Miranda Lambert Relates To Gwen Stefani’s New Track ‘Used To Love You’

Miranda Lambert continues to show the world how a divorce should be handled.

A source close to the country singer told gossip website Hollywood Life that Miranda Lambert, whose ex-husband Blake Shelton is currently dating his co-The Voice coach Gwen Stefani, totally related to Stefani’s performance at the recent American Music Awards event.

While this reaction might be considered unconventional and unexpected to some people, the 32-year-old “Over You” singer candidly admitted that watching Stefani’s live performance stirred her emotions and made her connect with the lyrics. “She can totally relate to her new song,” said the source of Miranda Lambert. “She can sympathize with Gwen with regard to the words in I Used To Love You.”

Miranda Lambert Empathizes With Gwen Stefani Through This Song

The connection and empathy between the two female vocalists is not entirely surprising as they both went through heartbreaking divorces with their respective spouses. Stefani was said to have penned the song as an ode to her messy split with rocker Gavin Rossdale, whom she allegedly caught cheating with their former nanny.

On the other hand, Miranda Lambert also went through her own breakup struggles, even though the proceedings went more smoothly than most divorces. Amid rumors of her cheating and partying too hard as well as Shelton also cheating and drinking too much, both parties have managed to stay mum about the real reason for the split.

Things are starting to look up for Miranda Lambert as she has been receiving a “ton of support” from her fans, and selling out her recent shows. She also received her own star on Nashville’s Music City Walk of Fame, cementing her country performer status along with such greats as Loretta Lynn, Martina McBride, Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, and Trisha Yearwood.

In her speech, she recounted her journey from music competition Nashville Star to touring for the first time to landing her first record deal.

“I feel like a bigger part of Nashville than I ever have,” said Miranda Lambert. “Nashville Star was kind of like my college. I had never really left Texas that much until the TV show. I moved back home after the show. I lived in Nashville just long enough to make a record.”
