Lisa Marie Presley isn’t sure if she’ll end up like her father or her mother when it comes to her health, because that’s what she told People magazine in a recent interview.
Of course, Lisa Marie is Elvis Presley’s daughter, and considering he died at the young age of 42, she has huge concerns about her future, in terms of how healthy she’ll remain and how long she’ll live.
The Memphis native says she isn’t sure if she’ll take after her mom’s side of the family–as they’re prone to live longer–or if she’ll take after her father’s side of the family, as many of them tend to be unhealthy.
“Knowing my family history, my father’s side is totally not healthy and they have shorter life spans,” said Lisa Marie. “While my mom’s side is super fit with long life spans. I didn’t know where I would land, so I said ‘Okay, I’m going to play it safe and try to be as healthy as I can be.'”
And play it safe she did, as Lisa Marie changed her overall eating habits and also her level of exercise, and as a result she lost a considerable amount of weight.
The 46-year-old singer spoke to People from Australia, while touring to support her latest release Storm & Grace, and she’s accompanied by her husband Michael Lockwood, who’s both her producer and guitar player and their twin girls Finley and Harper, ages 5.
Although Lisa Marie doesn’t get to workout as much as she would like to, her girls keep her busy, and the 90 minute set she does every night helps her out a great deal too, she says.
“The twins are with me on tour and are constantly on the go, so they keep me moving,” she said. “I do chase after them, but it’s not just that. There’s always so much going on with the little ones, and the older ones too. It’s a lot.”
