Seth MacFarlane is back again.

It’s been almost a week since the premiere of his latest comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West. However, the Family Guy creator isn’t done discussing the new film.

MacFarlane and Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron stopped by the Ellen DeGeneres Show to spill some details about the new western comedy.

Theron, who stars alongside MacFarlane in the film, recounted her experiences working with him during the production of the film.

She also spoke fondly of her little boy who developed a relationship with MacFarlane while she was filming.

“He’s great, he’s just… I’ve scored big time”, Theron said of her son when DeGeneres inquired about him. She told DeGeneres that MacFarlane had given her son the nickname “little Republican,” and explained why he felt the little boy earned the title.

“He’s just always saying no…’No, no, no, no, no, no…’ Everything’s no. No, no,  no, no, no, no…No, Seth, no. Mama, no. No.’ It’s a lot of that”, she quipped. Its quite easy to see that she and MacFarlane have a solid friendship, which may explain their classic on-screen chemistry.

The two went on to discuss the raunchy Western comedy film in comparison to some of MacFarlane’s other popular productions. As the visionary behind adult animated comedy series like The Cleveland Show and American Dad, MacFarlane is naturally a target for some type of negative response from critics. However, it’s obvious that the public feels otherwise.

Theron cited the impressive ratings MacFarlane received from the 18-to-34 demographic when he hosted the Oscars. “Many of the people who tuned in when he hosted … that age group never cared about the Oscars,” Theron said. “We know who the audience for our movies is. Yet we have an awards show that… doesn’t reflect our industry at all. I was like, yeah, finally we have a show that people want to go and see.”

MacFarlane weighed in in agreement with Theron. “The press is very easily offended,” he said. “It’s the outrage industry. The rest of the country, they’re fine. They’ll laugh. They’re OK with it. I don’t operate in the way that I want to please the critics. That’s like putting a puppet show on for your parents. You want as many people to see it as possible, as many people to enjoy it as possible, and the audience at large is OK with  that stuff.”
