    Chelsea Handler Disses Her Old Show Now That She’s Signed To Netflix

    Chelsea Handler is moving on to bigger and better things. Last fall, she released a stand-up special called Uganda Be Kidding Me and she is now starting work on a new show for Netflix, who recently branched out to original programming following the success of Orange is The New Black and House of Cards. Handler spoke at the Code/Media conference in California on February 18 and she can’t help but gush about her new relationship with Netflix as well as her disappointment about her previous gig as host of Chelsea Lately for seven years.

    “The subject matter I was dealing with on E!, you know, it was a fun way to get started and kind of have a great time,” she said about Chelsea Lately which ran until last year. “And then after a while, I just was like, I’m so much smarter than that show was, and I wanted to be doing a show that was smarter than I was.”

    While Handler and Netflix are still working out the details of her new show, Handler is clearly excited about the collaboration. “It’s nice to be involved in a show where I do respect their opinions,” she said. “I respect Netflix. So it’s like going out with a guy that you’re proud to be seen with.”

    One of the reasons why Handler chose Netflix is because she believes they offer more creative control when it comes to their programming. According to Handler, “Network TV is so limited. There are so many parameters. I don’t want to be plugged into something and do a job someone else did for 10 years. I want to create my own job.”

    Handler hopes that her new show will move on from the celebrity gossip of Chelsea Lately to more substantial subject matter including international politics and human interest stories. To quote Handler, “the kind of well-roundedness of 60 minutes but faster, quicker, cooler”.

    On Monday, the temperature at Niagara Falls dropped to 13 degrees below zero. The drop in temperature left parts of Niagara Falls frozen, while the surrounding area was covered in snow and mist. The transformation brought more tourists to the area, mostly photographers who want to photograph the majestic waterfall in its frozen state.

    According to CNN, while the falls may look frozen on the surface, water is still flowing under the ice. The only time that the water flow in Niagara Falls stopped completely was back in 1848 due to an ice jam upriver. However, 1912 saw one of the coldest recorded winters in US history according to data compiled by the United States Weather Bureau, established in 1870. Temperatures dropped so low due to an Arctic cold wave that the falls was dense enough for people to walk across it safely. The cold wave started in December 1911, and continued through February of 1912.

    Photographer Christine Hess was one of the tourists who flocked to Niagara Falls to document its winter transformation. “There’s something about shooting the falls that leaves me mesmerized. I could walk down there for hours with my camera and never tire of the scenery. I’m in my own little world down there,” Hess said. And while it is definitely an incredible sight, it is not uncommon for parts of Niagara Falls to freeze during winter. In fact, last January, a photograph of the frozen falls became viral.

    Michelle Blackley, communications and community relations for the falls told USA Today, “The attention the falls is receiving is bringing a crowd to view them in their majestic, winter splendor.”

    According to the Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory, the lakes are now more than 85% iced over. The report also says that Lake Erie is already 98% frozen. And while 85% is a little high, it’s actually quite common in the Great Lakes. In fact, the record for the most ice coverage in the Great Lakes is 94.7% and it happened back in 1979. Last year’s peak was 92.5%. The National Weather Service says that extremely cold arctic air might expand the ice coverage in the coming days.

    The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Show was full of surprise guests and musical performers that have become a part of the groundbreaking show. One of those guests that definitely stunned the crowd was Kanye West who debuted his new track on television.

    The Grammy-winning rapper performed in a black and white designed stage that made it look like an art installation. West wore casual trousers, a pair of boots, a hoodie, and some cutoff gloves during the performance, but the one thing that the crowd made notice of was West’s baby blue contact lens that helped complete his eerie outfit.

    The colored contacts made the 37-year-old rap artist’s eyes look like the eyes of wolves, which is also the title of his latest single. After performing Jesus Walks and Only One, a song that he wrote and dedicated to his late mother Donda, Kanye debuted his latest single Wolves on live television. A clip of the song was previously released along with the teaser video of his collaboration with clothing brand, Adidas. West performed the single during the launch of his line of Yeezy shoes during New York Fashion Week, but this is the first time that West performed the track in front of millions of television viewers who tuned in during the show.

    West was joined onstage by newcomer Vic Mensa and Sia who donned her now-infamous blonde wig that obscured her face from the cameras. Kim Kardashian tuned in during the show and tweeted out a clip of her husband’s performance with the caption: “Iconic moment!!! Kanye SNL!”

    West played it cool during the show when Mike Myers and Dana Carvey reprised their Wayne’s World characters and made fun of Kanye during their Top 10 skit. There were a lot of jokes thrown out during the three-hour show and it also featured a couple of musical guests aside from Kanye West and Sia. Paul McCartney was joined onstage by Paul Simon to perform a brief clip of The Beatles’ I’ve Just Seen a Face, while Miley Cyrus made a shockingly good performance of 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.

    Looks like the Kardashian clan is keeping their mouths sealed tight because Bruce Jenner is not happy about the recent tabloid fiasco regarding his transition from becoming a male to a full-fledged female.

    One report from TMZ says that Jenner apparently has been “irate” over the leaks that have surfaced on news outlets and print magazines. A source close to the family says that Jenner thinks that his family “leaks like a sieve,” and would no longer want to trust his daughters with important information about his planned sex change.

    The entire family is currently shooting the tenth season for their hit reality show, Keeping up with the Kardashians and Jenner apparently wants everything to play out according to his plan. He is aware that the hit reality show can create buzz for his upcoming docuseries that would chronicle his transformation, that’s why he wanted the girls to stop the information leaks. Jenner is also increasingly worried that whatever he says on the show will eventually make its way to the tabloids via his family’s penchant for drama.

    Jenner has been getting the support of his kids, but not everyone is on board. Kris Jenner, the momager of the Kardashian family has continuously rejected the idea that her ex-husband will soon become her ex-wife. TMZ is saying that the entire family might not do any press rounds for the spring release of their show’s brand new season. Reports are saying that the family is trying to avoid being questioned about Bruce’s transition into a woman.

    It has been quite some time since Kim Kardashian last spoke about her father’s transition. She made a guest appearance on Entertainment Tonight last month and the star tried to keep her mouth shut after the host asked about Jenner’s new journey. “I think he’ll share whenever the time is right,” Kardashian said. “I just think it’s his story to talk about, not really mine.”

    While everyone is focused on Jenner’s story, Kim is apparently growing jealous over the fact that everyone’s attention is on Jenner’s transition and not on her life. Perhaps Kim should find a new way to step out of the shadow being cast down by Jenner’s controversies.

Sketch regulars Kristin Wiig and Fred Armisen reprised their characters during their short comeback on the SNL Stage. The Hangover star Bradley Cooper then emerged out of the backstage wearing a blonde wig and a pair of short shorts. Cooper played Craig the pool boy in the 9-minute sketch that went overboard when White locked lips with Cooper.

    The crowd went wild as the two shared a passionate kiss that lasted long until the sketch ended. The internet was on fire as #SNL40 became a trending topic.  Fans were insanely jealous over the fact that White made out with one of the sexiest men alive and some are saying how they want to be Betty White when they turn 90.

    Betty White has a eight decade-spanning career in Hollywood, making her one of the greatest comedy legends living today. She became the oldest person to guest host on Saturday Night Live and her episode was considered to be a major ratings success. She even won the Primetime Emmy award for her SNL guest appearance.

    The entire special ran for more than three hours and the event had a bunch of A-listers in attendance. Aside from White and Cooper, stars like Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake, Melissa McCarthy, Tom Hanks, and Paul McCartney were also present during the show. Former cast members like Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Eddie Murphy made cameos during the event, paying tribute to the program that helped launch their careers in comedy.

    Pacquiao is currently in the Philippines and has started training in General Santos City to prepare for his next fight. Mayweather spent his Valentine’s Day weekend in New York, shopping for jewelry that’s reported to cost more than a hundred thousand dollars. Reporters were expecting Mayweather to announce the fight during the NBA All-Star Weekend, but it appears that people will have to wait just a little bit longer for the final announcement.

    The two boxers met face-to-face last month after attending a Miami Heat game. Mayweather went up to Pacquiao’s hotel suite and the two discussed the possibility of giving their fans the boxing match that they’ve been craving for. The fight is expected to go down this May at the MGM Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

    Fans of the two boxers have been waiting for the fight that’s been years in the making. Mayweather previously said that he will beat Pacquiao during their match. “I know that he’s not on my level,” the outspoken boxer said. Meanwhile, the Filipino boxer is confident that he can bring the American boxer down. “I can easily beat @FloydMayweather, I believe that,” Pacquiao tweeted.

     

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Boyfriend Nick Gordon Accused Of Suing Brown/Houston Family

    It’s been almost two weeks since Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unresponsive in her bathtub by partner Nick Gordon. Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston’s family have been spending time at Emory Hospital, hoping and praying for Bobbi Kristina’s recovery despite rumors that her major organs have stopped functioning.

    Last week, Bobbi Kristina’s cousin Jerrod Brown released a statement saying that Gordon was seeking legal action against the Brown and Houston family for not allowing him to see his alleged wife. Gordon has maintained a rocky relationship with Bobbi Kristina’s relatives and one member is even seeking a restraining order against him.

    In response to Jerrod’s statement, Gordon finally broke his silence to squash rumors that he’s suing the family. “Mr. Gordon’s only concern is the recovery of Bobbi Kristina,” his attorney said. “He remains in constant prayer for his companion and he hopes to be reunited with her soon.”

    The Brown family is also requesting that the media stop speaking to “unauthorized members of the family,” pointing out Jerod in particular. “Jerod Brown continues to make statements and appear on television, however, he has not had any communication with Bobby Brown or the Houston Family. He must be disregarded,” read a statement released by Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen.

    Over the weekend, TMZ reported that Bobbi Kristina’s health has further deteriorated, saying that Brown’s organs have started failing to function. The family, however, is saying that reports are being overblown and that Bobbi Kristina was making noticeable progress. The New York Daily News said that Brown was “moving her eyes,” giving hope to the family of her recovery.

    A source from the family told People Magazine that police are searching for evidence of foul play. The family claimed that Gordon is being vetted by authorities and that the police are looking for signs of removal of evidence from the crime scene to cover-up any possible drug use in the case.

    Another fan of the cover is Davis’ boyfriend and baseball player, Derek Jeter. The couple went to a dinner party with friends and family to celebrate the cover. Emma Stone made the audience laugh out loud when she paid tribute to Gilda Radner’s famous character, Roseanne Rosannadanna.

    The Academy Award-nominated actress hit the stage during a Weekend Update sketch that saw Tina Fey reuniting with Amy Poehler on the anchor spotlight. Emma Stone considered Gilda Radner as one of her comedy heroes which is why she was up to don the ridiculously large wig and suit that fans all over the world loved.

    Radner debuted the character back in 1977 and it became one of her most beloved characters during her stint at SNL. Roseannadanna was the consumer affairs correspondent of the skit who gave crazy replies to letters of “the viewers.” The character would usually dish out far-fetched stories involving celebrities and would frequently make derogatory comments to those living in New Jersey for comedic effect. Radner passed away in 1989 due to cancer after starring in over 100 SNL episodes.

    The Birdman actress showed off her full costume in a behind-the-scenes snap posted on SNL’s Instagram account. Stone really looked the part when she traded her red hair with the black wig that Radner’s character made popular. She also wore the signature oversized coat and flowery blouse that made drove fans to nostalgia.

    Stone wasn’t the only one who made the audience laugh during the Weekend Update sketch. Edward Norton made a hilarious appearance as Stefon 2 along with Bill Hader who also played the character that he made popular.     At first, the room might seem like an ordinary studio, but once the game loads, fans are treated with a visual spectacle that makes the room look like a basketball half-court. The walls come to life thanks to massive LED display and the viewers are given a 360-degree look at the scenes that were recreated for the installation.

    The experience also includes real players who give fans a challenging time on the court. A play-by-play announcer calls out every move that you make, making the experience more life-like. The All-Star Weekend is an important moment for brands which is why the people from Jordan’s team thought of creating an innovative and unique experience for those who want to know more about the NBA Legend.

    The pop-up museum also includes a full tour that will guide visitors throughout the decade-spanning career of Jordan. Jordan memorabilia, like one-of-a-kind photos and autographed shoes are on display, giving visitors an exciting peek into the life of Michael Jordan. They can even take a selfie with the legendary player right at the end of the tour, giving them something to share on their social media accounts.

Nicki Minaj was all smiles before the start of the show and the cameras even captured her as little Nori was being introduced to the Anaconda­ singer. Things however changed when the show started and KimYe’s baby started losing her cool just like she did during her dad’s Adidas show earlier this week.

    As Nori continued her cry fest, Nicki Minaj tried to keep a straight face while looking at the stunning designs that were being showcased on the runway. The female rapper wore one of Wang’s creations: a see-through black, orange, and blue dress that showed off her amazing curves and a revealing cleavage. The camera flashes revealed that Minaj was wearing a sexy thong underneath. She paired the outfit with strappy boots and a tight ponytail that gave off a dominatrix vibe.

    Even though Nicki Minaj was seemingly annoyed by Nori’s loud crying, the chart-topping rap diva kept her cool and checked her phone to keep her concentration away from the wailing baby. Earlier that day, Minaj was spotted cozying up with “best friend” Meek Mills during an NBA All-Star Weekend event. The two shared courtside seats, heating up the speculations from fans that they are really dating, something that Minaj has continuously denied.

A few of Jenner’s pals were also present during the event. Hadid’s boyfriend, pop star Cody Simpson along with Sports Illustrated cover girl Hannah David were also in attendance.

    After the event, Jenner got back to work by strutting down the runway during the Diane von Furstenberg show. She wore a light and delicate ivory wrap dress with a black tie that was matched with black poka-dot stockings and suede heels. Her outfit during the DVF show was a stark contrast to her Alexander Wang show the previous night. Jenner wore an all-black number with muted make-up on her face, exuding a gothic-inspired look that matched Wang’s collection. Kim Kardashian along with husband Kanye West and baby North were cheering for Jenner during the Wang show.

    Jenner is expected to hit more runways this season. “I’ve got a lot and you’ll just have to see,” she revealed to E! News last week. We can’t wait to see her chic outfits!

  • Bill Cosby Continues To Be The Butt Of Bill Maher’s Jokes

    The rape allegations against Bill Cosby are no laughing matter. However, it did provide some great material for comedians and satirists. During last month’s Golden Globe awards, Bill Cosby became the butt of a joke made by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Satirist Bill Maher is also fond of poking fun at Cosby’s expense. During the height of the Sony hacking scandal, Maher joked that one of the controversial films that Sony shelved was a remake of While You Were Sleeping starring Bill Cosby.

    It looks like Maher is at it again. In a recent episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the satirist talked about how a speech made by Sarah Palin was criticized by Republicans. “Sean Hannity asked, ‘Did the teleprompter go down?’ The Washington Examiner questioned whether she should be included in future Republican events. And Bill Cosby said, ‘I wouldn’t drug her with your drink’,” Maher joked.

    Shortly after the episode, Bill Cosby was forced to cancel his Boston shows due to horrible weather. However, this didn’t stop protesters who gathered outside the Wilbur Theater to speak out against the comedian. “Just because the show is canceled doesn’t mean we’re going to stop protesting rape culture,” said Brandie Skorker, a 28-year-old East Boston resident and one of the protest organizers.

    It’s shaping up to be a bad week for Bill Cosby. Aside from Bill Maher’s joke, the show cancellations, and the ongoing protests, another accuser has come forward saying that Cosby harassed her. Helen Grumpel, formerly Helen Selby, said in a press conference that Bill Cosby made sexual advances and lewd gestures while she was on the set of The Cosby Show.

    According to Grumpel, she was called to the set for what she thought was another audition shortly after appearing in one episode of the show. She said she was brought to Bill Cosby’s dressing room where he then proceeded to sexually harass her.

    Aside from his work as a musician, Kanye West is also known for his antics onstage and offstage. His most famous stunt is when he interrupted Taylor Swift during her 2009 Video Music Awards win to tell the singer and the world that he thinks Beyonce deserved the award for Best Video. And while Kanye West and Taylor Swift seem to be in good terms during the 2015 Grammy Awards, West is up to his old tricks yet again.

    When Beck won the Album of The Year award for his record Morning Phase, Kanye West stormed onstage before leaving with a smile on his face. It was thought to be a good-natured joke meant to reference the Taylor Swift incident, but Kanye West made it clear in an interview with E! News that he wasn’t really kidding with the interruption.

    “I just know that the Grammys, if they want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain’t gonna play with them no more,” Kanye West said, upset that Beck beat Beyonce in the category. “And Beck needs to respect artistry and he should’ve given his award to Beyonce.”

    Kanye West added, “Because when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in their face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you’re disrespectful to inspiration. And we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day, and they listen to that Beyonce album and they feel like it takes them to another place.”

    West also revealed that he didn’t push through with his interruption for the sake of his daughter, North. “I’m not gonna do nothing to put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity,” he said. “That’s the reason why I didn’t say anything tonight, but you all know what it meant when Ye walked out on that stage!”

    For his previous film, Big Eyes, Tim Burton worked with Quentin Tarantino collaborator Christoph Waltz. And seeing as how that film proved to be successful, it looks like Burton is ready to double-dip into Tarantino’s casting pool. Samuel L. Jackson, who has appeared in several Tarantino films including Pulp Fiction and the upcoming western The Hateful Eight, is in talks with Fox to appear in Burton’s next film.

    The project is an adaptation of Ranson Riggs’ Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. Already attached to the project are actors Eva Green and Asa Butterfield. The film, which will be penned by The Woman in Black writer Jane Goldman, is now in pre-production and the casting details are being finalized. While news is still scarce about Samuel L. Jackson’s role, it is rumored that he will play a character named Barron. In the story, Mr. Barron is a disguise used by a character named Dr. Golan.

    Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children follows the story of Jacob (played by Asa Butterfield) who is searching for the titular institution. Jacob discovers that the home’s inhabitants have superpowers and he must protect the orphans from creatures out to destroy them. Eva Green will be playing Miss Peregrine.

    Samuel L. Jackson is currently in Colorado filming The Hateful Eight with Quentin Tarantino. Joining him in the revisionist western is an all-star cast that includes Channing Tatum, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, and Bruce Dern among others.

    Aside from filming of The Hateful Eight, Sameul L. Jackson is also set to reprise his role as Nick Fury in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe films, specifically, Avengers: Age of Ultron which will be hitting theaters in May. He’s also in the action film Kingsman: The Secret Service which will be shown on February 13, 2015.

Wearing a white glammed up couture Zuhair Murad dress, Perry told Ryan Seacrest that she just wanted “to shine bright like a diamond,” during music’s most important night. The California Girls singer pulled off a wavy purple hairstyle that matched her radiant make-up.

    The 30-year-old pop star made an incredible transformation from the red carpet to the stage. If her red carpet look was similar to her bubbly Super Bowl performance, Perry opted for a more understated look when she hit the stage to perform By the Grace of God, a ballad that she dedicated to victims of domestic abuse. From purple locks, Katy transformed her hair to a slick black style that contrasted with her flowing white gown that was reminiscent of the Kenzo gown that Solange Knowles wore in her wedding last year.

    Her emotionally-charged performance was introduced by a short message by President Barack Obama that encouraged artists to take a stand against the prevalence of abuse and rape cases in the country. Activist Brooke Axtell also did a spoken word piece before Perry started the powerful ballad.

    While Perry has never won a Grammy, the successful artist is experiencing the best years of her career. She became the first artist in Billboard chart history to spend 52 straight weeks in the top 10, with nine number one singles. Her Super Bowl performance was the most watched in television history and she was also named as the All-Time Top Digital Artist by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Perry joins other esteemed artists like Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, and Martina McBride who were all nominated but never won.

    The sci-fi film Passengers has been a long-gestating project for Prometheus writer John Spaits. And while its long history has been marred by people dropping out of the project, it seems to have found new life with Sony Pictures. According to reports, Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence and Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt are in talks to star in the film.

    Passengers follows a spacecraft where a man played by Pratt wakes up from his cryogenic sleep a decade early. The man decides to awaken a female passenger to save him from loneliness. Jennifer Lawrence is slated to play the female passenger. However, nothing is set in stone yet, with both actors having a lot on their plate right now. Jennifer Lawrence will also be appearing in the next X-Men film while Pratt is also busy with his upcoming films, including the Guardians of the Galaxy sequel.

    Morten Tyldum, director of The Imitation Game, is slated to direct the project. Passengers has been passed around from studio to studio, with The Weinstein Company and Focus Features being involved at some point before eventually landing at Sony.

    Other actors who have been attached to the project prior to the involvement of Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are Keanu Reeves, Reese Witherspoon, and Rachel McAdams. All of them eventually dropped out, leaving the project in limbo until December of last year.

    Worst case scenario, the project will be delayed yet again to accommodate the busy schedules of both Pratt and Lawrence who will be filming their respective Marvel Comics adaptations.

    News of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt’s involvement in Passengers may be a huge draw for the film. Seeing as how they’re both bankable leads with acting chops. It also helps that they each have high profile films that are coming out this year: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 starring Jennifer Lawrence, and Jurassic World starring Chris Pratt.

    “My Sis #Zendaya has invited me to dress up, kick some butt and have fun for two episodes! Today is the last day of filming the first episode and it has been a blast!!!!” Symonè shared. The 29-year-old actress made her last television appearance on State of Georgia, a sitcom that only ran for 12 episodes before being cancelled due to poor ratings.

    Perhaps Symonè can capture the magic of her work at Disney because she was surrounded by members of her old team. “Great seeing friends from the #thatssoraven days, and making new friends!,” Symonè posted.

    Kadeem Hardison who previously worked with a teeny, tiny Symonè on The Cosby Show is also working on K.C. Underground. Hardison welcomed Symonè into their set by posting a throwback video of their adorable scene in the classic show. “#tbt..me & a lil sweetheart! @MissRavenSymone’s video,” he captioned.

    Raven Symonè started out acting in the late 80s in sitcoms like Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper. She returned to television back in 2003 for That’s So Raven, catapulting her to one of the most popular teenage actresses during that era. For her performance in the show, Symonè was nominated for primetime Emmy Awards and the show received the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Children’s Series.

    After making films left and right, Symonè also made an appearance in the Broadway production of Sister Act where she played the role that was made famous by Whoopi Goldberg in the original film.
