A Myrtle Creek, Oregon toddler crashed his aunt’s Jeep into a home after knocking it out of gear. The three-year-old boy then ran home to watch cartoons.

At about 7 p.m. Thursday, a Myrtle Creek police officer had noticed the boy alone in the Jeep, and approached him after not seeing any adults in the vicinity. The boy told the officer that his parents weren’t home, and that his babysitter, identified as 22-year-old Brennan Pennington, was asleep at the boy’s residence. The officer contacted Pennington, and warned her that the boy had access to the keys to the vehicle, and was able to unlock it.

At around 7:30 p.m., police were called back to the scene, after a neighbor reported witnessing the Jeep crashing into a house.

Authorities said the three-year-old again commandeered the vehicle, and knocked it out of gear. Witnesses watched the Jeep roll down the street through an intersection, hop a curb, roll through a yard and crash into a house.

Here is a recording of the 911 call a neighbor made after he witnessed the incident with the Jeep:

After the wreck, the diaper-clad boy hopped out of the Jeep and scampered home, according to Myrtle Creek police.

A police officer found the boy nonchalantly watching cartoons in his house, “as if nothing had ever happened.”

The boy’s aunt and owner of the Jeep, Amy Mayberry, refuted the police report that the toddler ever had the keys, and claimed that Pennington was in the bathroom during the time of the incident, and not passed out. Pennington was cited for failing to supervise a child, and the family of the toddler made a civil compromise with the owner of the damaged house.

No one was injured in the incident.
