“Good Morning America” anchor Robin Roberts has been battling myelodysplastic syndrome for months now and was recently the recipient of a transplant, donated by her sister. Now, the 51-year old is finally at home and recuperating after an exhausting 30 days in the hospital.

“Home Sweet Home. That has never had quite so much meaning before,” she wrote on her blog.

Roberts kept up her GMA schedule for a while, but eventually took some time off for a vacation to Italy to recharge before going into the hospital. Now, however, she’ll be forced to take it easy and be careful not to come into contact with any bacteria or germs that could be dangerous to her as she heals. Roberts wrote about the near future on her blog, thanking her family and the team of doctors who helped her along the way over the past month.

This doesn’t mean that my journey is over. Far from it. I am considered 21 days old. That’s how long it has been since my transplant. Remember when you brought your baby home for the first time? Your precious bundle didn’t leave the house much and you were careful that anyone who came in contact with your child was healthy. So I will still be resting away from GMA until I’m given the all clear, but sleeping in my own bed again feels like a big victory. My doctors will be monitoring me closely and I will still be at the hospital regularly to make sure we’re on the right track.
