  • Jeb Bush Earns Praise At New York City Event

During an appearance at a Manhattan Institute dinner, Jeb Bush garnered praise from members of the audience, which included political donors from the Big Apple, conservatives, and even Chris Christie supporter former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. A possible presidential candidate for 2016, Bush delivered an emphatic speech at the event that focused on the decline of the US economy due to immigration issues and the quality of public education.

The former governor of Florida and fellow Republican Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin were honorees at the annual affair hosted by conservative free market think tank Manhattan Institute, which is led by businessman and major donor Paul E. Singer. Bush and Ryan both placed emphasis on reducing poverty in the US by improving the poor’s quality of life. Ryan, who is also believed to be running for president in 2016, did not get as much attention as Bush did at the event.

Bush started off his speech with a cautionary message – one that warns the audience of a declining US economy. The ‘American Dream’, as he called it, is being replaced by a widening disparity between the two extreme economic and social classes – the extremely wealthy and the poor. The middle class, Bush stated, is “shrinking” and experiencing the most pressure to improve their living conditions. He added that a “majority of Americans” think that future generations will have fewer opportunities than what they had.

Better education, lower taxes, and more support for American families were some of the solutions that Bush suggested in his speech.

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, who gave Bush’s introduction, stated that the Texas-born Republican got elected in Florida with more than 60 percent of the Hispanic demographic. Coincidentally, Bush earned a degree in Latin American Affairs from the University of Texas. He is also the first and only Republican governor to have served two full terms in Florida.

Will Jeb Bush Run For President?

  • Tim Kaine Backs Hillary Clinton For President

Virginia Senator Tim Kaine will back Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential race if she decides to run.

Kaine told the South Carolina Women’s Democratic Council during a special breakfast function that he backed Clinton because of her experience and her history of engaging important domestic issues.

Kaine was in Columbia, S.C. as the keynote speaker at the South Carolina Jefferson Jackson Dinner.

Said Kaine, “She is a classic American optimist with the background and experiences necessary to lead this country in a very complicated world.”

He mentioned that he would be “starting his fifth year in the Senate” in 2017.

Kaine said he considered Clinton someone he knew for certain that he would “want to be working with in the White House on all fronts.”

He acknowledged that sexism could be a major stumbling block, making Clinton’s journey toward winning the presidency difficult one.

“If it were easy for women to achieve top leadership spots in this country,” said Kaine, “ Congress would have more than 18 percent women serving.”

Because of perceived racial politics in the country during 2006, few believed that President Barack Obama had a chance.

One of those few who backed Obama early on was Senator Kaine.

“I made my decision early because I knew something,” said Kaine about Obama. “He was the right person for the job, but getting there would be hard. And I figured that the sooner I started helping him in Virginia, the more helpful I would be.”

In fact Virginia went for Obama in 2008, marking a rare time in recent history when the state went blue. It can be said that Kaine’s ongoing support played a huge role.

Will his early support of Hillary Clinton as president precede another turned corner in our history? Only time will tell.

  • Hillary Clinton Sports New Hairstyle–Bangs!

HIllary Clinton has bangs. And while it’s no big deal in the real world, in a realm where the world of politics collides with the world of fashion, it’s a really big thing. The former Secretary of State and likely 2016 presidential candidate desperately needed a makeover. Some are wondering if this new look is designed to forge a new image for the woman who could be the first female president.

Hillary’s new ‘do is actually a soft bob. Her bangs aren’t thick and cut straight across–as some imagine bangs can only be–but rather soft and sort of side swept. It’s a very flattering style for the woman known for wearing boring pantsuits and having let her hair grow a bit too long and a bit too gray. She underwent a bit of a color transformation, too, forgoing gray for a soft honey color.

HIllary Clinton hasn’t yet made an announcement about whether she will or will not run for president in 2016. Democratic hopefuls are keeping their fingers crossed that she will in fact throw her hat into the proverbial ring. Many will count on this new hairstyle–replete with classy bangs–as an affirmative to the run. Hopefully they won’t be too disappointed if it turns out to be a simple visit to a hair salon instead.

What’s your take on the former Secretary of State and her bangs?
