In October of 2013, Kanye West expressed frustration about his fiance Kim Kardashian never being on the cover of Vogue and never being asked.

He made the complaint on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and said Kardashian was the victim of a certain brand of classism, and because she’s on a reality show people don’t consider her style to be high-fashion, which is wrong, he said.

“Classism has been going on before racism,” said West. “We’re classist. We have our cool table…and there’s no way Kim Kardashian shouldn’t be on the cover of Vogue. She’s like the most intriguing woman right now. She’s got Barbara Walters calling her like everyday….and collectively we’re the most influential with clothing.”

Of course West’s statement ruffled a few feathers, like many of his statements do, but this time his rant worked, as both him and Kardashian made Vogue’s cover for its April issue.

The famed couple went with a wedding motif for the cover, since they’re reportedly getting married in Paris sometime in May. And Kardashian looked nearly flawless in a satin off-white wedding gown, as she’s being embraced by West–who stands in back of her in what looks to be a tuxedo.

Both West and Kardashian did a pretty good job of keeping the news to themselves about being on the cover, and it’s safe to say that most people will be surprised.

On Friday, Kardashian took to her Instagram account to post the photo and share the news, and along with the photo she wrote that she couldn’t be more thrilled, and being on the cover of Vogue is something she’s always dreamed of.

“This is such a dream come true,” she wrote. “Thank you Vogue magazine for this cover. I can’t even breath.”

It’ll be interesting to hear what people say about Kardashian and West being on the cover, and it’ll be even more interesting to hear what the fashion community says, because you know the backlash is coming–that’s one thing for sure.
