  • Nina Dobrev Wants To Play A Superhero Someday

    Nina Dobrev is pretty comfy in her role as Elena Gilbert (and Katherine Pierce) in the smash CW series, The Vampire Diaries.

    However, the blood-sucking beauty has her eyes on the future and that’s what she was talking about this past week at Comic-Con in San Diego. Nina Dobrev said that she would love to play a superhero sometime.

    She said she absolutely loves the comic book movie genre and loves the more modern take on the comic book movie.

    “I can’t wait to be a Catwoman or a Mystique or something, some day,” Nina Dobrev said.

    “I feel like superhero movies used to be a bit more action-y. There wasn’t much depth to them,” Nina Dobrev added. “[Studios are] figuring out that people want to see smart movies with smart characters that have a soul. They’re taking steps in the right direction. It’s making me enjoy the movies more.”

    That is so true. I must agree with Nina Dobrev on this one. This new crop are certainly not our parent’s superhero movies.

    Nina Dobrev may have to wait for a while to take on a superhero role, though. Her plate is pretty full with starring in The Vampire Diaries and keeping up with the drama entangling her and her ex-boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder.

    “Those huge movies take six to eight months to shoot, and that’s how long it takes to shoot a season of The Vampire Diaries.” Nina Dobrev said. “There’s no way I could do that until I finished the show.”

    “But I’m a big fan of the genre, which is why I want to do it,” she added. “I would love, love to do something like that.”

    Who knows? Perhaps Nina Dobrev could fill Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman suit for the next Batman? It could happen.

  • Duck Dynasty Star Compared To John The Baptist

    Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson has been in the news for what seems like forever now for speaking out on sensitive issues such as homosexuality. The Duck Commander has great faith and is not afraid to talk about spiritual things regardless of the consequences.

    Phil Robertson has stirred up more than his share of major controversy for Duck Dynasty, starting with his remarks on homosexuality last year when he proclaimed,

    “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

    Even though Phil tried to clear up his stance for the media, the damage was already done. However, through the whole fiasco, the Duck Dynasty patriarch didn’t back down.

    His son, Alan, who is a preacher and makes a few appearances on Duck Dynasty as the only non-bearded Robertson, has recently compared his father to biblical figure John the Baptist.

    “How many people make their way out just to talk to my dad about the good news of Jesus Christ? And so he was a lot like John the Baptist. He is that guy. Now I’m often reminded when I tell people John the Baptist that he also lost his head, for speaking the truth, right? In a culture that really wasn’t prepared to hear truth, and yet, you know what, that doesn’t change my dad’s view at all.”

    He said of the Duck Dynasty star, “Prophets tend to not care about their public image, they tend to talk about judgment as if it’s real, and they speak what God gives them to speak. And that’s what my dad does. So he is, in that sense, a 21st century prophet. What’s interesting is how it came to be is phenomenal. It really was just one prayer on a television show.”

    This is true about Phil and the stance he took. He spoke about some very culturally sensitive topics despite the risk it held for Duck Dynasty and stood by his statements.

  • Cacee Cobb’s Son Plays With Jessica Simpson’s Son

    Cacee Cobb and Jessica Simpson spent some time together over the weekend with their super adorable children in tow.

    The pair have been the best of friends for a very long time. Cacee Cobb has been through a lot with Simpson, including her divorce from first husband Nick Lachey. She was there for Jessica’s second marriage.

    The two have been there for each other through thick and thin. Now Cacee Cobb and Jessica Simpson are raising the next generation of BFFs. Jessica posted an adorable picture of her son, Ace, playing with Cacee Cobb’s son, Rocco, who was born shortly after Ace.

    Cacee Cobb and Jessica Simpson enjoyed being pregnant together with these two boys, now these sweet boys are really enjoying each other’s company!

    Cacee Cobb was married to Scrubs actor Donald Faison back in 2012. One day after they were married, they found out that she was pregnant!

    Cacee Cobb said, “Right when we decided we wanted to get married, we realized we wanted to have a baby. We were very lucky, though — we did it all in one weekend,” the actor said. “We tried so hard before we got married and it didn’t work.”

    Trying hard isn’t that bad for some people….

    “Well, before you say we tried so hard, there are a lot of people out there that tried really hard,” Cacee Cobb said. “We just had a sh-tload of sex and it wasn’t happening.”

    While the friends were pregnant together, Cacee was always impressed by Simpson.

    “Just watching her, I’m in awe because she makes it look easy — but it’s not, I can tell!” Cacee Cobb said of her best friend. “It’s kind of crazy to see her because she’s further along than I am and she’s chasing around Maxwell, who just turned 1 and is about to walk any day now.”

  • Mila Kunis’ Baby Girl’s Name Revealed?

    Mila Kunis has certainly been fun to watch over the last few months. Her bump is growing and is being draped in some pretty impressive maternity garb. The world is waiting to meet Mila Kunis’ and Ashton Kutcher’s new baby girl!

    Mila and Ashton have been fairly private about their lives, but one delicious detail was reportedly leaked recently from a source close to Mila Kunis.

    “A name being talked about and floating around is Finn,” disclosed this source.

    Finn is a sweet name and kind of becoming a popular one. However, that’s not why Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher are considering it. The name has sentimental value to Ashton Kutcher.

    “Ashton’s mom’s maiden name is Finnegan,” continued the source.

    The name is gender-neutral, and apparently Mila Kunis has made her nursery in the same fashion. No crowns and pink jewels for this baby girl!

    “It’s decorated green with baby animals,” added the source. “It’s jungle-themed.”

    Sounds adorable!

    It also seems that the couple is having a lot of fun being just a family of two right now. Perez Hilton revealed that he now knows how Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher keep their relationship spicy.

    An “insider” reportedly said, “They have non-stop sex. Mila [Kunis] is insatiable in bed and they cannot get enough of each other. Ashton thinks she is the sexiest woman he has ever met. They really just love staying at home. Mila loves to cook dinner for them almost every night and she is a really great cook.”

    We’ll see how insatiable Mila Kunis is in a few weeks when she’s pulling all-nighters with her sweet baby. It really takes it out of a girl!

    Nina Dobrev And Ex: Awkward At Comic-Con?

    Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder seem to be moving on with their separate lives. Nina Dobrev was spotted getting close with Ben McKenzie at a Comic-Con party in San Diego on Saturday.

    The two shared an embrace that was…well…not like you’d hug your brother. The rumor mill has been running full speed since that moment and it didn’t quiet things down when Nina Dobrev left Float Bar at the Hard Rock Hotel with McKenzie and the two shared a taxi to an unknown destination.

    However, McKenzie isn’t the only boy that Nina Dobrev has been getting close to. Rumor has it that the The Vampire Diaries star has been spotted with Derek Theler.

    But don’t worry, getting over her years-long relationship isn’t a one-way street and Nina Dobrev isn’t the only one moving on.

    Her amiable ex and The Vampire Diaries co-star, Ian Somerhalder, has been seeing Twilight beauty Nikki Reed. I feel I might be sensing a pattern…

    Things did seem to get just a bit awkward this week at Comic-Con when Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder had to appear together to promote Vampire Diaries season six.

    The problem is Nikki Reed was a mutual friend of Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. They even went on double dates with Nikki and her husband before her divorce.

    An insider claims that, “At the WB booth, during The Vampire Diaries cast signing, Nina [Dobrev] and Ian [Somerhalder] were separated by Paul Wesley,”

    Judging from the video, it was more than just Paul Wesley, but they were definitely separated.

    This source went on to say, “It was awkward, all the other cast were sitting way closer to each other.” the source said, adding, “As soon as the signing ended, Nina was whisked away solo.”

    Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder have been broken up for over 18 months, but the recent news about Somerhalder dating their mutual friend Nikki Reed may have Nina Dobrev feeling a little betrayed by both.

    If things are a little awkward between Nina Dobrev and her ex, we can only hope that it doesn’t show on screen!

  • David Lee Roth To Release New Solo Album

    David Lee Roth does, in fact, have a solo album coming out soon! Reportedly he has been working on it with guitarist John 5.

    John 5, who is currently working with Rob Zombie’s band, has helped out other bands over the years, but he started out with David Lee Roth in 1998 with DLR Band. This is a great musical combo and hopefully they were able to conjure up some of that reunion magic.

    John 5 seems to think it’s possible and has a lot of confidence in the project he worked on with David Lee Roth.

    “[Dave and I] just made another record, and it’s, like, the ‘California Sessions’, [Dave] was calling it,” John 5 said of his project with David Lee Roth. “And it’s 11 of the greatest songs you’ll ever hear, and it’s just me and Dave, and we had Gregg Bissonette play drums on it. And it’s unbelievable. There’s a song called Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bar & Grill. And you know, just great, great songs. And hopefully sometime it’ll see the light of day. But he’s, of course, busy with Van Halen and all that stuff. But it’s an incredible record.”

    “[The new album with David Lee Roth] was made not too long ago – like, probably, maybe, a year and a half ago or something like that,” he continued. “‘Cause I always go over to his house and we write music and things like that. It’s a lot of fun.

    John 5 went on to compliment David Lee Roth’s sound, saying it was just like it used to be. He seems to think his sound hasn’t changed much! That’s great news for David Lee Roth fans.

    “They’re all original songs. I would just go over to his [David Lee Roth’s] house during the day and write this music and then he would book the studio at night. So we would go into A&M Studios – Henson Studios, it’s called now – and we’d record. And it’s so great. I mean, it sounds like just Dave from that Van Halen I or II or Women And Children First era, [in terms of his] singing [style], and it’s incredible, man. It’s really incredible. He loves it too, so maybe it’ll see the light of day sometime.”

    So, what’s taking so long? I’m not a recording artist, but a year and a half seems like a lot of time between finishing an album and releasing it to the public. Maybe someone can make that part more clear? Perhaps David Lee Roth’s reported work on a project with Van Halen is taking up his time right now.

    Jennette McCurdy On Reddit: “I Am Not A Role Model”

    Jennette McCurdy doesn’t want to be a role model. At all. Not even a little bit.

    She has been through a lot in the last few months since the show that she shared with Ariana Grande, Sam & Cat, was cancelled. There is also the possibility that the cancellation was due to some semi-scandalous leaked photos of her and perhaps also due to a salary dispute.

    All of these things can be stressful for Jennette McCurdy and life right now is probably a far cry from what her life was like when she first started acting way back in 2000. In addition to all of that, she continues to mourn the loss of her mother who passed away on September 20th of last year.

    All of these things along with the pressure that comes along with being a celebrity may have led to Jennette McCurdy’s rant that took place Thursday on Reddit.

    Jennette McCurdy stated of her former image, “There was a time when I tried to live up to the aggrandizing title, that pedestal of a thing. Maybe it wasn’t so much that I was trying to live up to it. Perhaps I thought I could and I thought I was supposed to, so I gave it my best shot.
    It’s fine, I can admit it. Back in my adolescence, I was more amiable, bubbly, and on lightly humid days, maybe even flouncy. I was role model material and then some.”

    She seems to be trying to relieve some of the pressure of trying to live up to the Jennette McCurdy that everyone thinks she should be. She is trying to just be herself and be okay with that. This seems to be a pretty mature stance for the Nickelodeon starlet.

    “To remove myself from the role model battle, the falsified standard set by the bubblegum industry, is – in my eyes – to remove myself from the counterintuitive battle of attempting to be something perfect while being glaringly aware of my imperfections.” said Jennette McCurdy.

    She also encourages Jennette McCurdy fans to look around their lives for role models, not at celebrities like her, who are essentially strangers painted by media.

    Jennette McCurdy said, “For those of you who do consider me a role model, I hope you don’t read this and cringe. I appreciate you. I appreciate you so much!   • Shania Twain To Close Her Vegas Show

    Shania Twain will close the curtains on her show in Las Vegas on December 13th to the displeasure of many fans.

    The country music superstar followed the likes of Garth Brooks and Celine Dion when she sought success in Sin City at Caesar’s Palace.

    She made a grand entrance into Las Vegas in November 2012. Traffic was halted to make room for Shania Twain, who was riding a horse and accompanied by a small herd of them.

    Shania Twain:Still The One was an incredibly popular show for Shania Twain and her tenure in Las Vegas has been a very lucrative one. Many of her performances have completely sold out, solidifying Shania Twain as a Vegas favorite.

    If you haven’t been able to see Shania Twain: Still The One, it is reportedly quite the production. Shania belted out her hits accompanied by a massive band. She had dancers of many kinds, a flying motorcycle, multi-scent (?) show projectors and even some lovely trained horses. Sounds pretty amazing.

    She was aptly named Las Vegas Weekly‘s “Best Resident Performer” for their “Best of Vegas 2014” list. Just before that honor was given, she became the first artist to sell out two back-to-back shows at this year’s Calgary Stampede.

    Shania Twain will miss Las Vegas and Las Vegas, I’m sure, will miss her as well.

    Her show is not the only thing that Shania Twain was active in while living there. She also started Shania Kids Can, which is an organization that built a clubhouse at a needy school. They also provided activities for children that would help them work toward bettering themselves and their education.

  • Priscilla Presley To Fans: “Calm Down” Over Planes

    Priscilla Presley is doing her best to keep Graceland running and to keep the memory and presence of Elvis Presley alive. Insane amounts of fans flock to Graceland in Memphis, TN every August for Elvis Week to remember The King and get an intimate look inside of his glamorous life.

    However, some things may be changing for Graceland soon and Priscilla Presley has been taking some heat for those apparent possible changes.

    These changes that Priscilla Presley is dealing with have to do with Elvis’ two airplanes that he used, The Lisa Marie and The Hound Dog II.

    Elvis Presley Enterprises informed the owners of the Lisa Marie and the Hound Dog II, OKC Partnership, to prepare to remove the planes when their agreement ends next April.

    OKC Partnership bought the planes after Elvis died, and agreed later to keep them at Graceland. In return, they would get a share of ticket prices.

    This announcement of the planes’ removal is what set off die hard Elvis fans, some of whom went on to attack Priscilla Presley on Facebook for the actions.

    While “negotiations” weren’t really clear, Priscilla Presley does seem to be handling the running of Graceland like a good business woman and is doing a great job keeping his memory alive for fans, but some of those fans just don’t like change.

    During this whole fiasco, Priscilla Presley is dealing with Elvis Presley Enterprises and OKC Partnership being tangled up in a lawsuit filed in Shelby County Chancery Court over how tickets to the airplane exhibit are sold.

    Hopefully this thing will be cleared up soon so that Priscilla Presley and all of his fans can enjoy Elvis week together in peace.

  • Ghostbusters 3: Dan Aykroyd Announces Filming Date

    Ghostbusters 3 is finally going to happen, according to Dan Aykroyd. He says pre-production on the long-awaited sequel will begin in the spring. Dan Aykroyd wrote the first two Ghostbuster films and starred in them as Dr. Raymond Stantz.

    The wait has been a long one for fans of the iconic 80’s movies that also starred Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and others. It seemed that plans for a third installment might be forgotten forever when original ghostbuster Harold Ramis died early this year at the age of 69 due to complications of autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis. He was a favorite personality for many in the first two Ghostbusters, and it would be hard to picture Ghostbusters 3 without him.

    Ernie Hudson, who is excited to reprise his role as Winston Zeddemore, said of the Ghostbusters 3 production,

    “It’s unfortunate, you know, Harold is not here. Harold was the glue…he was amazing. He was an icon. So you’re going to get a Ghostbusters, but obviously it’s going to be a Ghostbusters without Harold,” said Hudson at the Niagara Falls Comic Con, “It’s going to be different. So it [Ghostbusters 3] has to be original and it has to be something that is worth all the 30 years of waiting.”

    I wonder if the production of Ghostbusters 3 will be as fun as the production of the first Ghostbusters film sounds.

    Dan Aykroyd says of the filming of the first Ghostbusters movie, “We owned the city here for a while. The first day we went out and were stealing shots all over Manhattan. No permits, nothing.”

    That was until the general public caught sight of the strange creatures in their ghostbuster suits.

    “It was pandemonium because people didn’t know what we were yet. And here we are with the packs and the tube, that green tube that we have there. You know what that’s for? When you see a ghost, you get scared, sometimes you lose it….”

    If the rumors are to be believed, we could possibly see Ghostbusters 3 in theaters early in 2016.

  • Halle Berry: Happy To Play Role Of Expectant Mother

    Halle Berry loves being pregnant, so it’s no surprise that she shines in her new role in the CBS series, Extant.

    “I’m the happiest in my life when I have been pregnant, truly. So to be pregnant again on a show right after giving birth didn’t scare me at all. I thought, ‘I’m going to ace that part of this, for sure!’” said Halle Berry of her exciting role.

    And ace it, she certainly has. Halle Berry is earning some rave reviews for her acting chops on the show. She plays a woman that just spent 13 months in space alone completing a solo mission who comes home only to find out that she is inexplicably pregnant.

    Halle Berry’s character is infertile, and she realizes that she is about to give birth to the world’s first artificially intelligent humaniod.

    Her outstanding performance in Extant could be the digression that Halle Berry needs from bland acting roles that seem to plague her. Catwoman and X-Men: The Last Stand have really done her no good whatsoever.

    Of course, as the icing on the cake, Halle Berry got to work with screen giant Steven Spielberg. She said of Spielberg,

    “A name like that, you don’t really sneeze at. I know the quality of his work and I know that he loves this sort of genre. This was a character that when I first read (the script) was so relatable to me. While I’m not an astronaut or scientist — far, far from it — I still had an understanding about the human quality of this woman and her struggle to not only find time for herself, but also to be a good mother. The fact that she’s a scientist becomes a little bit irrelevant pretty fast. It becomes very human.”

  • Beach Hole Collapses, Man Dies In California

    A beach hole collapsed on Monday, causing the young man who dug it to lose his life after he was trapped above his head in the sand for five minutes. The young man was identified by the San Mateo County Coroner’s office as Adam Pye, 26, of San Lorenzo.

    Pye dug a 10-foot-deep hole at Francis State Beach, which is about 30 miles southwest of downtown San Francisco. As he was standing inside of it, the beach hole began to collapse.

    Captain Jonathan Cox of The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said that about 30 people, including Adam’s friends and numerous bystanders, began frantically trying to dig him out with their bare hands and whatever tools they could find. They used buckets and other improvised tools to try to save Adam’s life, but to no avail. The beach hole collapse had swallowed his entire body.

    The bystanders were able to free his head from the beach hole collapse in about five minutes. Emergency personnel arrived just when his head was freed, but it was already too late.

    “When they got there, they discovered he was unconscious,” Cox said.

    He said that paramedics did manage to get his airways open while 30 firefighters, with help from some of the bystanders, used shovels and other equipment to free his body from the beach hole collapse. They succeeded, but it took about 35 minutes. When they attempted to revive him, Adam died at the scene.

    Such a sad and fairly common story that happens more than you would think. Please use this as yet another cautionary tale about digging deep holes, especially in something as unstable as sand.

  • Trader Joe’s Recall Also Affects Other Stores

    The Trader Joe’s recall that has fresh produce going to waste all over the nation is not actually just affecting Trader Joe’s.

    The alert is also for Costco, Kroger, and Wal-Mart stores, including Sam’s, among others. According to the recall statement,

    “Wawona Packing Company of Cutler, Calif is voluntarily recalling certain lots of whole peaches (white and yellow), nectarines (white and yellow), plums and pluots packed between June 1, 2014 through July 12,2014 due to the potential of the products being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.”

    It continued in explanation, “Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.”

    1,600 illnesses and 260 deaths are caused by Listeria each year in the United States. Outbreaks have been slowing down since 2001, but 2011 saw the largest outbreak in US history from contaminated cantalopes grown at a Colorado Farm. That outbreak caused 127 illnesses and killed nearly three dozen.

    “Fruit sold as individual pieces should have a sticker on it; the recalled product stickers will read ‘Sweet2Eat.” Wawona stated.

    No illnesses have been reported yet, and the recall is simply a fast reaction to an alert of possible contamination from an Australian customer. After the alert, equipment was tested and listeria was detected.

    “We are aware of no illnesses related to the consumption of these products,” said Wawona President Brent Smittcamp. “By taking the precautionary step of recalling product, we will minimize even the slightest risk to public health, and that is our priority.”

    Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. has also recalled several of its baked goods that contain fruit from the Wawona Fruit Company.

  • Misty Holt-Singh: Funeral Set For Shooting Victim

    Misty Holt-Singh’s funeral has been set for 11 a.m. on Monday. The Stockton, California woman was killed in a bank robbery last Wednesday. Holt-Singh was used as a human sheild by one of the bank robbers who took her and three other people as hostages in their attempt to get away. The other two robbery suspects were also killed.

    The investigation is still continuing as police try to figure out just what happened and what went wrong to cause Misty Holt-Singh to lose her life on that day.

    “Clearly, the family and the community suffered a tragic loss,” attorney Greg Bentley said. “Misty was a loving mother, wife, sibling and community leader. The manner in which she lost her life is tragic and it raises questions, and the family has asked me to assist them in getting answers to those questions.

    “We’re asking that all dispatch logs, audio recordings, video footage and other communications be preserved and provided to the family. We also request that each department provide guidelines and protocol pertaining to pursuit, emergency response, use of weapons and use of deadly force. We look forward to a full, open and transparent investigation that is informative to the family as well as the citizens of Stockton.”

    Family members of Misty Holt-Singh spoke out almost immediately about her death. Her daughter, 12-year-old Mia Singh, was waiting in the car as the bank was robbed. She spoke out bravely during a press conference involving several members of the family.

    She shared some memories of her mother, saying,

    “I remember when I first started softball and how she’d always go to my games, and she’d always bring my orange juice because I always wanted it,” Mia said. “And when we’d be in the car to go somewhere, I’d always be on my phone Snapchatting, and she’d always try to get in them.”

    Misty Holt-Singh’s son, Paul Singh Jr., 19, also spoke at the conference.

    “I don’t want to have to think that what’s going on is true,” he said. “I wake up and I’m hoping that it’s a dream and that my mom’s going to be there, but she’s not, and it sucks. It’s hard.

    “She was loved by everyone – all my friends, all my teachers, my youth pastor. Everybody who knew her loved her, and it’s hard to think that she’s not there anymore. It still hasn’t sunk in.”

    So sad. Hopefully, there will be closure for this family and they will be able to move on with their lives without Misty Holt-Singh.

  • Rachel McAdams On Lindsay, Ryan, and Stripping

    Rachel McAdams recently did an interview for Allure magazine which included an impressive photo shoot and some very interesting questions.

    The famously private Rachel McAdams has starred in many movies during her acting career, one of the most memorable being the now-classic movie Mean Girls. She starred in that quotable movie with Lindsay Lohan, who of course went on to become a taboid princess.

    However, Rachel McAdams had nothing but nice things to say about the troubled starlet.

    When asked about an interview in which the esteemed director of Mean Girls said that Lindsay Lohan felt intimidated by her, Rachel McAdams was surprised.

    She said, “If anything, I was in awe of her talent. I looked at her as this experienced actor, and she had great comedic timing.”

    Of course, one of her most memorable and romantic roles was opposite her hearthrob co-star Ryan Gosling in The Notebook. Obviously, fans have enjoyed the great memes that have been floating around featuring Gosling. However, it seems Rachel McAdams doesn’t keep up that much with her former co-star and ex-boyfriend.

    “I know you’re not going to believe me,” she says sheepishly, “but I don’t follow it.”, Rachel McAdams said of the memes.

    Aw, come on! You’re missing out, Rachel McAdams.

    Rachel McAdams also told of a very funny and scary moment of hers as an actress. She was filming Hot Chicks with Rob Schneider and began to question her career move.

    “I just remember breathing deep and thinking, Oh, my God, I have to go out there and do this striptease, as a man…as a woman. How did I get here?” she says. “It was probably one of the scariest moments I’ve had in my career. It stretched me in ways I could never have imagined.”

    She paused, then added, “Literally.”

  • Lisa Whelchel: Why I Didn’t Date George Clooney

    Lisa Whelchel discussed many things in an interview this week. Among those things was Mr. George Clooney and his stint as her co-star on The Facts of Life.

    “The truth is, he was kind of in his twenties, he was young, he was gawky, he was so much fun! He’s really aged quite well. Back then, it was kinda fun to have a big brother around.”

    Lisa Whelchel added, “I don’t know, maybe I was just not smart, or not thinking ahead, because I did not anticipate what he would grow into. I think if I had, I would’ve worn makeup to rehearsal a little bit more often.”

    Clooney is now 53 and Lisa Whelchel has forever missed out, because the eternal bachelor is now engaged to Amal Alamuddin. Too bad, they would have made a cute couple.

    Whelchel isn’t hurting, though. She is pretty busy herself. Lisa Whelchel also talked about her new upcoming Hallmark Channel movie, For Better or For Worse. The new movie stars another Facts of Life alum, Kim Fields. You may know her as the lovable Tootie.

    Lisa Whelchel is excited to be working on this particular movie and to be working with Kim Fields again.

    Lisa Whelchel said, “I am pitched a lot of scripts that are family-friendly, and I hate to say it, but a lot of them are really, really cheesy. Either that or they’re just trying to hit you over the head with a message. So when I got this one, I thought it was a great script, a delightful comedy that happened to have a nice message. I was enamored by it, so I signed on.”

    I’m sure that is certainly true. Some of those movies really do push the cheese factor.

    Kim Fields is just as happy to be working with Lisa Whelchel again. She says it’s just like old times.

    “They sent me the script and said that Lisa was attached, and I thought it was a great story. And after all the directing and producing, I loved not having those responsibilities. I could show up, get to work with someone I adore, and then go home! And I got to be comfortable in my post-baby skin!”

    Fans of Lisa Whelchel and The Facts of Life just might enjoy seeing the two work together again!

  • Big Bang Theory Creator: Cast Deserves Raise

    The Big Bang Theory cast, particularly Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Haley Cuoco-Sweeting, have been in the news in recent weeks for a seemingly bumpy contract negotiation process.

    The three main stars of The Big Bang Theory are reportedly asking for a magnificent raise in pay from $325,000 per episode to $1 million per episode. This kind of money isn’t unheard of. The cast of Friends earned $1 million per episode by the time their series ended.

    Besides, the creator of The Big Bang Theory, Chuck Lorre, thinks they absolutely deserve it.

    He said of The Big Bang Theory cast, “Everybody should be very successful and happy and rich. They earned it. It’s a great cast. Great cast. It’s their time.”

    Even CBS Chairman of Entertainment Nina Tassler doesn’t seem freaked out at The Big Bang Theory‘s possible stall.

    “We’re feeling very confident that everything will work out,” she said at CBS’ portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills.

    “These deals manage to get done somehow miraculously year after year,” she added.

    The executives in charge of The Big Bang Theory seem a little less worked up over the contract ordeal than the devoted fans of the show. Maybe that’s a good sign that things will work out?

    Let’s hope so, because Sheldon’s apparent exit at the end of last season had fans of The Big Bang Theory a little worried. While Jim Parsons is up for an Emmy for his role as Sheldon Cooper on the show, it appeared that he could be on the verge of being written out.

    However, show runner Steve Molaro said that this is not the case at all. He insinuates that they had no motive in the ending of season seven.

    “We’re making the best episodes that we can come up with,” Molaro said. “I have to move forward assuming everyone is going to be there. I have no reason to think they won’t be. That wasn’t a factor.”

    They had better get on with it, as filming for season eight is slated to begin on July 30th.

    Jim Parsons Up For Emmy Amid Exit Rumors

    Jim Parsons is up for an Emmy again this year, and by all accounts, that thing is as good as his. He has been nominated six times, taking home the Emmy three of those times so far. The first in 2010, then in 2011, and 2013.

    All those nominations for Jim Parsons’ work on the incredibly popular show, The Big Bang Theory, have him feeling surprised and honored.

    “I’m a little floored, I’ll be honest. The very first thing that hit me, and it took a while to sink in was, how lucky am I that I was a part of two different projects that have both been deemed mentionable, if you will, by the peers for this year.”

    The Big Bang Theory is also up for (and has practically already won) the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. One of Jim Parsons’ co-stars and his onscreen love, Mayim Bailik, is up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

    Jim Parsons has also been nominated for an Emmy for his role as Tommy Boatwright in The Normal Heart on HBO. This could be a really big year for Parsons!

    All this Emmy news comes at a rather turbulent time for Jim Parsons and the rest of The Big Bang Theory cast. Talk of contract negotiations being stalled and rumors of Jim Parsons leaving The Big Bang Theory are running rampant. Rumors began with Jim Parsons’ character, Sheldon Cooper, appearing to exit the story line as last season ended.

    They continue as contracts for leading stars Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and Johnny Galecki remain in limbo for the coming seasons.

    However, CBS Chairman of Entertainment Nina Tassler says there’s no reason to worry just yet.

    “We’re feeling very confident that everything will work out,” she said last Thursday.

    “These deals manage to get done somehow miraculously year after year,” she added.

    I hope she’s right. I mean, if Jim Parson goes, The Big Bang Theory would fall apart. That’s my opinion, but what is the show without Sheldon Cooper? Just Leonard and Penny. And we all know how that story will likely end, and most of us don’t care because we watch The Big Bang Theory for Sheldon and Amy Farrah Fowler.

    Hopefully this will all be settled soon and fans of Jim Parsons can stop wringing their hands and get on with life knowing that come September 22nd on CBS, The Big Bang Theory will premiere with all of our favorite nerds intact.

  • Misty Holt-Singh: Sister Takes Higher Road In Grief

    Misty Holt-Singh was used as a human shield by bank robbery suspects on Wednesday and lost her life. She left behind children, a husband, and an extended family in a too early death.

    In addition to Misty Holt-Singh, two of the three suspects were also killed in the robbery-turned-car chase.

    Misty Holt-Singh was on her way with her daughter to meet her cousin and get her hair done when things went so terribly wrong. Holt-Singh’s cousin, Stephanie Miller Rodriguez, said of that dreadful day,

    “She and Mia were coming to get their hair done, but she didn’t show up. I texted her on her cell phone and her daughter texted me back saying that the bank was being held up and that her mom had been taken hostage. I came home thinking she was OK because Mia had her phone, but found out later that she was killed in the gunfire. I’ve just been in a state of shock since then.”

    Misty Holt-Singh left behind children, a husband, and a sister who is willing to take the high road when it comes to dealing with her suffering.

    “Even though my sister was the victim of a terrible crime, there are other people out there that have also lost someone,” she said. “We do need to give that family, those families, respect because they’ve lost someone they love too.”

    Some of us might not be so graceful, especially losing a family member through someone else’s mistake or life choices.

    It was probably tough for Dawn Holt, Misty Holt-Singh’s sister, as well.

    “She was one of my best friends,” she said of her sister.

    “Today, a mother, wife, daughter and sister was taken from our family in a senseless tragedy,” Misty Holt-Singh’s sister-in-law Kumal Sidhu Singh said. “If there is a bigger plan, I really don’t understand. Our hearts are shattered…and our family will never again be the same.”

    Such a sad ending for Misty-Holt Singh. Hopefully her family will be able to find closure.

  • Kate Upton Hasn’t Always Smelled Great

    Kate Upton always looks, and I’m sure smells, fantastic. Just like her character in The Other Woman, I think most people assume that she sweats perfume.

    However, it hasn’t always been that way. Kate Upton has always loved horses, and has had them since she was six. That must have been great for her growing up, but according to her, it sometimes had its downside.

    “In high school, I would go to the barn to feed my horse every morning. A classmate complained that I smelled like a horse and asked to be moved to the other side of the room!”

    I bet that guy has some serious regrets these days, especially since the gorgeous Kate Upton has been talking about possibly doing Playboy in the future.

    One would think that her High School experience would make her a little more sympathetic to men who don’t smell spectacular, but one would be wrong. In a recent GQ interview, Kate Upton revealed that she doesn’t have much patience for a guy that shirks good grooming habits.

    “…if you think that someone smells bad then that usually means that you’re not attracted to them. It’s like your body is rejecting them. It’s pheromones.”

    Maybe. But she also said that guys can totally over do it with grooming. I guess if you have more products in your medicine cabinet than Kate Upton does?

    When Kate Upton was asked if she would snoop in a date’s medicine cabinet, she said,

    “Who wouldn’t?! It’s almost like this weird thing where you kind of respect a guy for not having too many products – but then you’re like ‘well that’s inconvenient for me!’”

  • Big Bang Theory In Danger Of Delay?

    Big Bang Theory production is in possible danger of being delayed if contract negotiations are not wrapped up before shooting begins on July 30th.

    The show’s stars, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, and Jim Parsons, each formally commanded $350,000 per episode. Reportedly, the trio could get up to $1 million per episode.

    Also enduring the crunch are co-stars Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik are still under contracts that they negotiated last fall.

    The Big Bang Theory had a similar situation in 2010, but the stars were under obligation to continue showing up under contracts that weren’t yet expired. Now, they are not.

    Will they show up if negotiations fail? That remains to be seen, but hopefully they will as the season 8 premiere of The Big Bang Theory is scheduled to air Monday, September 22nd. If it doesn’t there will be a slew of angry Big Bang Theory fans to deal with.

    However, CBS execs are not sweating it. They are pretty confident that the issues with The Big Bang Theory will work themselves out.

    You would think that producers wouldn’t have such a relaxed attitude in dealing with The Big Bang Theory, which attracts 19 million viewers an episode in the US and is ranked the number one comedy for adults 18-49, but it seems they are.

    The end of the last season of The Big Bang Theory on a cliffhanger, as Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is about to board a train to escape the many changes in his life, isn’t indicative of the cast possibly not being there for season 8.
