  • Tom Hanks Stars in Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘I Really Like You’ Video and It Is Epic [WATCH]

Tom Hanks stars in Carly Rae Jepsen’s music video for her new single, I Really Like You, and it is epic.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Carly Rae Jepsen explained how it all went down.

Carly Rae Jepsen said her first meeting with Tom Hanks at manager Scooter Braun’s wedding was just a little awkward.

“There was a hummingbird in one of the tents and everyone was trying to free the hummingbird from the tent, and I saw a man grab a broom and I guess he was trying to move the tent so the bird could run free,” she said. “But in my mind – I may have had a cocktail or two— I thought he was going to attack the bird with the broom.

“So I ran over to him and I grabbed his arm and I was like, ‘Don’t hurt the bird!’ and he turned around and I was like, ‘Tom Hanks!’ So that’s how we said hello,” she continued. “And then I met his wife Rita [Wilson] and we hit it off. It was a nice little exchange – but nothing serious.”

Carly Rae said it was during a dinner between her manager and Tom Hanks that a “miracle” occurred.

“I wanted something Wes Anderson, kind of dark. Something to counter-balance how sweet the song was. And I had an idea that it would be great to have a male lead not just co-star, but like, sing the entire thing, something totally unexpected,” she said, adding that it was then the “miracle” happened. “Scooter was telling the story to Tom over dinner, because like I said they are friends. I wasn’t there but Tom apparently said ‘Well why not me, why didn’t you ask me?’”

Carly Rae Jepsen had nothing but praise for Tom Hanks during the shoot.

“The entire day he just wowed me,” she said. “I don’t think he knows that he’s Tom Hanks! He’s the sweetest, kindest, most humble man you’ve ever met. [He was] out in the freezing cold, singing my song take after take while I was in the trailer with my hot chocolate being like, ‘Good job, Tom. Do it again. He worked so hard and was in such good spirits. I don’t think the video could have come out better.”

  • Dan Aykroyd Pledges to Donate to a Fund Set Up For Children of Slain Police Officer

Dan Aykroyd Pledges to Donate to a Fund Set Up For Children of Slain Police Officer

Dan Aykroyd has pledged to donate to a fund set up for slain Philadelphia Police Officer Robert Wilson III.

Dan Ackroyd made the announcement during an appearance at the Philadelphia Flower Show on Friday, where he was promoting his vodka, Crystal Head.

Robert Wilson died Thursday following a shoot-out that occurred during an attempted robbery at a North Philadelphia GameStop store.

Wilson, an eight-year veteran with the force assigned to the 22nd District, was randomly in the store performing a security check and was taking a moment to purchase a game for his eight-year-old son when the armed robbers entered the store.

Wilson is being called a hero after he placed himself in harms way to protect store employees by drawing attention away from them. He allegedly continued to fight for their protection even after he was shot.

Thirty-year-old Carlton Hipps and his brother, 26-year-old Ramone Williams, have been charged with the officer’s alleged murder.

The Police and Fire Federal Credit Union set up the fund for Wilson’s sons, aged eight and one.

  • Khloe Kardashian and French Montana Back Together Again?

Khloe Kardashian and French Montana were photographed spending some time together in beautiful Key West on Thursday and many are wondering if the two are back together.

Eyebrows were raised when both Khloe Kardashian and former boyfriend French Montana instagrammed a photo of what looked like the exact same sunset at the exact same spot, however no mention was made of the other in their captions.

The on-gain, off-again couple seem to meet up every so often since they last broke up. On Feb. 12, Khloe and French were spotted with Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Lil Kim and Cassie partying together backstage at a Diddy/Snoop Dogg concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Khloe Kardashian and French began dating last spring. They broke up in September only to reunite soon after. Their final breakup came in December.

Or was it their final breakup?

    Nailed it!!!

In another photo posted by French Montana on Instagram, he is shown seated at a table in a very romantic setting. Unfortunately, we can’t see who is seated across from him.

However, the cryptic caption seems to hint at something having to do with Khloe Kardashian.

“Your eyes speak the truth when everything else is a lie,” writes French Montana.

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Aunt Claims Nick Gordon Under Investigation For ‘Attempted Murder’

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s aunt is claiming Nick Gordon is under investigation for “attempted murder” in connection with her niece’s near drowning on Jan. 31.

Leolah Brown made the claim on Facebook after learning that Nick Gordon would be taking part in an intervention on The Dr. Phil Show, which will be aired March 11.

According to the People magazine, Nick Gordon checked into a rehap following the appearance on Dr. Phil.

“Nick did go to rehab,” a source told People. “He is very distraught over what is going on. He really wants to see her. He is upset about a lot of things: her being sick, him never getting respect (from her family.)”

Leolah Brown directed her anger and words to Dr. Phil in her post, saying it wasn’t right that Nick Gordon was appearing on the show considering the circumstances.

“Nick Gordon is under investigation for the attempted murder of my niece Bobbi Kristina Brown,” she wrote. “We have strong evidence of foul play. Until this investigation is completed by law enforcement, I would ask that you or anyone else not provide this individual a platform to spin this situation to his benefit.

“If Nick Gordon does not have the courage to speak with my brother Bobby Brown and/or law enforcement about what happened the day my niece’s body was found in a bathtub, he does not deserve to have a platform to speak to anyone of your caliber until this investigation is concluded,” Brown continued.

It has been widely reported that police have launched an investigation into the Jan. 31 near drowning of Bobbi Kristina Brown, but they have yet to confirm if Nick Gordon was directly under investigation.

Roswell Police Chief Rusty Grant said that the police are “going to follow the evidence and see where it leads us.”

  • Calista Flockhart Keeps Vigil By Husband Harrison Ford As He Recovers From Plane Crash

Calista Flockhart is understandably worried sick about husband Harrison Ford after he crash-landed his vintage plane on a Los Angeles golf course on Friday and is spending as much time by his side as possible.

Harrison Ford, 72, reportedly suffered a bad laceration to his face, a fractured pelvis and a broken ankle in the crash and was transported to a local hospital, where family member, including wife Calista Flockhart and Harrison Ford’s son Ben and daughter Georgia rushed to his side.

Calista Flockhart, 50, looked tired and worried Friday in pictures snapped of her driving in Los Angeles between visits with her husband with a tissue in her hand.

“Calista arrived at the ER shortly after Harrison,” a source told People. “She looked concerned and stayed with Harrison until late last night. This morning, she drove [their son] Liam to school and then straight to the hospital. She is still at the hospital now.”

Married in 2010, the couple dated for more than eight years before tying the knot.

“They are a super loving, normal, down-to-earth family,” a source told People. “Flying is something they’ve shared. This whole thing must be terrifying.”

Fans were happy that Harrison Ford’s son, Ben Ford, Tweeted an update from the hospital Thursday night, explaining that his dad was “battered, but ok!”

“He is every bit the man you would think he is. He is an incredibly strong man,” he tweeted.

In another tweet, he conceded that the incident had been #very scary.

  • Chelsea Manning Must Be Referred to As ‘She’ by U.S. Military, Court Rules

Chelsea Manning Must Be Referred to As ‘She’ by U.S. Military, Court Rules

Chelsea Manning, a former U.S. Marine soldier undergoing gender reassignment from male to female, must be referred to as “she” or the gender-neutral Private First Class Manning, according to a new court order.

Chelsea Manning, who changed her masculine name from Bradley to Chelses in 2014, is currently serving a 35-year sentence in a Kansas prison for releasing classified documents to WikiLeaks.

In January, the government banned Chelsea Manning from using female pronouns in filings.

“Unless directed otherwise by this honourable court, the government intends to refer to [Manning] using masculine pronouns,” the government said last month.

However, a new court order has ruled that Manning cannot be referred to as a “he.”

“This is an important distinction for Chelsea, both personally and legally,” attorney Nancy Hollander told People. “But it’s most important on a personal level.

“You would not like being a called a man,” Hollander said to a female journalist. “And neither does she.”

Lawyers for Chelsea Manning have maintained that Manning’s gender dysphoria has been “trivialized and discounted by officials,” according to MSN, “barring the Oklahoma native from accessing the critical medical attention she needs.”

The U.S. Military still bans transgender individuals from serving in the military.

Nancy Hollander, Chelsea Manning’s legal adviser, the new ruling is “an important victory for Chelsea, who has been mistreated by the government for years.”

  • Diane Lane On Her Long-Awaited Return to the New York Stage — ‘There Are Wonderful Ghosts Here’

Diane Lane On Her Long-Awaited Return to the New York Stage — ‘There Are Wonderful Ghosts Here’

Diane Lane has returned to a New York stage in a new play by Bathsheba Doran, The Mystery of Love & Sex.

It’s been 37 years since she graced the exact same stage. In 1977, she was in the ensemble of The Cherry Orchard, which starred Raul Julia and Meryl Streep. She was only 12.

“There are wonderful ghosts here, actually,” Diane Lane told the Associated Press. “I feel like I walk past the ghost of myself.”

Diane Lane plays the middle-aged mother of a college-age daughter, who is coming to terms with her own marriage in the shadow of her daughter’s new, budding romance.

Diane Lane, 50, told the Associated Press said her decision to return to the theatre was multi-faceted.

“There were a lot of little things in there that I related to,” she said. “She’s 50. Her daughter’s 21. She has this whole Georgia thing. I lived in Georgia for a long time and that accent is very close to me. I felt like, ‘Oh, there’s enough familiar territory on the table for me to not feel like I’m completely out of orbit.’”

Although her love of theatre runs deep and she longed to return, especially considering her father, Burt Lane, was an acclaimed acting coach, family commitments kept her locked in to the West Coast.

“I moved to L.A. That’s a huge thing,” she said. “When your kid is in school, you’re anchor is out. It’s like, ‘Forget it. Call me in 20 years.’ Leaving your people to do a play is incredibly selfish. Yes, it’s incredibly selfish to do a film as well, but it’s not quite as long and not quite as immersive.”

Diane Lane‘s decision to move to Los Angeles in the 1970s did not necessarily sit well with her dad.

“He was very trepidatious,” said Lane. “He was very worried. He felt like the vampires live out there. He said, ‘They’ll punch in you in face in New York, but they’ll stab you in the back in L.A.’ He was worried. Especially in that era when there was no Internet and no anonymity. Now everyone stabs you in the face.”

Lane is following in the footsteps of some of the actresses she admires most.

“I loved Shirley MacLaine, I loved Vivian Leigh, and I loved Jane Fonda,” she gushed. “Those were my three archetypical types of excellence and self-possession. They possessed a kind of mercurial talent that they themselves were not necessarily even cognizant of. That is what I loved about real actresses that I saw in the theater.”

  • Taylor Kinney’s Ex Claims He Cheated on Her With Lady Gaga

Taylor Kinney’s ex-girlfriend claims that he cheated on her with his now fiancée Lady Gaga.

Brittany Sackett told the Daily Mail that she caught Chicago Fire‘sTaylor Kinney and Lady Gaga caught them when an accidental phone call was made to her phone from Kinney and she overheard the two of them in the middle of a make out session.

    Ouch.

“Taylor pocket dialed me at 2.30 in the morning. I could tell it was intimate conversation, I could hear kissing, muffled sounds and I recognized Lady Gaga’s voice,” said Sackett.

Hackett said her instincts immediately kicked in and she just knew what was going on.

“You have your instincts as a woman. Whatever he was doing shouldn’t have happened while we were in a relationship,” she said.

Brittany Sackett, 30, said she never said a word to anyone about the pocket dial.

“In that moment I was super sad, I was pi**ed. I never saw it coming. My boyfriend was making out with Lady Gaga – it sucked. I felt betrayed, who wouldn’t? I wanted to see how it played out, but later I saw one of his friends and he said to me, ‘You know what’s going on with Taylor and Lady Gaga right?”

“Sadly I did,” she continued. “Eventually I met with Taylor and he said he was really sorry but I didn’t want to hear any of his excuses. I told him how I felt, I told him he should have been honest so I didn’t have to find out through his friend. We talked about how we were weren’t a match for each other and we agreed to go our separate ways.”

Although Brittany Sackett says she is over the anger, the pain of the betrayal lingers.

“It was really unexpected, everything was going well and I wish he had come to me first and said he had this connection with her. It wasn’t fair to me, his lack of honesty. It’s weak-willed when you don’t have the guts to come clean like a normal, honest human being, I think I would have respected that. I’d like to think he’d do it differently now, I’m sure he’s changed and he’s learned from it. I forgive him.”

  • Vince Vaughn, Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney Take Polar Plunge in Lake Michigan for Special Olympics

Vince Vaughn, Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney jumped into the freezing, icy waters of Lake Michigan Sunday in support of Special Olympics.

Chicago’s Lake Michigan was the scene for fundraiser for Special Olympics, where the celebrities took their polar plunge.

Maura Bruton, a spokeswoman for the event, confirmed Sunday that Gaga did the plunge along with more than 4,500 other participants.

Vince Vaughn, a Chicago native, took the plunge into the icy water sporting his Chicago Blackhawks jersey and jeans. He waded in up to his knees before slowly sinking backwards in the water.

Lady Gaga made the plunge with her fiancé, Chicago Fire‘s Taylor Kinney, who went into the water bare-chested.

The event is in its 15th years. Last year, Jimmy Fallon attended the event and helped raise more than $1 million.

Seems like what a celebrity is wearing when they make the plunge is a big deal. Last year, Fallon jumped into Lake Michigan wearing a suit and tie.

  • Ozzy Osbourne Defends Daughter Kelly Osbourne, Telling Billy Bush to ‘Stop Acting Like B***H’

Ozzy Osbourne is having none of it.

After Billy Bush took Giuliana Rancic’s side in a Fashion Police controversy on air, Ozzy Osbourne advised Billy Bush Thursday to “lay off” his daughter Kelly Osbourne.

“Stop acting like a b—h,” Ozzy Osbourne tweeted to Bush. “Act like a man. Lay off Kelly or we’ll be going to hospital to get my foot out of your ass. God Bless.”

The tweet, which has since been deleted, came after Bush defended Rancic for how she handled the scandal over her Fashion Police remarks regarding Zendaya’s hair.

Billy Bush called out Kelly Osbourne and another anonymous staff writer during the on-air segment, noting that Giuliana Rancic was treated poorly.

According to Us Weekly, Rancic could have avoided the entire Zendaya dreadlocks issue if she had listened to co-host Kelly Osbourne’s recommendation.

Apparenely, a source from the set of Fashion Police told Us that the comments did not come on-air, but were taped, and taped several times because of the sensitive nature of Rancic’s comments.

“They did the Zendaya segment three times,” the source told Us. “Three different takes. On the first two takes, Kelly said, ‘Guys, we can’t say this. Zendaya is a friend of the show.’

Bush reached out to Rancic to get her comments on the allegations that the segment was taped numerous times, which Rancic denied.

The Access Hollywood host then laid into Kelly Osbourne.

“And the Kelly Osbourne part… that never occurred,” Bush reported, adding that he “doubts” things were okay between Rancic and her co-host.

“How could it be good?” he asked. “Kelly Osbourne threw her under the bus, in my opinion.”

    Cue Ozzy Osbourne’s wrath.

Bush further said a staff writer was supposedly involved but remains anonymous.

“Giuliana is taking the hit for this,” he said.

“That joke that Giuliana delivered, it was a written joke,” Bush said. “But that joke was a written joke. Which means there were a lot of people involved — and nobody saw racism.”

Following the episode, Rancic issued a public apology on E! News, which Zendaya accepted in an Instagram post.

Kelly Osbourne applauded Rancic for the apology, but has since resigned from the show.

  • Nichelle Nichols Remembers Star Trek Costar Leonard Nimoy, Whose Heart Was ‘Bigger Than the Universe’

Nichelle Nichols, who played Lt. Nyota Uhura on the original Star Trek television series, remembered costar Leonard Nimoy Friday as “a true force of strength and his character was that of a champion.”

“Leonard’s integrity and passion as an actor and devotion to his craft helped transport STAR TREK into television history,” Nichelle Nichols said in a statement to People magazine. “His vision and heart are bigger than the universe. I will miss him very much and send heartfelt wishes to his family.”

The legendary Leonard Nimoy died Friday after a battle with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Many of Leonard Nimoy‘s costars have said the actor has stood up for them over the years, including Nichelle Nichols.

“When it came to the attention of the cast that there was a disparity in pay in that George [Takei] and I were getting the same pay but Nichelle was not getting as much, I took it to Leonard and he took it to the front office and they corrected that,” said costar Walter Koenig.

Leonard Nimoy confirmed the incident to TrekMovie.

“There was also the case where George and Nichelle we’re not hired to do their voices in the animated series,” said Leonard Nimoy. “I refused to do Spock until they were hired. Mr. Roddenberry started calling me the conscience of Star Trek.”

  • Phil Robertson of ‘Duck Dynasty’ Claims STDs Are the Result of Sex Outside of Marriage and the ‘Revenge of Hippies’

Phil Robertson has done it again.

The Duck Dynasty patriarch used his constitutional right to free speech while accepting a free speech award — the Andrew Breitbart Defender of the First Amendment Award — at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday.

During his acceptance speech, Robertson noted that 110 million Americans suffer from sexually transmitted diseases, which led him to voice his view that sex outside of the confines of marriage is wrong and only leads to problems.

“I don’t want you, America, to get sick,” said Phil Robertson. “You’re disease-free, and she’s disease-free — you marry, you keep your sex right there. You won’t get sick from a sexually transmitted disease.”

There is a penalty to be paid from what the beatniks, and it morphed into the hippies — you say, what do you call the 110 million with the sexually transmitted illness?” Phil Robertson continued. “It is the revenge of the hippies! Sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll have come back to haunt us in a bad way.”

Phil Robertson has been in hot water several times for his outspoken ways. He was suspended indefinitely from his show by A&E following his anti-gay remarks made during a GQ interview in December 2013, but later reinstated.

  • Dakota Johnson’s SNL Monologue Mocks ’50 Shades of Grey,’ Features Parents Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson

  • Jennifer Lawrence Says Stop the ‘Tabloid Malarkey’ Over Feud Rumors With Director David O. Russell

Jennifer Lawrence is dismissing rumors that she engaged in a screaming match with American Hustle director David O. Russell on the set of his next film, Joy.

“I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey,” said Jennifer Lawrence about the reports.

Jennifer Lawrence has worked with David O. Russell on Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, for which she was nominated for one and won an oscar for the other. Rumors that she is feuding with the director has forced her to take an unprecedented approach for the actress — take to Facebook to discount the rumors.

On Thursday, TMZ reported that an eyewitness alleged that the director screamed at his star in an argument on Tuesday.

There is some precedent for the rumors. Russell does have a reputation for being aggressive with his actors.

One famous video shows the director screaming at Lily Tomlin on the set of the 2004 film I Heart Huckabees, and Russell and his Three Kings star George Clooney have gone a few rounds in the press and even engaged in a physical altercation on set.

And while there may have been a skirmish between Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russel, the actress is the most bankable star on the planet and has been influential in Russell’s resurgence in Hollywood, so their relationship is one worth salvaging and protecting.

Megan Ellison, head of the production company Annapurna Pictures, also weighed in on the accounts of discord between Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell.

  • Janelle Evans of Teen Mom 2 Arrested Again, Explains on Twitter

Jenelle Evans of Teen Mom 2 has been arrested once again.

On Tuesday, Janelle Evans, 23, was pulled over by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center for driving without a license, according to Myrtle Beach’s The Sun News.

According to the newspaper, Evans was held on a bond of $237.50 and released a few hours later.

This isn’t Janelle Evans’ first time to the rodeo, or police booking, as the case may be.

In April 2013, the MTV reality star was arrested for heroin possession and the alleged assault of her then-husband Courtland Rogers and then, in December 2013 — just eight month later — she was arrested for assaulting her then-boyfriend Nathan Griffith.

On Wednesday, Janelle Evans took to Twitter to tell her side of the incident.

In June, Janelle Evans gave birth to her second son with Griffith, whom she named Kaiser. She is also mom to six-year-old Jace.

Evans and Griffith became engaged in January in St. Thomas.

“We went to a fancy restaurant, and we were just going out to have a nice dinner,” Evans told MTV of his proposal. “[Nathan] just tapped his glass, stood up in front of the whole restaurant, and made this big speech. How he loves me, he wants to be with me for the rest of his life. And he’s really happy. And then he got down on one knee and proposed in front of everyone.”

  • Amanda Bynes ‘Is Much Happier’ and Doing Well, DUI dismissed

Amanda Bynes is doing much better than she was just a few months ago and is said to be “much happier.”

Last year was a troubling time for Amanda Bynes. She was released from a psychiatric facility in October after episodes of erratic behavior and outrageous Twitter rants against her father and was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder.

But, things definitely seem on the up and up.

On Tuesday, a Ventura County, California, judge extended the Amanda Bynes’s conservatorship, which are currently held by her parents, until a hearing on June 23, according to People.

Bynes’s DUI case was also dismissed, her lawyer David Esquibias told the magazine.

“Amanda is doing well,” Esquibias told People.

In 2012, she was arrested for DUI, but avoided incarceration by completing inpatient treatment, and then, in early 2014, she was placed on three years’ probation for the DUI.

“Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago,” a family source told the magazine. “She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”

  • JonBenet Ramsey Case: Former Police Chief Reveals New Details, Immediately Regrets That Decision

The JonBenet Ramsey case has mesmerized the world since the day the six-year-old was found murdered in the basement of her home in 1996.

Point man for information then and even now is Mark Beckner, the former Boulder, Colorado, police chief. He recently did a Reddit Ask Me Anything segment over the weekend, seemingly unaware that his answers were accessible to the entire world.

Beckner was the police chief during child beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey’s case. The news coming out of the police station was full of lurid twists and turns. Many still believe her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, who became celebrities in the process, were somehow guilty of the crime.

DNA evidence, which pointed to an unknown male unrelated to the Ramsey family, exonerated the Ramseys. Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy even wrote a letter to the family apologizing for any pain caused by a suggestion of involvement in the crime.

    The murderer remains at large.

On Reddit, Beckner’s surprising responses shed provided insight into the more complex and questionable aspect of the case.

After his answers were posted and published in the Denver Post, he had second thoughts about revealing what he knows.

He later told the Boulder-based Daily Camera newspaper that his participation in the online Q&A was a “misunderstanding and naivete on my part.”

Although Beckner’s comments have been deleted, the full cached version of the thread can be found here.

According to CBS6, via CNNWire, some of the more intriguing aspects of his answers were compiled and are found in their entirety, as reported by CNNWire below:

    1. What happened physically to JonBenet

Beckner: “We know from the evidence she was hit in the head very hard with an unknown object, possibly a flashlight or similar type item. The blow knocked her into unconsciousness, which could have led someone to believe she was dead. The strangulation came 45 minutes to two hours after the head strike, based on the swelling on the brain. While the head wound would have eventually killed her, the strangulation actually did kill her. The rest of the scene we believe was staged, including the vaginal trauma, to make it look like a kidnapping/assault gone bad.”

    2. His personal theories on who did it

Beckner: “I have avoided saying who I believe is responsible and let the facts speak for themselves. There are several viable theories.”

    3. Patsy Ramsey’s infamous handwriting test

Context: The day JonBenet was found dead, her mother Patsy claimed she found a 2.5-page handwritten ransom note in their home, demanding $118,000 for JonBenet’s return. The police later determined the note was written on paper from a notebook in the Ramseys’ house. The Ramseys underwent handwriting analysis to determine whether they could have written the note. John Ramsey’s sample seemed to show he didn’t write it, but Patsy Ramsey’s sample was labeled “inconclusive” and police at the time said they would pursue “unrehearsed” samples to examine. However, in the letter to John Ramsey, District Attorney Mary Lacy mentioned that she did not consider anyone in Ramsey’s immediate family to be under any suspicion in the commission of the crime.

Q: “When Patsy wrote out the sample ransom note for handwriting comparison, it is interesting that she wrote “$118,000″ out fully in words (as if trying to be different from the note). Who writes out long numbers in words? Does this seem contrived to you?”

Beckner: “The handwriting experts noted several strange observations.”

    4. The uniqueness of the 2.5-page ransom note

Beckner: “The FBI told us they’d never seen a 2.5 page ransom note.”

“No note has ever been written at the scene, and then left at the scene with the dead victim at the scene, other than this case.”

    5. Whether the crime scene was mishandled

Context: The investigation was plagued with claims the crime scene at the Ramseys’ house was not preserved properly, and that unauthorized individuals were allowed to move about the crime scene while the investigation was in progress.

Beckner: “Yes, the crime scene was not handled properly and this later affected the investigation. [The Ramseys’] position in the community may have had something to do with decisions made that day, but I think the primary reason was a perfect storm-type scenario. It was the Christmas holiday and we were short staffed, we faced a situation as I said earlier that no one in the country had ever seen before or since, and there was confusion at the scene… As a result, some evidence was compromised.”

“Yes, after that initial day, we felt pressure from the DA’s office not to push too hard on the Ramseys. This was a constant source of frustration and much could be written about this and the reasons for it.”

    6. Whether the motive for the killing/assault was purely sexual

Context: A 1999 grand jury report indicated there was reason to believe JonBenet was “sexually assaulted.” Details from an autopsy and comments from some experts, including one cited in a 1997 Vanity Fair article indicated the girl had abnormal genital injuries or conditions that could suggest sexual contact of some sort prior to the day of her death.

Beckner: “It just didn’t seem to fit the totality of the circumstances. Remember, she was hit on the head first, hard enough to render her unconscious. Then there was the staging of a kidnapping. Why do that if the motive is purely sexual?”

    7. What he thought about the John Mark Karr confession

Context: John Mark Karr was a father and teacher residing in Thailand who, in 2006, claimed he was sexually involved with JonBenet at the time of her death and that her killing was accidental. However, DNA tests confirmed he was not a match to DNA found in the girl’s underwear, and there was no reason to believe he was anywhere near the scene.

Beckner: “My gut reaction was that [District Attorney] Mary Lacy did not know the facts of the case and was making a big mistake. His confession, once they shared it with us, did not match the evidence at the scene. After she asked for our help in proving he did it, we knew in about 18 hours he was not the guy. We were able to confirm he was not even in Colorado at the time by just doing some routine checking and then obtained photos of him in Georgia at the time. The DNA test, which she thought would prove he did it, proved her wrong.”

    8. How the case affected his career

Beckner: “For me, it actually helped propel me to the chief’s position once Tom Koby left. It also gave me some credibility in the community based on a different approach I took with the media. I was more open and forthcoming with the media and I think that helped.”

    9. Why people are so fascinated with this case

Beckner: “The media attention and the intrigue of a good murder mystery attracts lots of people. Add a small beauty queen and it only intensifies the interest. If only 1 percent of the population is crazy, in our country alone that would mean there are about 3,600,000 crazy people out there wanting to give us their wacky ideas.”

  • Charlize Theron Is ‘the Love of My Life,’ Says Sean Penn

Charlize Theron has a very decided man in her life.

Sean Penn wanted to set the record straight when a reporter called Charlize Theron his “girlfriend.”

A reporter for France’s Le Parisien asked Sean Penn about his “girlfriend” Charlize Theron, when Penn stopped the interview right then and there.

“No, no, excuse me, Charlize is not my girlfriend,” Penn, 54, interjected. “She’s the love of my life.”

    Wow.

The couple were attending César Awards, France’s version of the Oscars, when the interview took place.

Penn attended with Charlize Theron, 39, to accept an honorary award, for which he received a standing ovation.

“We have a very strong relationship,” Penn told Le Parisien, adding that the two Oscar winners “have known each other for a very long time. But we weren’t together.”

Once the two found themselves single, they struck up and romance and have been dating for more than a year.

Over the summer the two were in South Africa, when Penn directed Charlize Theron in the upcoming drama The Last Face.

“I enjoyed it very much and we’re working on the editing now,” Theron told reporters on the Césars red carpet, “It will be ready soon.”

Sean Penn was previously married to Madonna and Robin Wright, and Charlize Theron split from boyfriend Stuart Townshend in 2009.

Penn’s latest film, The Gunman opens on March 20.

  • Bobby Brown the Subject of Angry Twitter Rant By Bobbi Kristina Brown’s Boyfriend Nick Gordon

Bobby Brown has become the subject of a series of angry tweets fired off from Bobbi Kristina Brown’s boyfriend Nick Gordon.

Bobby Brown and Nick Gordon have been embroiled in a bitter feud. Gordon has been barred by the family until he explains to Bobby Brown what happened the day she was found in her bathtub.

Nick Gordon has refused to meet the conditions of the family and is taking out his frustrations on Twitter.

“Your daughter is going to hate you when she wakes up,” Gordon tweeted to Brown on Monday. “It’s not like you know her anyways. What’s her favorite color? What’s her favorite smell, movie, food? You don’t know. I forgive you, she won’t.”

Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unresponsive in her Georgia home Jan. 31 and remains on life support.

Bobby Brown‘s lawyer issued a statement, saying that Gordon was given the chance to visit Bobbi Kristina but refused to meet the family’s conditions, which included a written explanation of “what happened to Bobbi Kristina.”

“To address the continued and neverending media requests for comment about Mr. Gordon’s requests to visit Bobbi Kristina, let me be very clear: Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina, and he declined to meet the terms of any possible visit,” said attorney Christopher Brown. “We are only concerned with individuals that can help Bobbi Kristina and bring resolution to this investigation. Obviously Mr. Gordon is not as desperate to visit Bobbi Kristina as he wants the world to believe.”

On Tuesday and Wednesday, Nick Gordon hit Twitter again.

Meanwhile, Bobby Brown has decided to postpone an upcoming tour of Australia in light of his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown’s medical situation.

The tour, which also headlines Treach and Kay-Gee from Naughty by Nature, was scheduled to begin on March 18 at Eatons Hill Hotel in Brisbane. The tour is now tentatively scheduled for May, according to ticket service Ticketek.

Concerts scheduled for March 20 and 21 in Sydney are now set for May 28 and 29.

  • Giuliana Rancic Apologizes to Zendaya Coleman For Offensive Dreadlock Comments

Giuliana Rancic apologized to Zendaya Coleman and others she offended by her comments made on Fashion Police about the actress-singer’s Oscar-night dreadlocks.

Giuliana Rancic told E! News Tuesday that the reaction generated from her comments has increased her awareness of “cliches and stereotypes.”

“They are damaging,” she said, adding that she and others have the responsibility to avoid perpetuating them.

The uproar came after Rancic said that Zendaya Coleman’s hair suggested the smell of patchouli oil or marijuana on Monday’s Fashion Police.

“I’d really like to address something that is weighing very heavy on my heart,” said Rancic. “I want to apologize for a comment that I made on last night’s ‘Fashion Police’ about Zendaya’s hair. Now, as you know, Fashion Police is a show that pokes fun at celebrities in good spirit, but I do understand that something I said last night did cross the line.”

“I just want everyone to know, I didn’t intend to hurt anybody, but I’ve learned it is not my intent that matters — it’s the result and the result is that people are offended, including Zendaya, and that is not OK. Therefore, I want to say to Zendaya, and anyone else out there that I have hurt, that I am so so sincerely sorry,” she said.

“This really has been a learning experience for me – I’ve learned a lot today – and this incident has taught me to be a lot more aware of clichés and stereotypes, how much damage they can do. And that I am responsible, as we all are, to not perpetuate them further. Thank you for listening.”

Giuliana Rancic took to Twitter earlier in the day to say that her comments had nothing to do with race.

Giuliana Rancic’s post came after Zendaya Coleman, 18, whose father is African American, called Rancic’s Fashion Police comment about her dreadlocks “outrageously offensive.”
