Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther, the pregnant woman from North Carolina who went missing last week, has reportedly been found, but investigators have not released information about her baby, who was due to be born last Tuesday via scheduled C-section.

49-year old Bradshaw-Crowther suffers from a medical condition that made natural childbirth impossible, according to her family, and that’s why they were so worried when she vanished from her home just minutes before her older daughter, Lauren Lusk, was to drive her to the hospital for the delivery. Lusk told police she was gone less than ten minutes that day to gas up the car; when she returned, her mother’s car was gone.

“When I got back, she was gone. The lights in the house were off, the door was unlocked,” Lusk said. “She cannot give natural birth, and that’s why our family is so worried. Because if she does go into labor she won’t make it.”

After Bradshaw-Crowther’s husband checked the local hospitals and found that she hadn’t checked in to any of them, police were notified, and following a week of frantic searching, she was found safe on Monday in a nearby town. Officials said it appeared that she had stayed at least one night in a hotel and had used her bank card at a CVS, which was how they pinpointed her location. But no statement has been released on the condition of the child, or why Bradshaw-Crowther took off. Reports say she is undergoing evaluation at this time.

According to the Daily Mail, Carrie Bradshaw-Crowther’s condition is called vascular Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a disorder that “can cause blood vessels, intestines or a woman’s uterus to rupture”. However, officials said she was in good condition when she was found and had apparently left her home of her own free will.
