  • eBay ‘Free Shipping’ Glitch Frustrates Buyers and Sellers

eBay ‘Free Shipping’ Glitch Frustrates Buyers and Sellers

Based on complaints from sellers, eBay appears to be experiencing a glitch that is telling buyers that some items have free shipping when the seller has not actually indicated this. It’s not hard to believe this becomes quickly problematic for related transactions.

The glitch is reportedly occurring in eBay’s mobile app. Ina Steiner at eCommerceBytes points to an eBay forum thread in which a seller explains:

I had a customer make a Best Offer using their cell phone that showed Free Shipping at the time it was viewed, but this was not a free shipping item. I accepted the offer, but there was no mention of free shipping in the Message section of the offer.

The customer is pretty upset with me. I am aware from the message boards that this is a glitch, but how do I convince the customer of this? … and hopefully doing this without making them even more upset.

Other sellers in the forum acknowledge awareness of the issues as well. One responded, “OMG- Ebay keeps saying that this glitch is fixed, but obviously it is not!I had the same thing happen & I was very grateful that I had an understanding buyer.”

It’s unclear how long this has been going on and if eBay is actively working on a fix.

  • Amazon Prime Now About to Hit Web [Report]

Amazon Prime Now About to Hit Web [Report]

Amazon launched Prime Now for quick one-hour (or less) deliveries for $7.99 and free two-hour delivery in New York in late 2014. It has since expanded to other select metro areas. While we haven’t heard much about geographical expansion of the service lately, it sounds like it’s about to expand significantly in another way.

Prime Now requires customers to use a mobile app, but that will soon change if a new report is accurate. Bloomberg Business got its hands on related documents and says Amazon is planning a launch to put Prime Now on the web in May, and is preparing deals with brands to get them visibility for it. Spencer Soper at Bloomberg Business reports:

Amazon is trying to sell advertising space to major brands for the Web launch, promising them visibility with tens of millions of Amazon shoppers. The premium “Launch Hero Package” would cost $500,000 for about two weeks of placement on Amazon’s website associated with the rollout. That price includes e-mail promotions sent to Amazon customers, which Amazon said have a stand-alone value of $100,000, according to the documents reviewed by Bloomberg.

Amazon isn’t commenting on the news.

Prime Now is currently available nearly 20 cities in the United States as well as London. You can enter your zip code here to see if it’s available in your area.

Amazon Launches Payments Partner Program For Ecommerce Platforms, Developers

Amazon announced the launch of the Amazon Payments Partner Program on Monday, aimed at helping ecommerce platform providers and developers extend Amazon Payments to their merchants. The program provides these platforms with tools and services to help them enable merchants to easily integrate with Amazon Payments.

The program includes “solution pre-integration” and best practices to help merchants maximize effectiveness. Merchants themselves will be able to get knowledge-sharing and white glove integration service benefits that are exclusive to the program.

“The Amazon Payments Partner Program provides Partners with the tools and resources needed to extend the trust and convenience of the Amazon experience to their merchant customers,” said Patrick Gauthier, VP, Amazon Payments. “We are working together across geographies and industries to help merchants grow and create experiences that delight customers throughout the shopping journey.”

  • Google April Fools’ Joke ‘Gmail Mic Drop’ Goes Wrong

Google April Fools’ Joke ‘Gmail Mic Drop’ Goes Wrong

Every year, on this day, Google puts out a whole bunch of April Fools’ Day jokes. It’s a tradition, and is completely expected by much of the Internet. This year is no different except that one of the company’s jokes has already backfired.

Google introduced the “Gmail Mic Drop” feature, which placed a new send button in Gmail when the user composed a message. Clicking this included in the email a GIF of a Minion dropping a mic.

“Today, Gmail is making it easier to have the last word on any email with Mic Drop,” Google software engineer Victor-bogdan Anchidin wrote on the Gmail blog. “Simply reply to any email using the new ‘Send + Mic Drop’ button. Everyone will get your message, but that’s the last you’ll ever hear about it. Yes, even if folks try to respond, you won’t see it.”

Unfortunately, it appeared in users’ accounts and people were clicking it inadvertently. Some claimed to have lost jobs and others shared concerns for potential job loss. Matthew Alba wrote in the Gmail Help Forum:

SEND + MIC DROP!!?!?? So I’ve been going back with a potential employer all week and last night sent a critical follow up email and accidentally clicked “Send + Mic Drop” Not only am I mortified of the mistake, but this could potentially cost me my dream job. Who am Google may I speak to about this? This was a horrible, horrible idea with potentially irreparable damages for me. Please let me know what can be done. I’ll gladly show anyone the emails so you can see for yourself.

    Abdus Salam wrote:

This mic drop is perhaps the most stupid thing you could possibly come up with. I have been interviewing with this company for 3 months now and mistakenly sent the email directly to guess who? The HR! Why would you do that? I so want this job; was due to start on Monday!

    Allan Pashby wrote:

Thanks to Mic Drop I just lost my job. I am a writer and had a deadline to meet. I sent my articles to my boss and never heard back from her. I inadvertently sent the email using the “Mic Drop” send button. There were corrections that needed to be made on my articles and I never received her replies. My boss took offense to the Mic Drop animation and assumed that I didn’t reply to her because I thought her input was petty (hence the Mic Drop). I just woke up to a very angry voicemail from her which is how I found out about this “hilarious” prank.

There are plenty of additional complaints here.

It’s worth noting that any of these complaints could be made up, mini jokes as well, but Google has put a stop to the Mic Drop feature. In an update to its post, Google says, “Well, it looks like we pranked ourselves this year. ? Due to a bug, the Mic Drop feature inadvertently caused more headaches than laughs. We’re truly sorry. The feature has been turned off. If you are still seeing it, please reload your Gmail page.”

Google does have some better April Fools’ announcements that are less likely to disrupt users’ jobs and businesses. These include a new “SnoopaVision” feature to let you watch 360-degree YouTube videos with Snoop Dogg…

…and a new Google Cardboard Plastic headset:

Have fun with the Internet today, folks.

UPDATE: Check out Google’s parachute delivery joke video.

  • Facebook Messenger May Soon Get More Business-Friendly

Facebook Messenger May Soon Get More Business-Friendly

There will soon be a lot more business transactions happening within Facebook Messenger if a recent discovery buried within the app is any indication.

    text-image

According to Forbes, a “forthcoming software release” will let users pay for goods in person or “pay directly in Messenger when you pick up the item,” effectively turning Messenger into another Wallet service.

It sounds like rather than trying to compete with Apple Pay, Android Pay, and the like, Facebook will work to partner with such existing payment services, which could go a long way toward getting people to actually use it. If it works with services people are already using, people may be more inclined to try it out. On the other hand, it’s unclear what reason they would have to do so if they are in fact already using the other service.

As Forbes notes, however, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said a couple months ago that the company would be willing to partner with other companies that do payments.

Zuckerberg said during the company’s earnings conference call (via Seeking Alpha’s transcript), “On payments, the basic strategy that we have is to make it especially in products like Messenger that where the business interaction maybe a bit more transactional, to take all the friction out of making the transactions that you need. So, we don’t view ourselves as a payments business, that’s not the type of company that we are. We’ll partner with everyone who does payment. We look at the stuff that Apple is doing with Apple Pay for example as a really neat innovation in the space that takes a lot of friction out of transactions as well. And our view is that the less friction, the better the user experience, the more people can easily interact with businesses that they care about. And ultimately for our business that will drive up the amount that businesses are willing to pay to advertise to send people into those interactions because they perform well. So it’s good for everyone but that’s how we think about that.”

During the call, Zuckerberg said with Messenger, they had been focused on two things. The first was expanding the the types of content people can share with the service. The other thing would be business.

“But in terms of the business, the more important piece is how people can interact with businesses through Messenger,” he said. “And we started some early small tests around f8 last year where with some ecommerce services made it so that people who were buying things could follow up with the business and get customer support and buy more things. And we went through this process of integrating that and making sure that it’s integrated with all these system well. And I think everyone is really happy with that so far. So we started off pretty slowly, but that’s going to be some of the basis for how we look to make Messenger a business going forward. And we’re happy with the initial results. There is obviously a lot more there that we need to do and we’ll have more to talk about this year and beyond.”

It was about a year ago that Facebook began allowing for P2P payments with Messenger.

As Zuckerberg alluded to, Facebook introduced some things at F8 last year. For one, they turned Messenger into a platform, and opened it to developers to build new experiences. Secondly, they revealed business features like the ability to let your customers connect with you via Messenger and then send them personalized updates and talk to them in real time.

In August, Facebook launched Pages Messaging, which gave customers more ways to send messages to businesses and ways for Page admins to manage and respond to them. People can send messages to Page from a local awareness ad. They’ll see a button that says “Send Message” from which they can initiate a onversation in a Messenger window that appears. For Pages, the incoming messages include an attachment that shows the ad that prompted the message. Once the user initiates the conversation, the business can respond as they like. They also started letting businesses respond via FB message to public comments.

Late last year, Facebook announced its Request a Ride service, which let users request, track, and pay for Uber rides all within Messenger. Messenger got new Lyft integration earlier this month as well. Now, you can also check into KLM flights with Messenger.

A December report found that Messenger is the fastest growing of the top apps in the U.S. It has 800 million people using it each month. Earlier this year, Facebook shared this infographic looking at last year’s additions to the product as well as trends for this year.

F8 is coming back on April 12, and the company is expected to make new announcements pertaining to Messenger’s progress and plans for business. This may very well include new payment partners.

Do you expect Messenger to be a valuable tool for business?

  • Square Launches Register and Ecommerce APIs

Square Launches Register and Ecommerce APIs

Square just announced the launch of Build with Square, which is a new set of APIs being made available to sellers and the developers they work with. There’s a Register API, which enables any iOS point of sale to be customized to process payments with Square, and an ecommerce API, which lets sellers use Square to process online payments on their own self-hosted sites.

A spokesperson for Square tells WebProNews, “With these new set of tools we’re helping sellers of all kinds join the Square ecosystem and run every part of their business in one place. Sellers can now identify what and when customers are purchasing online and in-store all in one place. Now no matter what you sell, or how you sell it, you can sell with Square.”

“Independent businesses have been poorly served by existing commerce solutions, which require them to laboriously piece together hardware, software, and payments services from many different vendors,” the company says in a blog post announcing the news. “From payments to point of sale, financing to payroll, we believe all sellers — big or small, online or offline — should be able to start, run, and grow their entire business with one cohesive system.”

With the Register API, developers can tell Square how much they want to charge a customer and “let Square Register to the heavy lifting” with just two API calls. Customers can pay like they would with any other Square merchant and get text, email, or printed receipts. The API supports all Square hardware, including Square Stand and the Square Contactless + Chip Reader.

Make an API request (see code here), and Square Register comes to the foreground and completes the payment. After that, it will call your app back with the result.

    register-api-example-app-contactless-chip-reader

Square developer platform software engineer Jianliang Zhao discusses the ecommerce API and points to documentation here.

Jack Dorsey is pleased with it.

“Now any developer can build solutions for their customers to take payments on a website using Square,” writes Zhao. “Whether you’re getting started selling online with Square’s Online Store; you’re growing through Square’s integrations with eCommerce platforms like Bigcommerce, Weebly, and Ecwid; or now, you’re building a custom website, any business can scale online with Square payments. What’s more, with our eCommerce API, Square takes the hassle out of PCI compliance without interfering with the design or look and feel of your website or re-directing customers off-site.”

He notes that Square’s JavaScript library uses transparent, dynamically styled iframes to accept sensitive cardholder info so this data never touches your web site or servers.

While only the two APIs were announced, it will be interesting to see what else Square enables developers to do in the future under the Build with Square banner.

  • Longer Instagram Videos Are On the Way

Longer Instagram Videos Are On the Way

Instagram isn’t holding back on coming changes to its service. As you more than likely know by now, the company recently announced that it will change the way it orders posts in users’ feeds. No longer will posts simply appear in chronological order. Rather, Instagram will show users the posts they think they’ll care about most first.

On Tuesday, Instagram announced that users will soon be able to share videos up to sixty seconds in length. In the past, fifteen seconds has been the limit.

“We want to bring you fun, flexible and creative ways to create and watch video on Instagram,” the company said in a blog post. “As part of our continued commitment, you’ll soon have the flexibility to tell your story in up to 60 seconds of video. This is one step of many you’ll see this year.”

In the last six months, the time people spent watching video increased by more than 40 percent,” it added. “And longer videos mean more diverse stories from the accounts you love, whether it’s Selena Gomez (@selenagomez) hanging out with friends or beauty star Bretman Rock’s (@bretmanrock) latest makeup tutorial.”

Longer videos will begin rolling out today, but it sounds like it’s going to be a slow roll-out. The company says everyone will be able to use them in the coming months.

In February, Instagram began rolling out sixty-second video ads to marketers.

The company told us in an email, “We recognize that advertisers have a variety of creative resources and want to bring more choice to help them reach their business goals.”

Instagram also introduced video view counts in February, which it said would extend to ads as well. The counts will appear beneath videos. It’s considered a view when the user has seen it for at least three seconds. According to Facebook and Nielsen, up to 47% of the value in a video campaign is delivered in the first three seconds.

“This is a long requested feature in our community and video views help share the depth of engagement videos receive,” the spokesperson told us.

On iOS, Instagram is bringing back the ability to make videos out of multiple clips from your camera roll. This will be available this week as part of the new Instagram update for iOS, version 7.19. They didn’t mention the feature for Android.

Video has been a major focus of Instagram parent company Facebook, and with its new Oculus Rift shipping to consumers and supporting Facebook 360 videos, I won’t be surprised to see Instagram-related announcements having to do with that as well.

And in terms of the new Instagram algorithmic feed, I also won’t be surprised to see videos playing a role in the ranking there. We know Facebook’s feed loves them.

  • B2B Social Media: New Study Looks At Performance Across Industries

TrackMaven released its 2016 Social Media Impact Report: B2B Industry Edition on Tuesday, looking at how the best B2B brands perform on social. They used their database to analyze a year’s worth of content from 316 leading B2B brand across Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Pinterest.

Overall, they found, B2B brands have the largest audience on LinkedIn. In fact, we’re talking 36 times the number of followers they have on Instagram.

READ: Does Instagram Have Any Value to B2B Marketers?

According to TrackMaven, the median social media audience size fro B2B brands breaks down like this: 109,000 on LinkedIn; 34,000 on Facebook; 18,000 on Twitter; 3,000 on Instagram; and 420 on Pinterest.

B2B brands get 20 times more engagement on Instagram that on LinkedIn. According to the firm, the average engagement ratio (number of interactions per post per 1,000 followers) for B2B brands is 22.53 on Instagram; 15.88 on Pinterest; 5.99 on Facebook; 1.09 on LinkedIn; and 0.86 on Twitter.

Brands with the best social media performance tended to be in the biotech, engineering, and financial service industries. According to Track Maven, brands in these industries have substantial growth and content engagement on social media. This, they say, indicates highly impactful social content. The financial service industry had an impressive 81.77% average annual follower growth per brand.

On the subject of LinkedIn, recent reports have indicated that business content has seen an uptick in referral traffic in recent months.

  • Square Starts Offering Loans Through Square Capital

Square Starts Offering Loans Through Square Capital

Square launched Square Capital in 2014 as a cash advance program for eligible businesses. The program gave businesses quick (the next business day) access to thousands of dollars, with great flexibility in payback.

Payback came out as a percentage of daily sales, so slower days meant less and better days meant more.

Now, rather than just providing cash advance offers, Square Capital is providing flexible loans to boost lending. Square’s Jacqueline D. Reses writes in a blog post:

Square Capital is still as fast, simple, and transparent as ever. There is no burdensome paperwork to apply, qualified sellers can get funds as soon as the next business day, repayment happens as a fixed percentage of your daily card sales, and the cost of the loan is a fixed dollar amount that never changes.

So you might be wondering, do I need to do anything different? Nope, just check your Square Dashboard to see if you have an outstanding offer through Square Capital.

Square offers tips on how to get noticed by Square Capital here. It provides a list of things they take into consideration, including processing volume (at least $10K a year), activity, growth, history, recent payments, and customer mix.

  • Square Adds Facebook Ad, Yelp Features

Square Adds Facebook Ad, Yelp Features

Square announced some additions to its Customer Engagement offering. Customer Engagement is a suite of tools aimed at helping businesses grow sales with customers after they’ve left the store.

The new additions are Facebook ad integration and an Automated Campaign that asks a business’s best customers to check out the business on Yelp.

“Now your Facebook Ads results and Square sales data are integrated, so you can connect your Facebook marketing budget to actual sales and understand exactly what your customers respond to,” Square says. “We will also be adding support for other social channels in the coming weeks.”

According to the company, a Georgia seafood restaurant recently drove $400 in sales from $10 in Facebook ads with the help of the feature.

“We know that automated email campaigns have high engagement, with open rates 1.7 times higher than blast campaigns containing offers,” Square says. “So we’re also introducing a new Automated Campaign that asks your best customers to check out your business on Yelp. These features can help improve your online reviews and get new customers in the door, while generating additional sales from existing customers.”

The company recently added the team from LocBox, which it credits with help on the growth of Customer Engagement.

  • Malia Obama Acts As Translator During President’s Trip To Cuba

Malia Obama is learning that being part of the first family means you sometimes just don’t get to relax and enjoy that tropical vacation, aka your dad’s historic trip to Cuba.

Malia Obama actually worked this trip as President Obama’s Spanish translator.

Pete Souza, official White House Photographer, has widely documented the Obama’s trip to Cuba on Instagram.

On Monday he posted this shot, which was captioned, “The President and Malia share a laugh as Malia translates Spanish to English for her dad at a restaurant in Old Havana.”

Working girl! Malia Obama must be pretty good to translate for the president.

With only a few months left in President Obama’s term as the Commander in Chief, many are wondering just what Sasha and Malia Obama will do after they vacate the White House.

Former special assistant to President George H.W. Bush and author of the book All the Presidents’ Children, Doug Wead, says he thinks they’ll do just fine.

He said of growing up as a first kid, “They all struggle, as you and I do, as all of us do, with establishing a separate identity from their parents. That whole process becomes complicated and corrupted by the extreme celebrity of the mom and dad. In any given moment, half of the country admires your mom and dad and half of them hates them. And that will always be.”

An extraordinary first day in Havana. Click the link the bio to see the day in photos. #CubaVisit

A photo posted by First Lady Michelle Obama (@michelleobama) on

However, Wead says it is thanks to the Obamas’ parenting skills that Sasha and Malia Obama will be successful.

He said, “You really have to credit the Obamas as great parents, whatever your politics or your views of government.”

He added, “I think they’ll be beloved by the nation, honored by the nation. There’s just genuine bipartisan admiration for them.”

What do you think will be next for Sasha and Malia Obama?

  • Shopify Adds Sales Channels To Help You Sell From More Places

Shopify Adds Sales Channels To Help You Sell From More Places

A lot of businesses are about to have a lot more ways to sell their products with Shopify. The company announced that it is giving developers tools to build new sales channels to put Shopify into more and more apps. Right off the bat, eBates, Houzz, Wanelo are getting them, and more will be on the way.

The idea is that people are shopping in all kinds of apps, and Shopify wants to give sellers a chance to get at potential customers in more places.

“Managing several channels should be every bit as simple as managing one,” says Shopify’s Satish Kanwar. “With Shopify, you get a single place to run your business, one, unified platform for managing all your channels, products, orders, customers, and analytics.”

“To make selling through multiple channels even easier, we’ve made some improvements to Shopify,” he adds. “These improvements, which will be rolling out over the coming weeks, refine the channels experience and make it easier to explore new ways to grow your business.”

You can find Sales Channels from the left navigation in Shopify.

Expect to see many more sales channels emerge in the future. Developers can find the Sales Channel SDK and everything they need to get started here.

Last week, Shopify launched a new WordPress plugin and some new themes. This will also be a tremendous help for a lot of businesses, making it easier to sell on WordPress sites.

Both the themes and plugin are free. You can use them to add products to any of your pages or blogposts without leaving the content management platform.

“As usual, you’ll still manage all of your pages and posts in WordPress, but you’ll have Shopify to manage everything else: payments, secure checkout, shipping and fulfillment, inventory, and taxes—all the hard things about selling online,” says Shopify’s Daniel Patricio.

The themes are called Hype by Themezilla, Simple by Themify, and Pulse by Ultralinx. You can see them below in that order.

“Installing the plugin adds the ability to easily drop products with buy buttons into any sidebar, page or blog post,” says Patricio. “Plus, you’ll get a slick pop-out shopping cart for your site, so customers can purchase multiple products at once.”

While the plugin is free to Shopify users, it does cost $9 a month for a “lite” Shopify plan. The plan will also get you Facebook Shop, Shopify POS for iOS or Android, access to the Shopify app store, and 24/7 support.

Last month, Shopify posted its 2015 year in Review. In this, it revealed that it currently has over 243,000 businesses in over 150 countries. They added over 98,000 merchants last year alone. This was of course when they added buy buttons for Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter as well as a mobile SDK enabling the sales of products in mobile apps and Apple Pay. They also partnered with Amazon to bring Amazon services to merchants, and with Uber on local shipping.

  • The New Apple iPhone SE Is Officially Launched — Here’s What You Get

The New Apple iPhone SE Is Officially Launched — Here’s What You Get

The new Apple iPhone model with a distinctively smaller screen finally launched on Monday. A smaller-screen iPad Pro was introduced at the same event as well.

The 4-inch iPhone called iPhone SE may be smaller than other Apple iPhone models, but it has the features of the iPhone 6S and its casing is similar to that of the iPhone 5.

It may be small but contains all the specs of the latest iPhone. It shares the same A9 processor as the iPhone S6, and its camera is also upgraded from 8 megapixels to 12. The Apple iPhone SE also features Siri hands-free search and Live Photos. It also has new chips that would enable the phone to work with Apple Pay, which means all of the company’s current handsets can now be used to make payments.

The iPhone SE also comes in the same metal finish as iPhone 6S.

Not only is the new Apple iPhone SE smaller, it is also cheaper than the other iPhone handsets. iPhone SE prices begin at $399 for the 16GB unit in the US. This makes the new phone the cheapest model Apple has ever launched, and the company says it is intended for consumers who use Apple’s smaller handsets. It will go on sale in the UK on March 31.

The iPad Pro on the other hand, features a 9.7-inch screen, smaller than the original iPad Pro with a 12.9- inch display which came out last year. The new iPad Pro starts at $599 for the 32GB unit.

Why did Apple launch smaller iPhones this time? According to reports, sales for larger screens have gone down. Another factor is that many people still prefer to buy the smaller iPhones than the larger phablets. “Today we welcome a new member to the iPhone family,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said during the event. “Many customers have asked for this and we think they’re going to love it.”

Sean Penn Spotted Kissing Beautiful Young Blonde At Chicago Steakhouse

Is Sean Penn currently dating a younger woman? The actor-humanitarian was reportedly spotted kissing a “beautiful young blonde” at a Chicago restaurant last week.

The actor arrived at Chicago Cut Steakhouse together with his much younger companion, who, according to onlookers, was probably in her early 20s. The pair shared an intimate dinner “near a window in full view. Many public kisses were shared,” a source revealed.

“He came in with no reservation so he was not pretentious or trying to set it up or making sure he was incognito – he literally walked right in,” an insider told People.

Penn and his date reportedly ordered “oysters, a sea bass, and a steak, and then they both had dessert and hot tea,” and onlookers agree that the two were “very romantic with one another.”

The 55-year-old actor posed for a photograph with the restaurant’s hostess after his dinner, but left when guests started asking to take photos with him.

According to Page Six, Penn was also seen this week at Chicago bar Phyllis’ Musical Inn, which resulted in rumors that he has a girlfriend in the area. Penn’s camp has yet to confirm the reports.

Sean Penn and ex-girlfriend Charlize Theron broke up last year. There were reports that the award-winning actor and Theron were engaged, and many thought they were going to end up together since there was a rumor that he was planning to adopt her second child. He previously married Robyn Wright in 1996 but split up with her in 2010.

His relationship with Madonna is perhaps the most publicized as the two remain “good friends.” The pop icon recently expressed her love for Sean Penn at a charity event back in January.

“I want to say Sean, I love you, from the moment that I laid eyes on you,” Madonna said during a speech at charity event in California.

Rob Kardashian Celebrates His 29th Birthday With Family, Sans Blac Chyna

Despite frequent disagreements with his famous family, Rob Kardashian reunited with the Kardasian-Jenners on Thursday to celebrate his 29th birthday.

Rob, whose birthday falls on March 17th, joined his family for a belated birthday dinner at Japanese restaurant Nobu in Malibu, California. The entire clan was present, including mom, Kris Jenner and sisters Kourtney and Kim Kardashian as well as Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Kourtney took her children, Mason and Penelope Disick to the party, and Kim brought daughter, North West as well.

The family’s significant others were also in attendance – Kris Jenner’s boyfriend, Corey Gamble; Kim Kardashian’s husband, Kanye West; and even Kourtney’s ex-partner, Scott Disick.

Noticeably absent, though, was Khloe Kardashian, who later tweeted that she was “too ill” to attend the birthday dinner. Caitlyn Jenner also did not take part in the festivities, but it was the absence of Rob’s girlfriend, Blac Chyna that raised some eyebrows.

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s recent romance immediately earned his family’s disapproval, mostly because the model-entrepreneur was formerly engaged to Kylie Jenner’s boyfriend, Tyga, with whom she also shares a three-and-a-half-year-old son, King Cairo. To complicate the drama even further, Blac Chyna is close friends with Kanye West’s ex-girlfriend, Amber Rose.

Kourtney Kardashian posted a rare photo with Rob Kardashian looking quite happy to spend time with his family. Kim also posted adorable shots of the kids having a great time at the restaurant, as well as a brief Snapchat featuring the men of the family.

To cap off the special occasion, a custom birthday cake was brought out – one that had a throwback photo of young Rob’s smiling face.

While Blac Chyna was excluded from the family party, she did get a chance to celebrate her man’s birthday with him. She and Rob Kardashian headed over to Legoland California with her son, after which they had burgers at In n Out.

  • Denise Richards Receives $55,000 Per Month For Child Support, Charlie Sheen Fights To Reduce Payments

Actor Charlie Sheen wants to reduce his child support payments to ex-wife Denise Richards, according to court documents he filed just recently.

Sheen says that he cannot afford to pay the $55,000 monthly child support as his income “drastically declined,” reported to TMZ. Richards is said to have been receiving that amount since 2009, but Sheen is no longer able to pay the same amount now.

He claims that from $613,000, he is now earning roughly $87,384 per month, pays $105,000 for monthly bills, and spends $25,000 for medical fees reportedly not covered by insurance. However, the actor, who revealed he was HIV positive late last year, admitted that he sold his Two and a Half Men rights for $26,750,000.

“We came up with a number a long time ago and I had a great job and everybody was living large and that’s not the case right now, but there’s still that expectation to still keep paying this kind of money,” Charlie Sheen said during an interview on the The Dr. Oz Show, where he talked about his child support payments to Denise Richards.

Sheen had also asked for his child support to Brooke Mueller, his other ex-wife and mother to his six-year-old twins Max and Bob, to be reduced for the same reasons.

Richards has two daughters with the actor: 11-year-old Sam and 1-year-old Lola. She is currently suing Sheen for forcing her and their daughters to leave their home. Richards also claims that the actor sent unpleasant text messages to their younger daughter.

However, Sheen’s legal representative, Martin Singer, believes that Denise Richards is just “being greedy.”

“I’ve been representing Charlie for more than 20 years,” Singer says. “Patty [Glaser, Denise’s lawyer] is just the latest in a long string of lawyers who Denise has hired to squeeze as much money as she can out of Charlie. This motion has nothing do with their children. Denise is simply being greedy.”

Google Maps Gets Ride Services Tab, Includes Uber

Google announced that it’s adding a ride services tab to Google Maps on mobile. This swill exist alongside car, transit, walking, and biking options that were already there.

The feature includes Uber services U.S. as well as those from 99Taxis in Brazil, Ola Cabs in India, Hailo in the UK and Spain, mytaxi in Germany and Spain, and Gett in the U.K.

“If you have a provider’s app installed and tap on the ride service tab, you’ll be able to see fare estimates and pick up times if a car is available near you,” says software engineer Holger Flier. “Select a service, and we’ll take you directly to their app for you to book your ride with one tap. When it makes sense, we’ll also show ride service availability when viewing the map in walking and transit directions, and multiple ride services options for each provider—where they exist. For example, if you’re using Uber, starting today, we’ll now show uberX, uberXL and UberBLACK for an easy and quick comparison.”

The new tab will roll out on Android over the coming days, and then to iOS in the near future.

  • Shopify for WordPress Launched

    Shopify for WordPress Launched

Shopify announced the launch of new themes and a new plugin for WordPress to make it easier to sell on WordPress sites.
