It appears the reports that Hilary Duff was the latest celebrity to be pulled into the Church of Scientology’s uber wealthy cult are all false.

Rumors of Duff being a Scientologist started after she was photographed with The Walking Dead‘s Alanna Masterson. Masterson hails from a family of Scientologists.

Later Duff was photographed with a new tattoo that some gossip sources felt bore a remarkable resemblance to the religious symbols used by the Church of Scientology.

Suddenly it was a foregone conclusion: We had lost Lizzie McGuire to all things Xenu!

Duff hit the brakes on this round of speculation herself.

She tweeted this message to her followers in an effort to clear things up:

Gossip site RadarOnline initially reported that the tattoo was practically a confirmation of Duff’s joining Scientology as the featured symbols—triangles, a crescent moon, and an arrow allegedly are important to the organization.

Apparently the true meaning of Duff’s tattoos was not lost on her fans as a fan account tweeted that they knew exactly what she was talking about. Duff responded with a, “lol peeps be cray.”

So there you have it!

Duff is fond of crescent moons and will sometimes put temporary tattoos on herself because of it. She has not confessed her crimes to anyone and she will not be jumping on Oprah’s couch alongside Tom Cruise anytime soon.

She thinks it’s “cray” that anyone would look at her tattoo and automatically tie it to any religious organization, especially the hugely controversial Church of Scientology.

Hilary Duff isn’t the only celebrity to be hit with rumors of having joined the organizations ranks.

There continues to be heavy speculation as to whether or not Will Smith and wife Jada Pinkett-Smith have both joined the church.

Those rumors have been denied by the Smiths.
