  • Zoey Tur’s Advice to Bruce Jenner On Transition

    Zoey Tur has made history as Inside Edition‘s first transgender reporter.

    This is a huge feat for her, because Zoey Tur used to be Bob Tur. Bob Tur was famous for reporting from a helicopter on O.J. Simpson’s police chase back in 1994.

    The decision to transition came after his 2003 divorce from wife Marika Gerrard, and just in the nick of time.

    Zoey Tur told People, “I was planning on suicide and I realized I had to face my fears. I decided I was going to give hormone replacement therapy a shot.”

    Since she did, the depression left and Zoey Tur never gave Bob a second look.

    While the hormone therapy made Zoey Tur exceedingly happy, and her son happy for her, Zoey’s daughter wasn’t as thrilled.

    “My son was great, he told me, ‘I support your decision and if this will make you happy then I’m on board,’” Zoey Tur said.

    She added, “But my daughter was shocked. She had a great deal of difficulty and we stopped talking for a long time.”

    However, the night before her debut as an Inside Edition reporter, Zoey Tur’s daughter came around.

    Tur said, “My daughter found out about it and sent me a nice note saying congrats on the job and told me that I look beautiful, which meant a lot.”

    Zoey Tur isn’t the only transgender individual who is turning heads in Hollywood.

    Bruce Jenner has reportedly finally told his family that he is ready to transition from a man to a woman.

    Friends say the Kardashian and Jenner clan is taking it pretty well.

    “They all came all around pretty quickly, but each of them had to process it in their own way,” A family insider told People. “All they want is for him to be happy.”

    The source added, “Kim went to Kris and asked her how she felt. They had a very long conversation about it. Once Kim was satisfied that Kris was emotionally okay, she was able to give Bruce her unconditional support.”

    It looks like the family is going to be behind Bruce Jenner 100 percent. However, the rest of the public is a little harder to win over.

    Zoey Tur had some advice to pass on to Bruce Jenner about just how to handle that.

    She said, “My advice is to be totally honest and transparent. Consider this a teaching moment to tell your own narrative. You’ve got to come out and stand up and be brave.”

    Kurt Cobain Biopic Was Hard For His Mother To Watch

    Kurt Cobain’s long-awaited biopic from director Brett Morgen, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck, includes many things that a mother just shouldn’t see.

    Morgen admitted that Kurt Cobain would be embarrassed for his mother, Wendy O’Connor, to see some of the scenes from various home videos and other footage, but that it was neccessary for the film to be real and “raw”.

    He told Rolling Stone, “When I showed Wendy the film for the first time, I told her there were things that no mother should see. And it was very difficult and painful for me to show her some of the stuff in the third act of the film.”

    Yeah, that would be really hard for any mother to see. Especially a mother who lost her son in such a tragic way.

    Morgen said of Kurt Cobain’s mother, “I know that she would prefer that not be in the movie, and I don’t blame her. Even seeing him having intimate relations with Courtney — I don’t think Kurt would have wanted Wendy to see that.”

    However, he insists that he has his reasons for exposing Kurt Cobain in such a harsh, yet intimate, way.

    He said, “But we weren’t trying to bring him down. We were trying to look him in the eye. I didn’t want to humiliate him. I don’t think there has ever been, or will ever be, another movie about an icon that’s this raw or intimate.”

    Morgen didn’t just have to get past Kurt Cobain’s mother, he was also confronted when he showed the film to Cobain’s sister, Kim. She was especially concerned about footage that showed Kurt Cobain under the obvious influence of heroin.

    He said of Kim’s reaction, “Kim said to me, ‘My brother was very embarrassed about his heroin use. Do you think he would want this in the film?’ And I said, ‘You know, one thing you’ve always told me is that your brother’s worst fear was that he would influence people to do heroin.’”

    He added, “And for the last 22 years, Kurt’s been associated with heroin, but nobody’s seen the ill effects of it. I’m not a social documentarian, I’m not trying to make a message film — but I’d like to think that scene could serve as a deterrent. So I said, ‘What if, 20 years after your brother’s death, he is able to save a life? What if one person sees that movie and decides not to do smack? What greater legacy, posthumously, could we give Kurt?’”

    That must have been an incredibly difficult thing to pass by Kurt Cobain’s family, no matter how long he’s been gone.

    Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck debuted at the Sundance Film Festival last month. The film will be released in the UK in April, then in the US in May.

  • Robin Williams’ Wife, Children Argue Over His Estate

    Robin Williams’ estate is being scuffled over by the late comedian’s wife of less than three years, Susan, and his children, Zachary, Zelda and Cody.

    Robin Williams‘ widow filed papers in a San Francisco court claiming that the children, from Robin’s two previous marriages, took items from her Tiburon home without her permission.

    She is still living in the home, which she shared with Robin Williams until the day he died, and says it and the things in it should be excluded from what Williams outlined that the children should have.

    The items that Robin Williams wanted his children to have, which are outlined in his will, include jewelry, memorabilia and other items.

    Robin Williams’ widow says that because he wanted her to continue to live at the Tiburon home, it makes sense that he intended for his children to have the things that were kept at his Napa Valley home only.

    “Any other interpretation would lead to Mrs. Williams’ home being stripped while Mrs. Williams still lives there,” her attorneys wrote.

    One of her attorneys, James Wagstaffe, said that this filing wasn’t meant to be ugly, but that Robin Williams’ widow is simply trying to more clearly understand the terms of the trust.

    “This is not ugly,” he said. “I would not say this is anticipated to be a highly contested proceeding.”

    However, the children disagree. They say that Susan Williams is “adding insult to terrible injury” by not letting them have the entirety of what Robin Williams left to them.

    “The Williams’ children are heartbroken that Petitioner, Mr. Williams’ wife of less than three years, has acted against his wishes by challenging the plans he so carefully made for his estate,” attorneys for the children said in court papers.

  • Milla Jovovich To Star In George R. R. Martin Film

    Milla Jovovich is reportedly in final talks to star in In the Lost Lands, a movie based on a collection of short stories by Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin.

    Milla Jovovich will play a witch, Gray Alys, who travels into lost lands, at the behest of a queen, to learn how to shape-shift into a werewolf.

    There are three stories tied up in In the Lost Lands.

    Milla Jovovich’s witch story is one. Another is a lady warrior who must battle a dragon to be with her love interest.

    A third is a little more outlandish. That one features a barbarian girl who is enticed by a witch in a spacecraft.

    Milla Jovovich is absolutely wonderful in everything, and this is sure to be no exception.

    George R. R. Martin is pretty excited to have her on board.

    He said of Milla Jovovich, “It’s a thrill to have her be a part of this, and I will look forward to seeing her bring Gray Alys to life. (Maybe I will be so inspired that I’ll finally write those other Gray Alys stories… but no, not until I finish A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE, calm down, friends).”

    The film is being produced by Steve Hoban, Oliver Luer and Nico Bruinsma and will be directed by Constantin Werner.

    The visual effects house that will create George R. R. Martin’s worlds will be Pixomondo. They have also done visual effects for Game of Thrones, The Hunger Games, and Snow White and the Huntsman.

    Into the Lost Lands will also star Justin Chatwin of Shameless.

    Bobbi Kristina Moved To New Hospital

    Bobbi Kristina Brown has been moved to Atlanta’s Emory University Hospital from the smaller hospital that was closer to her home.

    Bobbi Kristina is still fighting for her life with little change since she was placed in a medically induced coma.

    On Monday, Bobbi Kristina opened and closed her eyes a few times, but doctors told the family not to read too much into it.

    She also had seizures on the same day. Doctors were going to reduce the sedatives to check her brain function, but they decided to leave her in the coma for now.

    Bobby Brown released a statement asking for privacy.

    He said, “We continue to request privacy in this matter. Please allow for our family to deal with this matter and give Bobbi Kristina the love and support she needs at this time.”

    Family members told People that Bobby Brown is “inconsolable.”

    “This is his worst nightmare,” the source said.

    Friends and family are concerned that Bobbi Kristina was found in an eerily similar situation as her mother, Whitney Houston, was found almost three years ago to the day.

    “Losing Whitney was hard, but this is a million times worse,” the source says. “And to lose her in the same way would devastate him.”

    While Bobbi Kristina Brown and her father have had a rocky relationship and their family life is tense sometimes, she is still his daughter.

    The family is reportedly holding a vigil around her bed as they wait anxiously for a sign from Bobbi Kristina that she’ll pull through.

    “If she’s in there somewhere, we want her to hear us,” a family member said. “We keep it positive. We tell her that God loves her, that we love her. That America is praying for her and that everyone loves her.”

    Bobbi Kristina Brown is not married to Nick Gordon, said a statement from Bobby Brown’s lawyer.

    Bobbi Kristina is fighting for her life right now in a medically induced coma and her family is by her side. That includes Nick Gordon, who is now known as her longtime boyfriend.

    The two of them never married despite Bobbi Kristina’s talk about being a newlywed in numerous interviews.

    “We are currently investigating the events that led to the hospitalization of Bobbi Kristina,” Christopher Brown of Brown & Rosen LLC, legal counsel for Bobby Brown, said in a statement on Tuesday evening.

    The statement also said, “To correct earlier reports, Bobbi Kristina is not and has never been married to Nick Gordon.”

    Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unresponsive in a bathtub on Saturday in a scene that echoed that of her mother’s untimely death almost three years ago to the day.

    She was found by Nick Gordon, who was reported as her husband at the time, and a man who was arrested on drug charges last month, Maxwell Lomas.

    Bobbi Kristina now lays in a medically induced coma in a hospital bed surrounded by her family. They come in two or three at a time to sit with her and wait for a sign that she will pull through, though doctors have already told family to prepare for the worst.

    “The swelling [in her brain] has gone down,” says a family source. “The doctor says that that by itself isn’t the smoking gun that she’s getting better, but it’s still a good sign. But she’s still not reacting.”

    One of her family members told People, “If she’s in there somewhere, we want her to hear us. We keep it positive. We tell her that God loves her, that we love her. That America is praying for her and that everyone loves her.”

    Time is of the essence for Bobbi Kristina Brown. Will she pull through and get that second chance at life that her mother didn’t have? Time will tell.

  • White House Lockdown Ended, Mystery Package Cleared

    The White House lockdown that began before dawn Tuesday morning has ended.

    The cause of the White House lockdown was a suspicious package that was left unattended in Lafayette Park across the street.

    The president and first lady are in India, so there wasn’t an immediate threat to them. It is not known if the first daughters were home at the time.

    An explosive ordinance disposal unit examined the package, but nothing hazardous was discovered and the lockdown was quickly lifted.

    Press secretary Josh Earnest said at a news conference earlier Tuesday, “There is a device that has been recovered by the Secret Service at the White House. The early indications are that it does not pose any sort of ongoing threat to anybody at the White House.”

    This is the latest in what seems to be a string of careless mistakes made by secret service agents, which have resulted in four of the agency’s highest-ranking executives being reassigned earlier this month.

    The most embarrassing incident took place last year, when a Texas man armed with a knife was able to get over a White House fence in September. He was then able to run deep into the executive mansion before being subdued.

    Director Julia Pierson was forced to resign after that incident.

    An independent panel was called on to investigate the agency’s leadership and practices in the wake of the September incident, as well as a previously unreported security breach earlier that month.

    That panel recommended hiring a new director from outside the agency.

    And that was just the beginning. In November, the Homeland Security Department released an internal investigation about the fence-scaling incident.

    That report concluded that poor training, unresponsive staff, and a series of missteps allowed the fence jumper to get as far as he did.

    Are they right? Well, only Mila Kunis can answer that, but it sure seems like the actress could have easily told Ellen they weren’t married. But, she instead tried really hard to not tell her that they were.

  • Jessica Chambers: No Suspect, Investigators’ Fault?

    Jessica Chambers’ family and friends gathered on Saturday in Sardis, Mississippi to celebrate her birthday.

    Even without her, they seemed to be in fairly good spirits as they shared stories of her and released balloons into the sky in her honor.

    Jessica Chambers was burned to death in her car in a horrific attack that shook her family, friends, and all of those who live near her nearly two months ago.

    Jessica Chambers’ family had lovely things to say about her.

    Chambers’ Aunt, Deborah Sanders, said, “Here she was fixing to be 20, but she was still a young child at heart.”

    She added, “She would love all the balloons, whatever you did to makeover her, she would be ecstatic over it.”

    Jessica Chambers’ family may be coping with their loss, but they will likely have to wait for closure.

    Investigators say they still have no leads as to who may have done this horrible thing to Jessica Chambers.

    “We’re still not getting anywhere with it,” District Attorney John Champion said. “As far as who did it, that is the big question.”

    That is the big question, indeed, and some people have taken to the web to air their concerns and to criticize the investigators on the case.

    A petition on change.org has been set up to attempt to get the attention and support of the governor.

    Part of it reads, “Since this tragedy occurred the investigation seemed botched. Her car was also set on fire, she was found near her burning car. Instead of the crime scene being blocked off and secured the car was on a tow truck and taken to the gas station Jessica was last seen at on December 6th around 6:25 pm. The owner/worker at the gas station was allowed to photograph the car.”

    The petition accuses local law enforcement of corruption and tries to suggest that some gang members might be involved.

    Champion disagrees with the petition. He said, “I don’t have any concerns whatsoever about the way the crime scene was handled.”

    He added that he doesn’t think towing Jessica Chambers’ car to a gas station first had any effect on evidence at all. He said, “The car was burned so bad, we don’t know at this point what was in there.”

    Locals who were directly affected seem to think that the investigators are doing a fine job on Jessica Chambers’ case.

    “I think they are doing their job,” Chambers’ cousin, Windy Melton, said. She added, “These wannabe detectives [online] need to leave it alone and let the real people do their jobs and find justice for Jessica.”

  • Lindsay Lohan Sues Fox News Over Cocaine Insinuation

    Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina are suing the Fox News network, show host Sean Hannity, and commentator Michelle Fields.

    The suit brought by Lindsay Lohan claims that Fields, while on Hannity’s show, claimed that Lohan and her mother do cocaine together.

    The comments came just days after actor Philip Seymour Hoffman died of a drug overdose in February 2014.

    Lindsay Lohan‘s lawsuit says that the comments came during a segment of the show where, spurred by Hoffman’s death, Hannity and Fields were talking about celebrities who had died from drug overdoses.

    As they discussed people like Whitney Houston, Elvis Presley and Amy Winehouse, it seems they also mentioned “as a matter of fact” that Lindsay Lohan and her mother do cocaine together.

    This, in turn, sort of added her to a list of those who would soon meet the same fate.

    The problem is that Lindsay Lohan has been on a long and winding road to recovery from drug and alcohol abuse and is trying to inch her way back up to the top.

    Mark Heller, a lawyer for Lindsay Lohan, said in a phone interview, “People should be able to feel that if they hear something on TV or read something in the media, it should be truthful. Lindsay Lohan is on the way toward restoring her career and getting back on track, and something like this can be very fragile and hurtful to her.”

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown Opens Eyes Briefly

    Bobbi Kristina Brown has been fighting for her life for the past few days as her family and friends wait for a sign that she will pull through.

    A source close to the family told CNN that Bobbi Kristina Brown’s eyes opened and closed a few times on Monday, but doctors told them not to read too much into it.

    The source explained that her doctors tried to reduce the sedatives that are holding Bobbi Kristina Brown in a medically induced coma in order to check her brain function, but they decided not to.

    Bobbi Kristina Brown also suffered from some seizures on Monday, the source added.

    In a statement released by her family, they asked the public to respect their privacy as they gathered around Bobbi Kristina.

    She added that over the scanner, emergency services described an “ECHO-level response”, meaning urgent and life threatening, with “possible cardiac arrest.”

    Punxsutawney Phil predicted six more weeks of winter on Monday morning, making him the least popular rodent in America.

    The groundhog was accompanied by his top hat-wearing Inner Circle when he supposedly saw his shadow.

    The ceremony on Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania with Punxsutawney Phil was attended by around 11,000 freezing people.

    It hardly seems fair. Since 1887, Punxsutawney Phil has predicted more winter 102 times while forecasting an early spring only 17 times.

    Some people weren’t so jolly with Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction.

    Some were happy about it.

    But how often is Punxsutawney Phil actually right?

    In Punxsutawney Phil’s hometown, he is actually right only about 30 percent of the time! However, according to the Washington Post, it’s pretty much random guesses and chance. Obviously.

    They say that, “while Phil was technically right more times than not in some cities (it’s bound to happen in some areas because temperatures across the country do not rise and fall uniformly), the average temperatures between shadow and non-shadow years were slight at best. So, much like how you won your last coin toss, Phil is ‘right’ in these regions because of chance.”

    The Super Bowl ads in 2015 seemed to envoke more emotional ups and downs than in previous years. I could be wrong, but it sure did feel that way.

    Super Bowl ads traditionally hold a position of extreme importance on game day.

    Millions of people watched the Super Bowl ads in 2015. The Super Bowl attracts all football fans, whether their team is playing or not.

    The Super Bowl ads, however, attract people who don’t normally have any interest in football.

    Every year, Super Bowl ads seem to get more attention than the game itself. But, this year, as ads continue in the trend of coming out days or even weeks before game day, the competition seemed just a little more serious.

    The Super Bowl ads in 2015 were sort of a roller coaster of emotion.

    Idina Menzel absolutely killed it during Sunday’s Super Bowl performance. Her live rendition of the national anthem went just as planned.

    Unlike her performance of “Let It Go” during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, Idina Menzel brought everything she had.

    Katy Perry was the headlining half-time act, but Frozen‘s real life princess had her own swarms of fans waiting for her to sing.

    Several days ago, Idina Menzel assured fans that her performance would be live.

    And it was seriously live. After she belted out the last note, Idina Menzel yelled, “Yes!”

    That was awesome. You could really see in Idina Menzel’s face the sheer joy she had in singing our national anthem!

    At one point, during Idina Menzel’s performance, the crowd began booing.

    However, it wasn’t directed at her. It was because, for just a moment, Patriots Coach Bill Belichick appeared on the screen.

    Idina Menzel was asked if that was a distraction, to which she replied, “I knew better. I knew I hit the note well, I wasn’t worried it was me.”

    She added, laughing, “And they warn you.”

    Also pre-game, John Legend, performed an amazing rendition of “America the Beautiful” that was sure to bring a tear to the eye of even the toughest and most riled up of Super Bowl spectators.

    Birth Control Pill Inventor Dies At 91

    The Inventor of the birth control pill, Carl Djerassi, died on Friday from complications caused by cancer.

    He was 91.

    Carl Djerassi invented the birth control pill after leading a research team in Mexico City that developed norethindrone in 1951. Norethindrone became the key component in the first birth control pill.

    The birth control pill changed the way society viewed women’s sexual and reproductive rights.

    After the invention of the birth control pill, Djerassi wrote his book, This Man’s Pill, in which he says that the invention forever changed the way he saw society and science.

    Then, in 1969 he wrote a paper on the global impact of contraceptives. A year later, he followed it with an article on the possibility of a birth control pill for men.

    “The thoughts behind these two public policy articles had convinced me that politics, rather than science, would play the dominant role in shaping the future of human birth control,” he wrote.

    Many in the scientific community mourn the loss of a scientific icon.

    Richard N. Zare, the Marguerite Blake Wilbur Professor in Natural Science at Stanford, said, “Carl Djerassi is probably the greatest chemist our department ever had.”

    He added, “I know of no person in the world who combined the mastery of science with literary talent as Carl Djerassi. He also is the only person, to my knowledge, to receive from President Nixon the National Medal of Science and to be named on Nixon’s blacklist in the same year.”

    Can you imagine how different things would be today were it not for the invention of the birth control pill?

  • “19 Kids And Counting”: New Season Focus On Dillards

    19 Kids and Counting will be starting the new season on February 17th.

    According to the Duggar family blog, the new season will have a lot of focus on Jill and Derick Dillard.

    The Dillards are still sort of newlyweds and are getting ready for their first child, a boy, due in March.

    They reportedly have some home videos of their life and Jill Dillard’s pregnancy to share on the new season of 19 Kids and Counting.

    In the preview, shared by People, Derick and Jill Dillard practice their parenting skills by hosting a fondue and tea princess party for Jill’s little sisters.

    Derick Dillard brushes up on his nail painting skills, which he probably won’t need since he’s having a boy. But they may come in handy should consecutive Dillard babies be girls.

    “It was a lot of fun,” Derick said while talking about the sleepover later.

    His wife, Jill, seemed thrilled that her husband was having such a good time with her sisters and getting plenty of Daddy practice.

    She said, “Derick is doing great. He’s really good with kids.”
