  • 22 Jump Street Returning To Theaters On Friday

There’s nothing like seeing a hilarious comedy with a packed audience in a movie theater. At least that’s what the producers of 22 Jump Street are banking on.

The buddy cop sequel starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum is returning to theaters on Friday, October 24, right before the movie will be available for home viewing.

Rory Bruer, president of worldwide distribution for Sony Pictures, said in a statement, “Clearly, audiences fell in love with these characters two years ago and this summer they showed the strong appetite for more adventures with the hilarious pairing of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.” He added, “There’s nothing like laughing out loud in a packed theater, so before the movie becomes available to own, we wanted to give moviegoers the chance to relive the experience on the big screen.”

The sequel to 2012’s 21 Jump Street, an adaptation of the television series which introduced the world to Johnny Depp, features officers Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum). The mismatched pair go deep undercover at a local college in order to find the supplier of a drug called “WHYPHY” (Work Hard Yes Play Hard Yes.) The screenplay was written by Michael Bacall, Oren Uziel, and Rodney Rothman, from a story by Michael Bacall and Jonah Hill. The film was produced by Neal H. Moritz, Jonah Hill, and Channing Tatum. It was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

22 Jump Street earned $327 million globally with a domestic box office of $191 million, since its release in June. It was the top-grossing comedy of 2014.

If you decide to skip the theater, the movie will be available on Digital HD on October 28 and on Blu-ray and DVD on November 18.

  • Jonah Hill And Channing Tatum Will Team Up For 23 Jump Street

It’s confirmed: Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will be going back to college as undercover cops for the third installment of the 21 Jump Street movie franchise.

This third film, 23 Jump Street, will be written by Rodney Rothman, who also wrote the screenplay for 22 Jump Street. Sony Pictures and Original Film have not announced who will be directing the film as of yet, but it is likely the duo behind the other Jump Street films, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, will be asked to helm as before. Lord and Miller also directed The Lego Movie, among others.

In 22 Jump Street, Hill, who played Morton Schmidt and Tatum as Greg Jenko, were cops disguised as college students. They are on a mission to find and expose the fraternity ring that supplies a dangerous new drug, called WHYPHY, which has taken the life of a female student. The movie, released earlier this year, was very well received, returning six times its budget and earning a gross of $319M worldwide.

The plot elements of the new film have not been announced as of yet, although it could be any one of the several sequel ideas that were shown in the end credits for 22 Jump Street. Viewers of the last film were treated to a host of spoof ideas for the threequel and beyond – going as far as 42 Jump Street – as a comic preview to what might be expected from the franchise.

The films are based on the 80s TV series starring Johnny Depp as a fresh faced cop who goes undercover in high school to solve crimes.

Tatum was also reported to be working on Jupiter Ascending and will soon start filming for a sequel to the 2012 movie Magic Mike, the comedy-drama about a 19-year-old male stripper.

Hill, noted for an Oscar nomination for his supporting role in The Wolf of Wall Street, has recently finished shooting True Story, a crime drama movie which also stars James Franco.

  • Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum Reuniting for ’23 Jump Street’?

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will join forces again. A third film in the 21 Jump Street saga has been given the greenlight by Sony Pictures.

Rodney Rothman has been hired to write the, tentatively titled, 23 Jump Street script. Rothman, former head writer on the Late Show with David Letterman from 1998 to 2000, was one of the screenwriters for 22 Jump Street.

Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Neal Moritz, Hill, and Tatum are set to produce the latest Jump Street film. However, Lord and Miller, who directed 22 Jump Street, have not yet committed to directing the latest film. Hill and Tatum have also not yet confirmed that they will star in it.

21 Jump Street is based on the 1980s cop drama that starred Johnny Depp. The series lasted for five seasons, but Depp only appeared in four of them. In 21 Jump Street, a group of fresh faced cops go undercover at various high schools and colleges to stop youth crimes, such as the selling of narcotics and robberies. The 21 Jump Street movie completely reinvented the concept of the television series by turning it into a comedy, and creating characters totally unlike the ones on the show.

The Jump Street movies received favorable reviews from moviegoers and critics alike. 21 Jump Street made over $200 million at global box offices in 2012. This summer, 22 Jump Street made over $300 million, with only a $50 million budget.

The credits sequence of 22 Jump Street mocked the possibilities of more sequels. But factoring in the financial success of the first two films, and their positive reception, it seems like a smart decision to make a third movie.

  • Jonah Hill on ’22 Jump Street’: “We Just Got Lucky”

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are more than costars in their new film 22 Jump Street – they’re real life bros. “I think we got lucky,” Jonah says when talking about both the on-screen and off-screen chemistry with Channing. “We knew we would get along, but also the way we interact is luckily funny. It makes us laugh. I think it makes other people enjoy watching us hang out.”

“It’s great. It’s like just hanging out with friends,” Channing said at the 22 Jump Street premiere at Regency Village Theatre. Jonah added: ” I’m just here to hang out and be this guy’s wingman.”

Jonah and Channing reprise their roles as undercover cops Greg Jenko and Morton Schmidt in the sequel to 2012’s massively popular 21 Jump Street, a film adaptation of the 1987 TV series. The film opened this weekend with early Thursday night shows, beating out How To Train Your Dragon with $5.5 million on opening night. Jump Street even beat out the summer’s biggest comedy, Neighbors, which took home $2.3 million in first night sales.

Jonah’s weekend seems to be looking brighter after dealing with a scandal in which Jonah was caught calling a paparazzo a gay slur. “It’s been the most painful week of my life,” Hill says when talking about the incident. “I’m someone who beats themselves up for their mistakes in life. I don’t want to keep giving a watered down apology, but there is a silver lining to it if people who are young and fans of mine hear me say, “Use me as an example of what not to do.”

  • 22 Jump Street Debuts Trailer, See It Now [Video]

A year after the release of 21 Jump Street, fans can get ready for another round with 22 Jump Street. The buddy cop comedy features Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill, and while the two of them went undercover as high-school students in the first film, they will be taking on college in the sequel.

21 Jump Street was released in 2012, and is based on the original television series that aired from 1987-1991, which starred Johnny Depp before he got famous.

This time around, 22 Jump Street will see officers Jenko, played Channning Tatum, and Schmidt, played by Jonah Hill, find themselves going undercover at a local college as freshman. The two of them plan to bust up a drug ring inside a fraternity, which of course yields hilarious results.

While they are not attending classes as they did, they will certainly look out of place, and too old to be there. Channing Tatum, as a 33-year-old, and Jonah Hill, 29, are anything but the age of a college freshman. At one point in the trailer, a student even tells them “You look old as sh*t to be here.”

Nick Offerman, who is famous for playing Ron Swanson on NBC’s Parks And Recreation, also makes an appearance in the 22 Jump Street trailer to tell the two officers that no one cares about the jump street reboot, in his signature voice that will make all fans of his famous Ron Swanson character get even more excited for the film.

As a fair warning, the 22 Jump Street trailer is inappropriate at times, and not safe for work, containing adult language and themes. The pair of actors are back for more, and those who enjoyed the 2012 reboot, which gained critical and commercial success, should love this film as well. In addition, Ice Cube, Dave Franco, and several other actors have been brought into the sequel.

Some fans have already seen the trailer and took to twitter to show their excitement.
