    Amanda Bynes On The Road To Normalcy?

    Amanda Bynes just might be on her way to being normal again.

    The 28-year-old troubled starlet had it really rough last year. Amanda Bynes accused her father of molesting her, threatened to murder him, and was caught wandering around aimlessly and weirdly several times.

    Amanda Bynes, however, got some good news. Sort of.

    During a closed discussion on Tuesday, a Ventura County, California judge extended Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship order, which gave her parent’s control over her finances and medications, until a June court date.

    The good news is, Amanda Bynes’ DUI charge from back in September was dismissed. She was facing probation violation charges.

    Amanda Bynes is said to be doing much better.

    A family source revealed, “Amanda is doing much better from where she was months ago. She has her own apartment and is much happier. She and her parents are getting along and Amanda is clear-headed, more focused and has more independence.”

    That is a far cry from Amanda Bynes’ mental state back in November, during which she said in an audio recording, “If your father was my father … then you would understand why you’d want to slit his wrists … I haven’t decided how I want to murder him … I don’t believe in murder … He literally like is the worst person … Nothing would give me greater pleasure than like slitting his throat. That is what I would love to do.”

    The audio continued, “So like I’m not gonna like ever do such a thing, but like I call my mom and like I threaten to kill her, and I threaten to slit her wrist, and I threaten to like burn down her house and like I said a bunch of s––– like that.”

    Hopefully, Amanda Bynes will have a chance to get her life together and live like a normal young lady.

  • Jodi Arias Case With The Jury Now, What Will Be Her Fate?

    Jodi Arias now awaits the decision of a jury to decide her fate. The jury deliberated for about three hours before dismissing until next Thursday.

    The jury was handed the case of Jodi Arias on Wednesday after her defense lawyer made his final plea for her life.

    The case of Jodi Arias was a high-profile one which captivated the nation due to the scandalous details of her relationship with the victim, Travis Alexander.

    The extremely violent way in which Alexander was murdered by Jodi Arias was shocking, to say the least.

    Jodi Arias stabbed him multiple times, slit his throat, and shot him in the head.

    Now, the jury will decide her punishment.

    This is the second jury to deliberate over the fate of Jodi Arias. The first jury became deadlocked.

    What the jury must decide is, was the murder in self-defense or in a jealous rage?

    Jodi Arias’ lawyer, Kirk Nurmi, claims that Jodi was the victim in a twisted and demeaning relationship where she was sexually humiliated, then dumped for another woman.

    Nurmi also insisted that Travis Alexander used Jodi Arias as a plaything to quench his sexual urges. He said that Alexander called her demeaning names and told her she was soulless.

    “Why did we go from this sexual encounter to the killing?” Nurmi said. “Because of this tumultuous relationship. Because the emotional stress all this was bringing on.”

    The prosecutor portrayed Arias as a woman in an out of control jealous rage after Alexander broke off their relationship and planned a trip to Mexico with another woman.

    They also showed photos of the grisly crime scene.

    Should this jury also become deadlocked, then the death penalty for Jodi Arias will be thrown out all together as an option for the next jury.

    Then, a judge will be left with the decision to sentence Jodi Arias to life in prison or life in prison with the possibility of release after 25 years.

  • Jenelle Evans Arrested Yet Again, Will It Affect Custody Battle For Jace?

    Jenelle Evans just can’t seem to stay out of trouble.

    The Teen Mom 2 star was arrested on Tuesday and booked at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center about 2 p.m.

    However, Jenelle Evans didn’t have to wait too long in the pokey.

    Jenelle Evans was released about 4 p.m. after being held on a $237.50 bond.

    At least this time Jenelle Evans was booked for driving without a license. In the past, it has been much nastier.

    Jenelle Evans has previously been arrested for heroin possession, attacking her husband, stalking, harassment, breaking and entering, violating her restraining order, and assault.

    In fact, it is partly due to this raucous lifestyle that Jenelle Evans continues to battle her mother for custody of her first son, Jace.

    The court date to revisit the case nears as the battle becomes quite bitter.

    Jenelle Evans has found some sort of normalcy in going to college and trying to make something of herself. She has also found some stability in her relationship and caring for her baby, Kaiser.

    However, it doesn’t seem to be enough proof for Jenelle Evans’ mom that she can care for Jace.

    A friend of Jenelle Evans claimed that she tried to reach out to her mother, but the attempt was in vain.

    The friend told Radar, “Jenelle asked her mom if she could simply take Jace to the movies. But, Barbara said no, that they had plans.”

    The friend added, “Jenelle told her mom, ‘It’s not to sleep over — it’s just to go see a movie.’”

    We don’t know if this latest arrest, though it was a fairly minor offense and she claims no fault, will affect Jenelle Evans’ case at her upcoming court date, but only time will tell.

    Jenelle Evan was arrested again on Tuesday.

    The Teen Mom 2 star was charged with driving without a license.

    At least that is the tamest of Jenelle Evans‘ collisions with the law so far.

    In fact, Jenelle Evans is probably on a first name basis with officers. Jenelle Evans has previously been arrested for heroin possession, attacking her husband, stalking, harassment, breaking and entering, violating her restraining order, and assaulting another girl.

    Jenelle Evans, 23, was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center about 2 p.m. Tuesday and her bond was set at $237.50.

    She didn’t have to wait long, as someone bailed her out by 4 o’clock.

    Jenelle Evans quickly took to Twitter to explain what happened.

    Jenelle Evans didn’t seem too broken up about it, though. I’m sure she’s quite used to it by now.

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown Taken Off Coma Meds, Family Waits

    Bobbi Kristina Brown has remained in a medically induced coma since she was found unresponsive in her bathtub on January 31st.

    Bobbi Kristina Brown’s family has remained hopeful that perhaps a miracle could bring her back to the way she was.

    Despite things looking bleak for Bobbi Kristina Brown, they have faith.

    “There will be a sign of hope, and then nothing,” a family source told People. “Every day, we wonder if this will be the day that we get good news.”

    Bobbi Kristina Brown might get a chance to give her family good news soon.

    Doctors have weaned Bobbi Kristina Brown off of the medications that keep her in the coma.

    “We’re all hoping and praying that this will give us some answers,” says the family source. The source then added that Bobbi Kristina Brown’s health is still “severe.”

    What does a move like this mean?

    Subhashini Ramesh, a professor of NeuroCritical Care at Georgia Regents University, makes it clearer.

    He said, “They take them off a medically induced coma for two reasons: because the underlying problem has improved, or to simply get a sense of what the patient is able to do for themselves.”

    While we don’t know the doctors’ reasons for weaning Bobbi Kristina Brown off of her coma meds, there is a positive way to look at it, according to Dr. Ramesh.

    He points out, “Obviously, she did not meet the criteria for brain death if she underwent a tracheostomy,” Dr. Ramesh says of her surgery last week. “She still could have a devastating injury, though.”

    While all of these things are going on with Bobbi Kristina Brown, the family is admittedly trying to ignore the drama that is going on with Nick Gordon, Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend.

    Despite mounting social media pleas, Bobby Brown will still not allow him in to see Bobbi Kristina.

    However, Brown said through his lawyers that he offered him a chance and he didn’t take it. He said, “Let me be very clear, Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina and he declined to meet the terms of any possible visit.”

    The statement continued, “Obviously Mr. Gordon is not as desperate to visit Bobbi Kristina as he wants the world to believe.”

    The incredibly talented director, 84, and Christina Sandera have been rumored to be an item since last June.

    It isn’t known if Christina Sandera is still working at Clint Eastwood’s Mission Ranch Hotel in Carmel, California. However, if she is, I guess it wouldn’t be that big of a surprise.

    Christina Sandera is the second of Clint Eastwood’s relationships since his 2013 divorce from his wife Dina after 17 years of marriage.

    Right after the split, Clint Eastwood began seeing photographer Erica Tomlinson-Fisher, the ex-wife of college basketball coach Scott Fisher. Dina, in turn, was linked to the same Scott Fisher.

    That was weird.

    But, it didn’ t last long.

    “She hasn’t been around in awhile,” the same source said last June of Erica Tomlinson-Fisher. “He is with Christina and happy.”

    Indeed, Clint Eastwood did look really happy with Christina Sandera.

    Sandera looked stunning and not a bit out of place for their night together at the Oscars.

    She wore a long-sleeved, conservative lilac gown accented with tasteful diamond jewelry.

    Christina Sandera, however, wasn’t wearing a ring on her special finger, which happens to be one of the hottest accessories in Hollywood right now. Next to the baby bump, that is. And I’m guessing her chances of having the bump are slim.

    It would be hard to start over at 84. The ring, though, that remains to be seen.

    American Sniper‘s haul at the Oscars on Sunday night was minimal, to say the least.

    American Sniper has many a fan, including a lot of conservatives, but apparently it didn’t have what it takes to impress the academy.

    If you ask conservative talk show hosts, what it takes is tons of misery and victimization.

    The prod that got the ball rolling for conservative talk show hosts on Monday was the last minute change to the lyrics for the Oscars opening song. American Sniper‘s Oscars song lyrics were supposed to read, “A boy we watch become a man [of Boyhood] … a hero of Afghanistan [of American Sniper].”

    Instead, the American Sniper Oscars song lyrics that were sung were, “A boy we watch until he’s grown … a sniper in a combat zone.”

    Yep, they went and omitted the word “hero” from the song.

    Well, naturally, that had all of the conservative talk show hosts, obviously American Sniper fans, up in arms on Monday after the Oscars.

    It could be suggested that perhaps the last minute change was due to an accuracy issue since Chris Kyle served in Iraq.

    However, if that wasn’t the reason, the next best guess is that liberals in Hollywood object to Chris Kyle being referred to as a hero.

    This was too much for conservative talk show hosts.

    Add to that, the whole social issue agenda, as it was, and that makes a conservative political firestorm.

    For instance, Patricia Arquette said during her acceptance speech, “The truth is, even though we sort of feel like we have equal rights in America, right under the surface, there are huge issues that are applied that really do affect women. And it’s time for all the women in America and all the men that love women, and all the gay people, and all the people of color that we’ve all fought for to fight for us now.”

    Talk show host Glenn Beck insinuated that there were many issues much more critical than the ones that were bemoaned on Sunday.

    He said, “The insanity of this hobnobbing and how grotesque it was … What about equal rights in the Middle East? What about what is happening right now to the Christians, to the Jews, to the Muslims, to the women and children who are being slaughtered, crucified, enslaved and sold as prostitutes? What about them?

    He added, “Thanks a lot Hollywood. Go watch Birdman.”

    Beck’s colleague Dennis Prager said of Arquette, “You had a chance to talk to hundreds of millions of people in over 100 countries. What did you decide to talk about? With women being traded as sex slaves in the tens of thousands under radical Islamic rule in the Middle East and Africa.”

    He added, “And what did you decide to talk about? Wage inequality in America. You’re a fool. You’re a moral fool.”

    Prager also laid into John Legend and Common’s speech, which, among other things, suggested that the black community is still fighting for their right to vote.

    Because they might have to have an I.D.

    He summed the night up this way, “It gives you an idea, among other things, of how provincial these people are. They have no sense of human suffering. None. They are spoiled brats. That’s what they are. That’s the disgusting report from last night at the Oscars.”

    Hmm.

  • Columba Bush: Will Her Expensive Tastes Damage Jeb’s Presidential Campaign

    Columba Bush, though notoriously private, has come under the microscope recently for her decadent spending habits.

    Columba Bush reportedly tried to mislead customs officials about how much her haul was worth when returning from a five-day Paris shopping trip.

    She was then detained and fined. When Columba Bush‘s crime made it to the press, she said that she tried to mislead the customs agents because she didn’t want Jeb to know that she had spent $19,000 on the trip.

    That makes Columba Bush sound pretty normal! However, this wasn’t just an isolated incident.

    Columba Bush later said of the incident, “The embarrassment I felt made me ashamed to face my family and friends. It was the worst feeling I’ve ever had in my life.”

    The embarrassment, however, didn’t stop Columba Bush from taking out a loan less than a year later to buy $42,311.70 worth of jewelry on a single day, according to records filed with the state of Florida by Mayors Jewelers.

    This was a pattern that continued throughout a 14-year period, costing Columba Bush a total of around $90,000.

    Backers and supporters of Jeb Bush‘s possible 2016 presidential campaign have been worried that Columba Bush’s spending habits might harm his run.

    However, Bush family spokeswoman Kristy Campbell said by e-mail, “Mrs. Bush bought jewelry from time to time from Mayors Jewelers over the years. Though not required to be reported, these purchases in 2000 were included as accounts payable on Governor Bush’s financial disclosure that year, and paid off the next.”

    Sounds reasonable. Obviously, these purchases are well within the Bush’s means.

    But, it seems Columba may have, at other times, went to great lengths to keep her purchases secret from her husband.

    For instance, Columba Bush took out five different loans to pay for purchases at Mayors Jewelers. On at least one occasion, she listed the address at the governor’s mansion.

    But, on at least one other occasion, she had the paperwork sent to a P.O. Box. In another instance, the address was a UPS Store that used to be a Mailboxes, Etc.

    The big question is this. Will Columba Bush’s extravagent lifestyle make Jeb Bush seem isolated from the life of the common voter?

  • “American Sniper” Oscars Snub Surprising Due To Popularity, But Did Movie Affect Trial Of Chris Kyle’s Killer?

    American Sniper‘s Oscar nominations spread across six categories.

    While the film was immensely popular with moviegoers, earning over $400 million at the box office, it didn’t go so well on Sunday night for American Sniper.

    American Sniper‘s Oscar game was just off. The movie grossed way more than Sunday’s best picture winner, Birdman, but the academy didn’t agree with American Sniper‘s millions of fans.

    The unusual thing about American Sniper at the Oscars was that the trial for the man who killed Chris Kyle was underway at the same time that the movie, based on Chris Kyle’s book, was being celebrated in Hollywood last week.

    Because of that, there was concern that jurors in the trial of Eddie Ray Routh might be swayed by American Sniper‘s possible wins at the Oscars. The jurors were instructed to avoid media coverage of the trial, but were not banned from watching the Oscars on Sunday night.

    However, jury consultant Jo-Ellan Dimitrius didn’t think it would be too big of a deal, even if American Sniper had won big.

    She said, “When this jury goes into this jury room to begin their deliberations, I believe the most powerful evidence will be … from the testimony of the witnesses in the case.”

    She added, “That testimony is more powerful than anything you could see in a movie, anything that you could read in a newspaper, or anything that you could hear from a friend or colleague.”

    Of the jurors, she said she has full confidence in their abilities, saying, “Even if this movie wins six Academy Awards, that jury is going to do their civil duty by taking into consideration solely the evidence and the witnesses that they heard in the courtroom.”

  • Academy Awards Diversity Tension Diffused By “Glory” Performance And Speeches On Social Issues?

    The Academy Awards, which aired Sunday night, were shroud in tension even before the stars began walking that red carpet.

    The lack of racial diversity that was glaringly apparent among this year’s nominees threatened to ruin the Academy Awards this year.

    In fact, there were protests scheduled to take place before Selma director, Ava Duvernay, asked that they be called off.

    All 20 of the actor nominees were white.

    This spurred Academy Awards host, Neil Patrick Harris, to jokingly announce the nominees as Hollywood’s “best and whitest…sorry, brightest.”

    As far as the Oscars’ exclusive history, Darnell Hunt, a UCLA professor and director of the Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies and co-author of a 2014 diversity report on the film and TV industries, says it’s nothing new.

    “I was surprised but then I wasn’t,” he said.

    He added, “What we saw in terms of the nominations this year was business as usual. What we got was more or less an accurate reflection of the way the industry is structured and the way the academy is populated.”

    However, despite all the pre-Academy Awards tension, it seems the joking of the host, the social quips from winners, and an incredibly stirring performance of the song “Glory” from Selma by John Legend and Common, eased the friction a little bit.

    Christopher Sharrett, a film professor at Seton Hall University, managed to put the situation in a nutshell, “The ceremony managed to genuflect toward social issues … when the bets were that it wouldn’t, given the under-recognition of Selma.”

    Especially effective was the performance of “Glory”.

    Charles Bernstein, one of three music governors for the academy, said of the performance, “I really thought the standing ovation given to ‘Glory’ was the academy acknowledging that it was in error for not nominating [actor] David Oyelowo, or [director] Ava DuVernay for Selma.”

    But it meant so much more than that. The Academy Awards audience was treated to John Legend’s acceptance speech after the song won for best original song.

    In it he said, “Once a landmark of a divided nation, the spirit of this bridge is now for all people regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or social status. This bridge was built on hope and welded with compassion.”

    He added, “We wrote this film for events that happened 50 years ago but we say that Selma is now. We live in the most incarcerated country in the world. There are more black men incarcerated today than were in slavery in 1850.”

    The attention given to social issues really seemed to make the Academy Awards meaningful when all thought that the night would be a contentious white-out.

    Isla Fisher had an amazing week.

    The very pregnant wife of Sacha Baron Cohen started out Oscar celebrations on Wednesday evening. Isla Fisher and her hubby doubled up with George Clooney and his new wife, Amal Almuddin.

    The foursome dined together at Sunset Tower Hotel’s Tower Bar.

    It seems Isla Fisher’s belly wasn’t the only attention grabber of the night. The newly minted Mrs. George Clooney was wearing a “very short navy skirt” that showed off her “very long legs.”

    But, it didn’t end there.

    Kirk Cameron took a razzie for worst actor, and also for worst screen combo, which was listed as Kirk Cameron and his ego.

    That had to hurt Kirk Cameron, and his ego, a little.

    Cameron’s movie even won worst screenplay.

    So, perhaps Megan Fox shouldn’t feel too bad about herself.

  • Bobbi Kristina Brown: Was She Using Drugs Before She Was Found In Bathtub?

    Bobbi Kristina Brown was allegedly under the influence of drugs and possibly alchohol the morning she was found face-down in her bathtub, according to sources close to the situation.

    Sources told People that Bobbi Kristina Brown has a long history of using cocaine, heroine, and Xanax, and of drinking heavily.

    One source added that Bobbi Kristina Brown often appeared incoherent.

    Bobbi Kristina Brown had also reportedly been “in and out” of rehab in the three years since her mother died.

    “How thin she had gotten is an indicator,” the source said. “This girl was trying hard, but she didn’t have any support system. She was still dealing with a lot of grief over her mother.”

    Bobbi Kristina Brown was born to and raised by two parents who both struggled with addiction.

    In fact, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s famous mother, Whitney Houston, was found in an eerily similar manner almost three years to the day before Bobbi Kristina. Whitney didn’t make it. Autopsy results described her as having cocaine in her system.

    Bobbi Kristina Brown’s father, Bobby Brown, also fought with his demons for a long time.

    Bobby Brown told People, back in 2011, that seeing himself on the reality show with Whitney and Bobbi Kristina, Being Bobby Brown, “was partly why I got clean.”

    He added, “I saw exactly what I didn’t want to see about myself.”

    Of his older children, Bobbi Kristina, Landon, LaPrincia, and Bobby, Jr., he said, “They saw what I went through. They’re smarter than I am. They know better.”

  • Bobbi Kristina: Nick Gordon Begs To See Her, But Doesn’t Take Bobby Brown’s Offer

    Bobbi Kristina Brown has just passed the three week mark of being in a medically-induced coma and she still fights.

    Of course, the daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was found face-down and unconcious in a bathtub at her home on January 31st.

    As Bobbi Kristina lays in a hospital bed with her family holding a constant vigil by her side, Nick Gordon fights to see her, despite the family’s claims that he is bad for her.

    Bobbi Kristina’s father and her family have banned Gordon from visiting her in the hospital, and until now, he has respected their wishes.

    But it seemed Nick Gordon has had enough.

    But, Bobby Brown said through his lawyers that he offered him a chance and he didn’t take it. He said, “Let me be very clear, Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina and he declined to meet the terms of any possible visit.”

    The statement continued, “Obviously Mr. Gordon is not as desperate to visit Bobbi Kristina as he wants the world to believe.”

    Nick Gordon has been on Bobbi Kristina’s family’s bad side since the two of them started dating.

    In March of 2014, Bobbi Kristina‘s aunt, Marion “Pat” Houston, obtained a restraining order against Nick Gordon.

    She said Gordon had “made threatening comments and posted photos of guns with the intention of making petitioner fearful for her personal safety. Respondent then posted more photos of guns later and has sent harassing texts.”

    The report went on to say, “Marion informed me that Mr. Gordon wants Ms. Brown’s monthly allowance increased. Marion refused to relinquish the money. Marion stated that Mr. Gordon has turned Krissy against the family and in the process has said threatening statements to Marion and other family members.”

    It seems Bobbi Kristina’s family is pretty determined to not let Nick Gordon in that room.

    “We don’t talk about him,” said a family member. “Bobby doesn’t mention him at all, ever. We’re trying to give positive energy around Krissi, and Nick is not positive energy.”

  • Cameron Diaz Cleans House At This Year’s Razzies

    Cameron Diaz has had a great year, personally.

    The actress got married after living the single life for years, for goodness sake, and Cameron Diaz seems to be enjoying her new life with Benji Madden.

    However, professionally, life for Cameron Diaz wasn’t that great.

    Cameron Diaz won the title of worst actress at Saturday night’s Razzie Awards. She beat out Drew Barrymore for Blended, Melissa McCarthy for Tammy, Charlize Theron for A Million Ways to Die in the West, and Gaia Weiss for Hercules.

    This “honor” was bestowed upon Cameron Diaz for her work in The Other Woman and Sex Tape.

    The only movie that Cameron Diaz was in this year that seemed promising was Annie, but that too was shamed.

    Annie received the worst remake of the year award.

    Cameron Diaz was on a roll, but it was so close to being even worse.

    Cameron Diaz was on the list for worst supporting actress for Annie as well, but that went to Megan Fox for her role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

    Cameron Diaz wasn’t the night’s biggest winner (loser?), however.

    Kirk Cameron got absolutely slammed at the Razzies.

    His movie, Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas, earned the worst picture award.

    Kirk Cameron, himself, picked up the title of worst actor. His movie was also hit with worst screenplay and worst onscreen duo, listed as Kirk Cameron and his ego.

    Kirk Cameron’s Saving Christmas director Darren Doane was on the shortlist for worst director, but was saved by Michael Bay’s work on Transformers 4: Age of Extinction.

  • Liv Tyler Reveals Her Newborn Son’s Adorable Name

    Liv Tyler and her boyfriend, sports agent David Gardner, welcomed a baby boy on February 11th. He was six weeks early.

    Since then, Liv Tyler and David Garner have kept a pretty low profile except their visits to the hospital to visit their son.

    Despite his early arrival, their baby is healthy.

    Liv Tyler’s rep told Popsugar after their son’s surprise arrival, “He was born on Feb. 11. He is very early — six weeks — but healthy, and will be in hospital for a while.”

    Her rep added, “She would like privacy until she can bring him home.”

    On Friday, Liv Tyler finally told the world what they had named their newborn son.

    She posted a pic to Instagram that showed her son’s tiny hand with an anchor necklace in it. The pic had a caption that read, “Sailor Gene Gardner”.

    This is Liv Tyler’s first child with her boyfriend, sports agent David Gardner.

    Emma Watson, despite the hopes and dreams of everyone on the planet, is decidedly NOT dating Prince Harry.

    Sigh…I know. I had images of Hermione Emma Watson becoming royalty just like everyone else. The story goes, when Prince Harry heard that Emma Watson and her British rugby player boyfriend Matthew Janney broke up at the end of last year, he sent her an email inviting her to a party.

    12 friends accompanied Emma Watson to the party for comfort’s sake, but Harry and Emma Watson seemed to really hit it off.

    That is what is rumors subsisted on. The observations that Emma Watson and Prince Harry are really enjoying each other’s company and getting to know each other really well were just too delicious to be true.

    A friend of Harry’s reportedly told Us, “[It’s] fake. It’s such a random story.”

  • Bill O’Reilly Continues Hard Defense Of “War Zone” Claims

    Bill O’Reilly continues to hold his position and not back down against various media outlets that claim to have outed him as a Brian Williams-style liar.

    Bill O’Reilly was accused by Mother Jones of fabricating his many “war zone” stories from his time as a reporter during the Falklands war of 1982.

    On Friday night’s episode of his popular talk show, Bill O’Reilly spent about 10 minutes knocking Mother Jones and defending his statements. He said things like, “Mother Jones, which has low circulation, [is] considered by many the bottom rung of journalism in America.”

    The day before, O’Reilly called Mother Jones’ story a “giant piece of defamation,” “a lie,” and a smear. He went on to call one of the writers, David Corn, a “disgusting piece of garbage,” a “guttersnipe liar,” and a “far-left assassin.”

    Despite reports to the contrary, Bill O’Reilly claims in his bestselling book, The No Spin Zone: Confrontations With the Powerful and Famous in America, “You know that I am not easily shocked. I’ve reported on the ground in active war zones from El Salvador to the Falklands.”

    Also, according to journalist Tucker Carlson’s 2003 book, Bill O’Reilly dodged a question at Washington panel discussion about media coverage of the Afghanistan war with a vague reference to the Falklands war. Carlson recalled, “Rather than simply answer the question, O’Reilly began by trying to establish his own bona fides as a war correspondent. ‘I’ve covered wars, okay? I’ve been there. The Falklands, Northern Ireland, the Middle East. I’ve almost been killed three times, okay.’”

    And the list of Bill O’Reilly’s statements on his war experience from the Falklands war goes on and on.

    However, the problem is, there are sure a lot of people saying that Bill O’Reilly was never there.

    “There’s an undeniable contradiction” in what O’Reilly has said about his Falklands coverage, Corn said to CNN.

    In fact, CBS News’s chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer explained that the only “war zone” was in and around the Falkand islands, and “nobody from CBS got to the Falklands.”

    Schieffer added that he “came close” to reaching the Falklands, but the task proved “impossible.” He said he, Bill O’Reilly, and other reporters were based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

    Shortly after the Mother Jones piece ran, Bill O’Reilly stated, “I was not on the Falkland Islands and I never said I was. I was in Buenos Aires.”

    He explained, “If you were assigned to a war, you put on your resume you covered the Falklands, the Middle East, El Salvador, wherever it is where you were sent.”

    He added, “This is what journalists do.”

    Laura Dern, Other Actresses Gather At Pre-Oscar Party To Promote Women In Film

    Laura Dern gathered with fellow Oscar nominees on Friday to celebrate and promote women in front of, and behind, the camera.

    The event, which kicked off an exciting Oscar weekend, was called the Women in Film Pre-Oscar Cocktail Party and was hosted at Hyde Sunset Kitchen + Cocktails in Los Angeles.

    Besides Laura Dern, the famous female faces included the stunning and talented Meryl Streep, Rosamund Pike, and newcomers like Elle Fanning.

    Laura Dern is one among a small pool of females in Hollywood that are wanting to promote and acknowlege women who star in, direct, cast, design costumes for, and do so many other jobs to make some of Hollywood’s biggest movies and great independent films happen.

    Lately, there has been a movement to bring a bigger female voice to Hollywood, which Laura Dern, Meryl Streep, and many other actresses find glaringly male.

    They aren’t alone, however. There are many men who have taken up the cause to support their female colleagues.

    Peter Fonda, for example, has been very outspoken about women and equality in Hollywood.

    “We can’t just stop at Kathryn Bigelow,” he said, speaking of the only female director to ever win an Oscar.

    He then proceeded to sum up the American film industry’s view of women and that of Britian, saying, “There are so many more women who are writers, who are actors, who are producers and they should be able to stand just even with all the males. Hollywood’s got a screwball way of doing it.”

    He added. “Unlike in Great Britain where they revere their older actors and actresses, here, all the women are chasing youth and it’s a terrible thing.”

    While that holds true for many actresses of today, great women like the above-mentioned Laura Dern and Meryl Streep seem to age gracefully and not try to keep up with their younger counter parts. And they are doing just fine.

    In fact, Meryl Streep has had some huge successes of late, like her magnificent role in Into the Woods.

    Laura Dern isn’t doing so bad herself.

    Laura Dern has signed on to join Michelle Williams in Kelly Reichardt’s next film, which remains an untitled independent film based on short stories by Maile Meloy.

    She has a big Oscar weekend in the works with her nomination for Wild. She has previously starred in The Fault in Our Stars, When the Game Stands Tall and the upcoming 99 Homes.

  • Karlie Kloss Leaving Victoria Secret, Headed To NYU

    Karlie Kloss will be retiring her angel wings at the end of her contract.

    She will reportedly be trading the wings for a pile of books.

    Karlie Kloss told Vogue that she was recently accepted to NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. The acceptance is, in part, thanks to NYU alum Christy Turlington, who wrote a letter of recommedation for Karlie Kloss.

    Kloss said, “I was waiting for the mail to arrive every single day.”

    She added, “It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a very long time.”

    Karlie Kloss doesn’t even know what she’ll study, but for now, she’s thrilled to be taking classes at NYU.

    However, Kalie Kloss‘ studies will not hamper her modelling career.

    She said, “I’ll still be working full-time. I’m incredibly ambitious and have lots of goals within my career that I’m not slowing down on anytime soon.”

    Along with her new role as college student, Karlie Kloss will be walking the runway and representing brands like Kate Spade New York and L’Oréal Paris.

    But, she will undoubtedly look back on her Victoria’s Secret days with fondness. And they will look back on her time with them as something incredibly special.

    Ed Razek of Victoria’s Secret said of Karlie Kloss’ time there, “Karlie and I met several months ago to discuss the many things she hoped to do in her life and career. As we talked, it became clear she would not have the time to fulfill her myriad commitments.”

    He added, “Reluctantly, we agreed she would leave the brand at the end of her contract. Karlie is one of a kind, a very close friend, someone I truly admire and love.     Those are some sweet words about a model who has the reputation of being a really nice girl and amazing to work with.
