Disney Channel has officially renewed Girl Meets World, the 90s spinoff of Boy Meets World, for a second season.
The new series picked up with the two main characters, Corey Mathews (Ben Savage) and Topanga Lawrence (Danielle Fishel), who are parents to the mischievous 13-year-old Riley. The show brings back the memories of innocent childhood, and has appealed to a wide variety of audiences.
The show reached 5.2 million viewers during its June 27 premiere, and has continued with high ratings. The show has become so popular that it has been ranked one of the top series among children and tweens.
“The series swiftly became a favorite of kids and their parents, many of whom grew up with ‘Boy Meets World,'” Adam Bonnett, the executive vice president of original programming at Disney Channels Worldwide, said. “We’re looking forward to watching Riley Matthews and Maya Hart make the world their own, as Cory and Topanga teach them life lessons along the way.”
