  • Nancy Pfister Murder: Suspects to Appear in Court

Three people accused of murdering Aspen, Colo. socialite Nancy Pfister are due to appear in court today.

William Styler III and his wife, Nancy Styler, were arrested March 3 on charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in Pfister’s case.

A third person, bank teller Kathy Carpenter, 56, who reportedly found Pfister’s body in a closet of her home, was arrested Friday for first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder.

On February 6, Pfister posted a message on Facebook seeking a tenant for her home, stating that Carpenter would assist potential tenants.

“Kathy carpenter from alpine Bank will show anyone interested the ropes, watering greenhouse, Gabe’s stuff, etc. Very easy to contact me via email, thanks in advance!!!,” she wrote.

Pfister was the daughter of the late Betty and Art Pfister, who co-founded the Buttermilk ski area west of town that’s hosted the Winter X Games multiple times.

Pfister, 57, was found dead in her mountain chalet Feb. 26.

Pfister had been renting her home to the Stylers while on a trip to Australia, officials said.

In January, Pfister posted a complaint on her Facebook wall: “I’d like to stay in Australia but the people that were supposedly taking care of my house are not doing what they said they would do and they’re not paying rent and they haven’t paid utilities.”

She returned to Aspen and her body was discovered four days later.

Carpenter is being held in the Pitkin County Jail without bond, according to the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Stylers were formally charged today at 10:30 a.m. MT, and Carpenter will appear before the court for an advisement hearing at 3 p.m. MT.

Juliana Pfister told ABC News she couldn’t believe someone would kill her fun-loving mother because of an alleged rent dispute.

“How could someone just be so angry that they got kicked out of a house?” Juliana Pfister said. “There’s got to be something more. It’s hard to understand that.”

The Stylers have been held without bond. At their first hearing, attorneys for the Stylers waived formal advisement of the charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Pfister’s autopsy report is incomplete and all records in the case have been sealed.

  • Jennifer Hudson Parts Ways With Weight Watchers

Jennifer Hudson, 32, has met her weight-loss goals — 80 pounds lost — and has deemed it time to part ways from Weight Watchers.

The Dreamgirls actress announced the mutual decision to end her partnership of four years with the weight-loss company.

“After four years of a successful and rewarding partnership, Weight Watchers and Jennifer Hudson are ending our official partnership, though we’re confident Jennifer will remain a Lifetime Member,” a Weight Watchers rep told Us Weekly in a statement.

“Jennifer’s healthy lifestyle and successful weight loss has inspired so many – from her friends and family to our members and staff, as well as people around the world – and we know that inspiration lives on,” the statement said. “We will continue to support Jennifer in maintaining her healthy lifestyle and wish her the very best in her personal and professional life.”

“I have chosen to step away from my role as ambassador and I am excited for the year to come, with many new projects and lots of new music,” Hudson says in a statement to PEOPLE.

“My experience with Weight Watchers has truly been life changing. I am grateful for what I have learned throughout the process and will always take it with me.”

In November 2012, Hudson said that her goal had been met. “I’m at the weight I want to be,” she said in and interview with Redbook. “But I hear all the time, ‘Don’t lose any more weight, you need to stop.’ People are under the impression that I’m still losing but I’m not.”

Jessica Simpson, 33, is the latest big name spokesperson for the company. Since joining Weight Watchers, she lost 70 pounds since giving birth to daughter Maxwell, 23 months, and has continued to show off her slimmed down figure since giving birth to son Ace in June.

  • Fred Phelps: Controversial Pastor Said ‘Near Death’

The Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., 84, the controversial former pastor of the Westboro Baptist Church, known for his military and anti-gay sentiments, is in a care facility and near death.

The son of the former pastor, Nathan Phelps, posted about his father on his Facebook page Saturday.

“He is now on the edge of death at Midland Hospice in Topeka,” said Nathan Phelps, who left the church several years ago.

“I can tell you that Fred Phelps is having some health problems,” said church spokesman Steve Drain. “He’s an old man and old people get health problems.”

Members of the Westboro Baptist Church, based in Topeka, Kansas, are known to protest at funerals of soldiers carrying signs that say, “Thank God for dead soldiers” and “Thank God for 9/11.”

They claim the deaths are God’s punishment for American immorality and tolerance of homosexuality and abortion.

Westboro Baptist is a small church mostly comprised of Phelps’ extended family.

Last summer, Phelps was voted out of Westboro Baptist Church and moved out of the church and into a house, where he was watched to ensure he wouldn’t harm himself.

He eventually stopped eating and drinking.

Nate Phelps’ Facebook page confirmed the excommunication and his imminent death.

In 2011, the U.S. Supreme Court held that the church and its members couldn’t be sued for inflicting pain on grieving military families under the First Amendment, protecting free speech.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups in the United States, says on its website that Westboro “is arguably the most obnoxious and rabid hate group in America. The group is basically a family-based cult of personality built around its patriarch, Fred Phelps.”

  • Mayor Thomas Menino Battling Advanced Cancer

Former Boston Mayor Thomas Menino, 71, has been diagnosed with an advanced form of an unknown cancer, the Boston Globe has reported.

The newspaper said in an article posted on its website Saturday that doctors found “an advanced cancer of unknown origin” that had metastasized. Menino’s primary physician, Dr. Charles A. Morris, discovered the cancer in February, but its origin is unknown.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh released a statement of support on Saturday for Menino and his family.

“I’ve never known Tom Menino to back down from a fight, and I don’t expect him to start now,” the statement said. “Mayor Menino has always been here for the people of Boston, and we’re behind him today, 100%.”

Menino told The Globe his doctor was more shaken after making the discovery of his cancer than he was.

“My attitude really is, we’ll get through it,” Menino told The Globe.

“What else can you do?” he asked. “What I don’t want is people feeling sorry for me. I don’t want sympathy. There are people worse off than me. It’s my biggest concern — I don’t want to be treated any differently.”

The former mayor has received a lot of support via Twitter since his diagnosis was revealed.

Menino is the longest-serving Boston mayor in history, spending over 20 years in office, until his health problems forced him to decline to run for a sixth term.

He retired from the office a year ago and was been admitted to the hospital several times while in office.

His cancer woes began in 2003 when had a rare sarcoma on his back surgically removed. The following year, his doctors confirmed he had been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, a type of inflammatory bowel disease.

In 2012, the former mayor was ill for much of the year and had to be hospitalized several times for a series of ailments, including a respiratory infection. While he was in the hospital, he suffered a compression fracture in his spine and was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

And in May 2013, he returned to the hospital for surgery on an enlarged prostate.

Menino says he is scheduled for four chemotherapy treatments, after which his doctors will examine his progress. “I’m confident,” he said. “I feel great. And I’m not faking it.”

Menino said his wife, Angela, has been very strong throughout the long health battle the family has faced.

“She’s a strong kid,” Menino said. “I don’t worry about me. I worry about my family. I can take it.” He paused and added, softer now, “I can take it.”

“I’ll be OK,” Menino said. “I have to be. I want to watch my grandkids grow up.”

  • David Brenner, Tonight Show Fav, Dead at 78

David Brenner, who made more than 150 appearances on Tonight Show, died Saturday at the age of 78.

Brenner died peacefully at his home in New York City with his family at his side after a long battle with cancer, said his friend and publicist, Jeff Abraham.

Brenner, the one-time documentary film maker, also briefly hosted his own syndicated talk show in 1987 and starred in four HBO comedy specials. He was the author of several books.

Brenner was raised in working-class south Philadelphia and graduated with honors from Temple University. He became disillusioned with filmmaking and decided to give comedy a try.

“You don’t change the world by doing documentaries,” he told CBS Sunday Morning in 2013.

His first appearance on the Tonight Show changed his career overnight, literally. He went from being nearly broke to receiving job offers of $10,000 the day after he appeared on the show, a huge sum in that day.

He said Johnny Carson always expected him to do a monologue each time he appeared when most other comedians headed straight for the couch to talk to the host.

“Carson’s explanation was ‘I like to sit back, smoke a cigarette and laugh for six minutes’,” Brenner said.

In a 1995 interview with the AP, Brenner said he believed he would have been the host had Johnny retired earlier.

“I really believe that had … Johnny Carson retired in the early ’80s, then I would be sitting behind that desk,” he said. “I don’t think there’s any doubt.”

Brenner made a career-changing path when he decided to put family before career.

After a long custody battle with his girlfriend over their son, Cole, Brenner decided he needed to spend more time with his boy.

“In a nutshell, I couldn’t work more than 50 nights a year [out of town] or I’d be an absentee father,” he said. “That was when they were giving out the talk shows, the sitcoms.”

Brenner said he never regretted his decision to give up his career for his family.

“I didn’t even make a decision. I didn’t even think about it. How could you not do it? I don’t mean to sound noble,” Brenner said. “Besides, I come from the slums of Philadelphia and everything in my life is profit. My downside is what most people would strive a lifetime to get to.”

Brenner is survived by his wife, Ruth, sons Cole, Wyatt and Slade and a grandson, Wesley, according to a statement from the family.

Despite some reports that Brenner’s surviving spouse is Olympic skating champion Tai Babilonia, the two were never married. The pair had been engaged at one time, Abraham said.

Many stars have taken to Twitter to express their grief and expressions of admiration for the comedian.

  • Nikki Sixx: Mötley Crüe Bassist Gets Married

Mötley Crüe bassist, Nikki Sixx, tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend, model Courtney Bingham Saturday.

Complete with peacocks greeting the 130 guests upon their arrival, family and friends gathered at Greystone Mansion in Los Angeles to witness the “gothic rock meets French countryside” wedding, according to People Magazine.

The 28-year-old bride wore a custom-made gown made by her aunt who owns Janene’s Bridal Boutique, in Northern California.

“I used to drive her nuts when I was younger trying on a million dresses,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

Bingham said she didn’t want a traditional dress and was inspired by a dress worn by actress Jennifer Lawrence that she came upon in a magazine.

“I saw Jennifer Lawrence two years ago at the Oscars falling gracefully, perfectly, as she goes up to accept her award, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh, the back of that dress!’,” said Bingham.

The couple became engaged over a year ago. Sixx, 55, proposed while on vacation with the How2Girl expert in St. Bart’s.

Stylist Halle Reum threw a bridal shower March 2 at the Hotel Bel Air, decorated with flower arrangements created by the bride herself.

  • Kristen Cavallari Refuses to Vaccinate Son

Kristin Cavallari, 27, is sticking by her guns despite the backlash from friends and family as a result of her decision not to vaccinate her 1-year-old son, Camden Cutler.

The Laguna Beach star recently spoke out about of her beliefs and fears concerning the link between vaccinations and autism in several interviews.

“There’s really scary statistics out there, and to each their own. Autism wasn’t prevalent — like it is now — years ago, so something is going on, whether it’s the chemicals in our food or the vaccines,” she said to Huffpost Live. “Something is happening, and we can’t really ignore that. I choose to believe that I think it’s in the vaccines but, again, to each their own and that’s where I stand on it.”

Many believe Cavallari needs to read some other research.

According to Dr. Kenneth Alexander, chief of the section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Chicago, scientific studies involving millions of children has debunked the association between childhood shots and autism.

“Any association between vaccines and autism has long been disproven,” said Alexander. “Her words are dangerous, will result in the under-immunization of children, and an increase in morbidity and mortality due to vaccine preventable diseases.

Cavallari and her husband, Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, 30, are expecting their second child in May. Married in June 2013, the couple has decided that vaccination is not in the family cards.

The reality star says her son has never been vaccinated and she doesn’t plan on doing it for her soon-to-be born child, either.

“There’s really scary statistics out there, and to each their own,” she said. “Autism wasn’t prevalent — like it is now — years ago, so something is going on, whether it’s the chemicals in our food or the vaccines.”

The Hills star didn’t intend to make a big deal and says she’s not out campaigning against vaccination. But, she did feel she needed to clarify where she stood on the issue and why she has this particular viewpoint.

“Something is happening, and we can’t really ignore that,” Cavallari said. “I choose to believe that I think it’s in the vaccines but, again, to each their own and that’s where I stand on it.”

Jamie Lynn Spears and businessman Jamie Watson were married Friday in New Orleans.

Britney Spears and her boyfriend, David Lucado, joined mom, Lynn Spears, and approximately 150-200 guests to watch her little sister say “I Do.”

This is the first marriage for Jamie Lynn, who has a 5-year-old daughter, Maddie Briann. At one time she was engaged to Maddie’s dad, Casey Aldridge, but the couple called off the engagement in 2010.

Us Weekly reports that Maddie was the flower girl, carrying a bouquet of pink and white flowers and Eonline reports that Britney’s sons, Jayden James and Sean, walked together as ring bearers.

Jamie Lynn told MTV that her country love song How Could I Want More was inspired by her romance with Watson.

  • Elizabeth Vargas’ Husband Denies Cheating On Her

ABC journalist Elizabeth Vargas’ husband, Marc Cohn, is vehemently denying that he had an affair while his wife was in rehab.

“I have no comment regarding vicious rumors about a so-called ‘affair,’” a spokesperson said on Cohn’s behalf to the Daily Mail on Thursday.

“I have encouraged and supported Elizabeth’s recovery as her years of struggle have been hard on everyone,” said Cohn in the statement. “Out of deference to my family’s privacy, I will not comment further.”

This denial comes in the wake of a New York Post‘s Page Six report claiming the grammy-award winning singer had an affair with their friend, Flywheel instructor Ruth Zukerman.

According to a source, Cohn and Zukerman are “just friends” and only had one dinner together.

“Ruth is friends with the both of them,” said the source. “Elizabeth and Marc are separated. Both are legitimately entitled to have dinner with a friend. Ruth and Marc don’t have an ongoing relationship. They had one dinner together. There is no affair.”

Vargas, 51, entered rehab in November to treat her addiction to alcohol.

“Like so many people, I am dealing with addiction,” said Vargas. “I realized I was becoming increasingly dependent on alcohol. I am in treatment and am so thankful for the love and support of my family, friends and colleagues at ABC News.”

The mother of two left rehab in January and shared about her struggle with the disease and the moment she realized she needed help.

“On a Saturday afternoon I showed up for a 20/20 shoot and I was in no shape to do that interview,” Vargas told Good Morning America‘s George Stephanopoulos in a Jan. 24 interview. “I got out of the car I realized what am I doing? And that’s when I knew I needed to get help.”

  • Kilah Davenport, Child Abuse Victim, Dies at 4

Four-year-old Kilah Davenport, who was severely beaten in May 2012, died Thursday.

According to Jeff Gerber of the Kilah Davenport Foundation, Kilah stopped breathing Thursday at her North Carolina home. Kilah was taken to Northeast Medical Center after her mother tried and failed to resuscitate her with CPR. The little girl was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Kilah’s grandmother, Leslie Davenport, spoke briefly during a press conference attended by North Carolina Governor Roy McCrory.

“We’re not sure really what happened. There will be an autopsy to find out exact cause and we appreciate everyone’s prayers and support,” said Davenport. “Please continue to pray for our family. This is the second hardest thing we’ve been through. The first was when Kilah got hurt and now we lost her.”

“We know she’s dancing in heaven. She’s not in pain anymore,” she said.

“We have to support this family today,” McCrory said. “I had tears in my eyes when I found out.”

  • US Airways Flight 1702: ‘Harrowing Experience’

A US Airways pilot was forced to abort takeoff Thursday when a tire on the front landing gear of US Airways flight 1702 blew out.

No serious injuries were reported after the Airbus A320 en route to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport from Philadelphia International Airport came to a stop on the runway.

The flight was carrying 149 passengers and five crew members.

“We started skidding down the runway, people were screaming and crying. It was quite harrowing,” said US Airways Flight 1702 passenger Dennis Fee.

Another passenger said the emergency happened very quickly.

“All the sudden we slammed back into the runway and bounced, and we go up a little more and we slam again. It happened very quickly, so we didn’t know exactly what was going on,” Larry Grant said. “Almost instantaneously people from the back were screaming ‘fire, fire,’ and so passengers did what they were supposed to do and they pulled the emergency doors over the window, and we started to proceed and the ramps inflated, and we got everybody out. We slid down the ramps, very fast.”

Christopher Teaney told the Philadelphia Inquirer the plane “kind of shot up and then bounced down.”

“Bounced real hard,” he said. “Shot up again, and then nose-dived.”

Police praised the airline crew to evacuating the plane quickly.

Emergency crews sprayed protective foam around parts of the plane to prevent hydraulic fluid from spreading.

Airport spokeswoman Victoria Lupica said two passengers sought medical treatment following the incident.

Investigators are still trying to determine why the plane crashed, although one theory is the wind may have been a factor. The plane was removed from the runway and taken to a hangar and is still being examined by investigators.

  • Cross-Eyed Cat is the Newest Internet Viral Star

Cats and babies always seem to go viral pretty quickly on the internet.

Well the new cat on the block is Jarvis P. Weasley, the cross-eyed cat.

Oakland resident Daria Kelly, 51, rescued Jarvis from the city’s animal services shelter in 2009 when he was just a kitten. She was volunteering at Saving Grace Rescue Inc. and the local humane society.

Kelly — who is studying to become a veterinary technician — named her kitty after a rock star Jarvis Cocker and Harry Potter character, Ron Weasley.

“I had another cat that had an extreme surgery and I contacted a pet photographer to take pictures of her,” Kelly told GoodMorningAmerica.com. “He came over and took pictures of her and one day I sent him a picture of Jarvis and he loved it.”

“He sent it to his friend who runs Lovemeow.com and she ran an article last year and then a news agency found the article just this month and contacted me,” Kelly said.

According to Kelly, her friends had been trying to get her to host a Facebook page for Jarvis for years.

“I’m like, ‘I’m going to school. I’m taking care of cats. I don’t have time to social network my cat,’” Kelly said she told her friends.

Jarvis told GMA about her first encounter with Jarvis at Saving Grace Rescue Inc. when he had a severe upper respiratory infection.

“I would watch him and he was just the happiest and cutest kitten, even with snot coming out of his nose and his eyes dripping,” Kelly said.

“After the other sick kittens I was fostering went back for adoption, I snagged Jarvis to foster but I knew he was never going back,” she said. “He was just adorable and his personality is so strong.”

  • Michelle Beadle Says Yes to Prom Invitation

Paralyzed hockey player, Jack Jablonski, snagged the date of all dates to his on April 26 prom at Benilde-St. Margaret’s School in St. Louis Park: ESPN‘s The SportsNation cohost, Michelle Beadle.

His invitation is hard to beat because he asked his date on-air, and she said yes.

Jablonski was paralyzed in 2011 after being checked into the boards head-first during a high school hockey game.

His love of hockey led him to co-host a weekly hockey Night in Minnesota segment on radio sports station 105 The Ticket.

Jablonski asked his Twitter follower Beadle to appear on the show Wednesday. During the broadcast, Jablonski had a question for the sports analyst.

“I’d formally like to invite you to my prom,” Jablonski said.

“Seriously, I would love it,” Beadle responded. “Can I wear an ’80s dress to the prom? And no alcoholic beverages, Jack, I will be watching.”

“I know that he’s a badass and someone I look up to immensely,” Beadle told Larry Brown Sports in an email. “I was shocked when he asked today. And I adore him for doing it live on the radio. I’m honored to squeeze my 38 year old behind into a formal gown for a great night!”

  • Diana Peloquin Beats ‘Jeopardy’ Champ Arthur Chu

Goodbye Jeopardy champ Arthur Chu. Hello Diana Peloquin.

After reigning for 12 days and winning $297,000, Chu relinquished his title to the young University of Michigan law student from Ann Arbor, Mich.

Chu finished in third place with zero dollars on Wednesday’s edition of the syndicated quiz show, after which Alec Trebek congratulated him on his “great run.”

It all came down to Final Jeopardy. The 30-year-old risked — and lost — his entire $6,400 bankroll on the question: “He was the last male monarch who had not previously been Prince of Wales.”

“George VI,” responded Peloquin, the only contestant to answer correctly, upsetting Chu and finishing the day with $15,700.

“It was really surreal,” she said. “I watched with other law students, and they were cheering and clapping when I got a question right.”

Chu hails from Broadview Heights, Ohio, and describes himself on Twitter as “mad genius, comedian, actor and freelance voiceover artist.”

He wasn’t a fan favorite and in fact alienated Jeopardy aficionados with his aggressive tactics. For example, instead of finishing off a category’s questions one by one, he chose from different categories which seemed to confuse the other contestants.

He also played the bottom rows of the game board because he believed the Daily Doubles would be found there.

He definitely had one fan of his style — Peloquin —who used his tactics to upset the champion.

“I was really interested in his playing style,” said Peloquin. “I wanted to engage with that. … And I had lots of time to study.”

“I was really surprised,” she added. “I actually really admired his playing style while watching his games, so I was surprised that there was such a backlash to it.”

Of course, Peloquin has a long way to go now to take the crown from the all-time Jeopardy champion of a decade ago — Ken Jennings — who continues to hold the record with 74 consecutive victories worth a whopping $2.5 million.

Bobbi Kristina Brown Defends Skinny Bikini Photos

Bobbi Kristina Brown and husband, Nick Gordon, are lashing out after fans reacted to Bobbi Kristina’s super skinny frame.

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown‘s daughter shared pictures of herself on vacation over the weekend in an ity-bity-black bikini.

Her husband Nick Gordon posted a pic of the 21-year-old newlywed with the caption, “I gotta bad b––––.”

When the Twitterverse and the media began commenting that she was too skinny, the duo lashed out with Tweets of their own.

“My baby is perfect the way she is,” Gordon Tweeted on Tuesday, peppered with a few choice profanities. “And for the record she was made that way why change I know she is beautiful.”

Bobbi Kristina joined her husband on Twitter in her own defense, saying she was built just like her famous mom.

“I am my mothers child! Have you ever heard of a #fastmetabolism ?” she wrote. “Damn, lol, it’s incredible how the world will judge you 4ANY&EVERYthing.”

Criticism is not something new to the newlyweds. They caused a stir when they married in January.

Brown and Gordon were raised as brother and sister when Houston took Gordon into her home at the age of 12, so when they announced their engagement, it created another brouhaha from the media.

As reported by People, Bobbi said her marriage to Gordon had the blessing of her grandmother Cissy Houston and said Whitney wanted them to be together.

“I would tear up, this is exactly what she wanted, us together,” said Brown.

However, other reports said that Cissy was furious over their relationship.

Apparently, Cissy told a close friend, “What they’re doing is incestuous.”

“Krissy has told her grandmother that she doesn’t need her blessing to marry Nick, and the more Cissy objects to the relationship, well that only cements Krissy’s decision,” Star magazine reported a source as saying at the time.

  • Albino Blue Marlin: Is This Very Rare Fish For Real?

This is really cool, or maybe not so cool.

Pictures of an incredibly rare albino blue marlin were taken by a group of fishermen in Costa Rica, or were they?

The Billfish Report is calling these photos the first ever pictures of this beautiful and amazing creature of the sea.

Usually blue marlins are, well, blue. But, this one is pure white from the tip of its snout to the tip of its fin. How the marlin lived so long gives one pause — the white is just so visible against the deep blue sea.

Captain Juan Carlos Zamora and his mates Carlos Espinoza Jimenez and Roberto Salinas snagged the all white everything blue marlin from their boat, the 43-foot Spanish Fly, 20 miles off Los Suenos, Costa Rica.

Not to worry animal lovers. The trio released the 300-pound beauty, but not before they got some fantastic pictures to show the world what an albino blue marlin looks like.

    But hold on…

Not every one believes the marlin is truly an albino marlin. The International Game Fish Association has made a statement that corrects quite a few publications and reports out there speculating on the newfound billfish as albino.

“Although common names for marlin generally focus on color (e.g., black marlin, blue marlin, white marlin, etc.) color is typically not the best feature to use in identifying billfish. Especially in this case! The shape and size of this marlin’s dorsal and pectoral fins clearly indicate that it’s a blue marlin even though it’s not blue at all. The eye color – black, rather than red or pink – also indicates that this marlin is leucistic (which is a reduction in pigmentation) rather than albino.”
