Robin Williams was an amazing comedian and actor and appeared in many television shows and movies.

He was found dead in his apartment on Monday, August 11, 2014.

Police did not offer any details about his death, but said that they believe Williams committed suicide and that the cause of death was asphyxia.

“At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death may be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made,” Lt. Keith Boyd, the Marin Country assistant chief deputy coroner, said in a statement.

Williams had battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout much of his life and was also struggling with severe depression. He checked himself into rehab in July and had hoped to get help for his problems.

A rep for Williams said, “This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

His wife also made a statement about his death saying,

“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken,” his wife Susan Schneider said in a statement.

“On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”

Williams was a talented actor and is best known for his roles in Mrs. Doubtfire, Patch Adams, Jack and the television show Mork and Mindy.

His fans and colleagues were devastated to hear that Williams had passed awa and many of them made statements about his death on Twitter.

Robin Williams will always be remembered for his amazing talent and his kindness. He will be missed by his family, fans and colleagues.
