  • Depression Symptoms: Pediatrician’s Office Perfect Place To Screen New Moms For Postpartum Depression

    Depression symptoms in new moms are hard to screen for because, many times, new moms generally don’t want to seek help.

    Whether it’s because of the possibility of embarrassment, because they don’t want people to think they can’t handle life as a mom or for a number of any other reasons, depressions symptoms in new moms go under-reported.

    A new study found that between 2004 and 2013, the number of pediatricians who asked new moms about depression symptoms increased from 33 percent to 44 percent.

    Study co-author Dr. Ruth Stein, who is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in New York City, said in a hospital news release, “Maternal depression is often overlooked and untreated because women with mental health issues do not routinely access health care for themselves.”

    She added, “The pediatrician’s office is a frequently visited venue for mothers, offering invaluable opportunities for pediatricians to identify the condition and connect moms with services that can help families thrive.”

    The rise in depression symptom queries shows a positive change in the way postpartum depression is perceived, but that number is still too low.

    Postpartum depression symptoms affect around 40 percent of new mothers, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of.

    Recently, actress Hayden Panettierre revealed on Live with Kelly and Michael in September that she had postpartum depression symptoms after she gave birth to her daughter, Kaya in December of 2014. She entered a treatment facility a few weeks later.

    After the whole thing was over, Panettierre was so glad that she had admitted she was having postpartum depression symptoms.

    She said, “I was always so terrified that people weren’t going to accept me. I finally just went, ‘I’m tired of living afraid. I’m tired of living in fear of what people are going to think, so, you know, I’m just going to put it all out there on the table.’”

    She added, “The more open I was, the more acceptance I got from people. I got so much support and so much love. I was floored. I feel much more exposed, yes, but in a great way.”

    Sophie Trudeau has some big fashion decisions to make this week.

    As the White House prepares for Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau and his wife, Sophie Trudeau, every detail is being delicately handled and the finishing touches are undoubtedly being checked off.

    But, while a White House state visit is a big affair, some might be wondering just what Sophie Trudeau will wear to the state dinner.

    Oh, and there was a run in her hose that made her dress look “racy.”

    In answer to the wide-spread criticism, she wore a skin-tight, even shorter dress the next night.

    The state visit is not just about Sophie Trudeau’s dress choice, though.

    It’s a big deal for Justin Trudeau and Barack Obama, who share similar beliefs and policies. The two have even become friends since Trudeau’s election.

    National Security Council Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Mark Feierstein said on Tuesday, “I think there is a developing special relationship between this president and the prime minister. Both are young leaders with similar visions. Both have a progressive vision of governing. Both are very much committed to the appropriate use of multilateral tools. Both are committed to diversity.”

    He added, “I think we’re seeing that reflected, for example, on the issues of climate change and refugees and other issues. So this will be a good opportunity for the President and Prime Minister to expand that relationship and build on that.”

    London Has Fallen, the sequel to 2013’s Olympus Has Fallen, helped to dethrone Deadpool over the weekend.

    Meeting profit expectations, London has Fallen pulled in an estimated $21.7 million in ticket sales.

    London Has Fallen stars Gerard Butler as a special agent trying to save the lives of world leaders in Britain. It also features Morgan Freeman, also reprising his Olympus role, and Angela Bassett as a serious secret service director who is fighting to survive a massive terror attack.

    Angela Bassett sat down to talk with the Los Angeles Times about London Has Fallen, her children, and the race issues in Hollywood.

    When asked what London Has Fallen brings to the conversation about the state or the world, she said, “To me, it’s just all about relationships and understanding humanity. This is really just entertainment. We’re making an action thriller that we hope audiences will appreciate for just that.”

    She continued, “It’s just the narrative of the good guy and the bad guy. What motivates you? Personal greed, revenge or altruistic endeavors? It’s no ideology. It’s not casting shade in anyone’s political beliefs or religion. It’s pure fun. I’m not a conspiracy sister over here.”

    The London Has Fallen star was also asked about the #OscarsSoWhite controversy that plagued this year’s Academy Awards.

    She added, “I’m trying to express my humanity and my femaleness. I appreciate this broader dialogue is taking place. We have a very colorful, rich history in America about race, and it’s a conversation that continues to need to be examined.”

    Ron Reagan, the son of former president Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan, had sweet words for his late mother this week as the country continued to mourn the loss of a great first lady.

    On a phone call for Today, Ron Reagan told of the love his mother and father had for each other all throughout their 52-year-long marriage.

    He said, “She loved her husband more than anything in the world, and I think you can make the case that the Ronald Reagan that we all came to know as president would not have existed without Nancy Reagan.”

    Such sweet words for Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan.

    Ron Reagan also spoke of some of the flack she caught from feminists of the time and working women because she was so devoted to her husband.

    Matt Lauer added that Nancy Reagan once said that everything she did in the first year was misunderstood.

    Matt Lauer asked Ron Reagan about the love story between Ronald and Nancy Reagan.

    Ron Reagan said, “Once they had bonded together, they really were inseparable …I mean, it sounds cliche, but I don’t think that they ever spent a day apart where they didn’t call [or] speak on the phone. He wrote her letters all her life, all his life.They were in love.”

    Margaret Trudeau, mother to Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, was likely flattered when 60 Minutes accidentally misidentified a young Kim Cattrall as her.

    The photo in question showed Canadian actress Kim Cattrall on a date with then-prime minister Pierre Elliot Trudeau in 1981.

    The photo and video montage featured many images of former Canadian prime minister Pierre Trudeau and his wife at the time, Margaret Trudeau. The piece was about their son and current prime minister, Justin Trudeau, and his upcoming state visit.

    A 60 Minutes spokesperson said, “We regret the error on one of the several video and still images shown of Margaret Trudeau. It was corrected online last night.”

    Kim Cattrall took the mixup well, posting, “I have a son who is the Prime Minister of Canada? I couldn’t be more proud.”

    Margaret Trudeau has a history almost as scandalous as that of Samantha Jones.

    Margaret Trudeau was married to the prime minister when he was 51 and she was just 22. However, despite being a seemingly doting wife and mother to three boys, she later wrote about how she became obsessed with Senator Ted Kennedy.

    She wrote in her memoir about a “discreet meeting with Teddy” in his office, where they drank wine. She later said she told Kennedy that he “had not destroyed my marriage but that I had used him to help me destroy a marriage that was already over.”

    Margaret Trudeau was later caught partying with The Rolling Stones. It was soon after that when her marriage to the prime minister ended.

  • Zoe Saldana: Queen Latifah And Paula Patton Defend Her Role In “Nina”

    Zoe Saldana has been the center of controversy since she was cast as Nina Simone in the upcoming biopic, Nina.

    Critics of the choice say there were several other actresses that would have been better because Zoe Saldana is light-skinned and has a narrower nose than Nina Simone did.

    For the film, Zoe Saldana did have to wear skin-darkening makeup and a prosthetic nose.

    However, as evidenced from the trailer, Zoe Saldana clearly brings everything to the part and put her heart into portraying the legendary singer and activist.

    There are a couple of African-American actresses who are standing up for Zoe Saldana and they are calling for an end to the harsh judgement.

    Queen Latifah said recently, “I think Zoe Saldana is a great actress, so I am looking forward to it. She is of African descent. I don’t see why she shouldn’t play the role. I just want to see it. Get rid of the hype and let’s go watch a movie.”

    Paula Patton took it a step further and expressed concern for Zoe Saldana in the midst of the backlash.

    She said of Zoe Saldana, “I’m not into negativity like that. It’s a horrible thing to put on somebody…Imagine being in her shoes and enduring that. It’s not cool, and it’s not right.”

    She continued, “Clearly, someone thought she was perfect for it — she’s an amazing actress, she’s beautiful — and you haven’t even given her a chance and you haven’t seen it yet.”

    She added, “I think we have to be in a place where we celebrate each other and are kind to one another, and say, ‘There’s alternate versions of a story,’ Give her a shot, try to enjoy it and stop judging.”

    Zoe Saldana is truly a talented actress and seems to give everything she’s got to honor the late Nina Simone.

    American Airlines Pilots “Tired Of Apologizing To Our Customers”

    American Airlines has had difficulty in recent history that stems from the merger with US Airways.

    If you’ve flown American Airlines recently, you might have experienced or heard tales of delayed and cancelled flights and other frustrating circumstances.

    Travelers’ word of mouth has quickly given rise to a new and terrible reputation for American Airlines. I was in an airport twice over the last 12 months, both times announcements for cancelled American Airlines flights came over the speaker.

    American Airlines pilots, for another group, are fed up with management.

    It seems, despite the merger, management is clinging to their old ways and public relations are not improving.

    American Airlines pilots of the Allied Pilots Association wrote a brutal letter to Doug Parker, the Chairman and CEO of the airline.

    In the letter, American Airlines pilots wrote, “The pilots of American Airlines will not remain silent as we witness the rebirth of the toxic culture we fought so hard to eradicate.”

    The union went on to call out American Airlines management of using “old school, rules-based management” and “cut-throat and heartless operating methods.”

    The pilots of American Airlines call thier company’s operations “embarrassing” and say they are “tired of apologizing to passengers.”

    At the conclusion, American Airlines pilots make some demands from Parker.

    They include “stopping the contractual/legal abuses by the company, effective implementation of contractual provisions agreed to in the joint collective bargaining agreement and effecting/facilitating lasting and durable cultural change.”

  • Nina Simone Biopic: Two Sides Of Controversy

    Nina Simone was a singer and civil rights activist who penned songs about racism and black cultural strife in the late 50’s thru the early 70’s.

    A new biopic about Nina Simone, Nina, is set to come out next month, but it has caused some serious controversy along the way.

    The problem at hand is that Nina Simone is played by the talented Zoe Saldana. Critics say, well, she just isn’t black enough.

    Saldana, in order to look more like the legendary Nina Simone, dons skin-darkening makeup and a nose-widening prosthetic.

    Nina Simone’s daughter, an accomplished Broadway actress who goes by Simone, said she likes Zoe Saldana, but she’s just not right for the part.

    She said, “I love Zoe Saldana’s work. I’ve seen some of her movies more than once and really enjoy what she brings to the screen. As an actress I respect her process, but I also know that there are many actresses out there, known or not, who would be great as my mother.”

    Simone even had some suggestions for actresses to play Nina Simone.

    She said, “The one actress that I’ve had in my heart for a very long time, whose work I’m familiar with already, is Kimberly Elise. Many people have spoken to me about Viola [Davis]. I love her look. I love her energy. Both of the actresses that I’ve mentioned are women of color, are women with beautiful, luscious lips and wide noses, and who know their craft.”

    And the Estate and Legacy of Nina Simone was much more harsh when Zoe Saldana posted a Nina Simone quote to Twitter.

    However, those in charge of the biopic and some African-American actors in Hollywood are saying everyone should give Saldana a chance.

    Robert Johnson, founder and chairman of the studio releasing Nina said that Zoe Saldana’s portrayal of Nina Simone is “an exceptional and mesmerizing tribute.”

    He added, “She gave her heart and soul to the role and displayed her extraordinary talent. The most important thing is that creativity or quality of performance should never be judged on the basis of color, or ethnicity, or physical likeness.”

    Quenn Latifah argued that Saldana is a great actress who makes great movies, and, basically, get over it.

    She said, “I think Zoe Saldana is a great actress, so I am looking forward to it. She is of African descent. I don’t see why she shouldn’t play the role. I just want to see it. Get rid of the hype and let’s go watch a movie.”

    Paula Patton shared Latifah’s sentiments and expressed sorrow for Saldana.

    Morena Baccarin is slowing down these days now that Gotham, the show she films with her baby’s soon-to-be dad Ben McKenzie, has ceased filming and she has wrapped touring to promote Deadpool.

    Though, Morena Baccarin admits, slowing down when she already has a toddler running around is nearly impossible.

    Morena Baccarin said recently, “I’m one million years pregnant! I’m feeling good, and I’m now at the point where I can chill out a bit.”

    She continued, “With a toddler, chilling out is hard to do,” and added, “I’m nesting.”

    Morena Baccarin is due any day now with her second child, but soon afterward, she’ll have to deal with some custody drama.

    Morena Baccarin shares custody of her son, Julius, 2, with her estranged husband, Austin Chick. The couple had previously agreed to share custody and Chick moved to New York, where Baccarin was filming Gotham, to co-parent.

    However, when Chick found out about her romance with Ben McKenzie, he changed his mind and moved back to Los Angeles and challenged her for custody of their son.

    Court papers said Chick “shipped some furniture there and actually stayed there with the child for approximately two weeks in July. Apparently he changed his mind and returned to Los Angeles with the child when he learned that [Baccarin] had a new boyfriend.”

    A hearing was set for the custody proceedings, but Morena Baccarin was put on bedrest by her doctor. So, the actress will have to deal with it after the birth of her second son.

    Hopefully Morena Baccarin can get her custody battle ironed out so that she can begin living her life with McKenzie.

  • Asthma Linked To Stress And Anxiety In Teens

    Asthma seems to be as prevalent as it ever was and so are stressed out teens. It was only a matter of time before someone made the connection and that time has come.

    A new study by the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit followed the stress and anxiety levels in 38 asthma patients that ranged in age from 14-17. Their stress and anxiety levels were significantly higher than the general population.

    Interestingly enough, the asthma symptoms and specific triggers broke down into two categories.

    In general, the asthma study found that when the kids woke at night with asthma symptoms, it was usually due to anxiety. Shortness of breath during activity were more likely due to stress.

    However, just like most studies, it is not the last word in asthma research.

    Cathryn Luria, MD and the study’s lead author, said, “While we found a link between asthma symptoms and stress and anxiety, it’s not clear which came first – the symptoms or the stress and anxiety. More study is needed to determine that.”

    She added, “Because these patients may be particularly vulnerable to stress and anxiety, this information can be helpful to physicians as they counsel their patients about the importance of managing their asthma.”

    In similar news, a new asthma treatment is making waves in the world of allegery sufferers. The treatment, called bronchial thermoplasty, is the first effective non-drug treatment for asthma.

    One successful case involved Jenny McLeland, 33, of St. Louis. McLeland had severe asthma that was seriously affecting her life.

    She tried everything up to the maximum dose on many medications. Since having bronchial thermoplasty, she hasn’t had a single asthma attack.

    The treatment is only for those who have tried medication and it hasn’t helped. And those who can afford $15,000 to $20,000 depending for the procedure. Oh, and most insurance companies won’t pay for it.

  • Rory Feek Prepares To Lay Joey To Rest At Their Tennessee Farm

    Rory Feek and Joey and Rory’s daughter, Indiana, are back at their Tennessee farm this week.

    Preparing to bury Joey, Rory is making some tough decisions.

    Rory Feek posted a photo to Instagram of their farm captioned, “…making plans that I hoped we would never have to make.”

    Fortunately, Rory Feek won’t have to make too many tough decisions. Joey made many of them before she died.

    Back in November, after Joey entered hospice care, Rory wrote on his blog, “A rough-cut wooden box with a cross on it was placed beneath the bay of the bus and brought up here because that’s what Joey wants.

    He quoted Joey, saying, “‘Thomas to make my box… simple, from wood at the farm’, she said. ‘And find a good spot in the family cemetery in the field behind our house, where we put your mama’s ashes last year… with room enough beside my headstone for you to join me someday… in God’s time.’”

    He added, “Whatever she wants… that’s what I want.”

    While Joey seemed to have everything planned out, there’s no doubt this is still an exceedingly difficult time for Rory Feek.

    However, Rory Feek’s faith is strong, just like that of Joey’s. And that fact brings him much comfort right now.

    When Rory Feek posted about his wife’s death on Friday, saying, in part, “Though this is, and has been, a time of many tears of sorrow, it has also been a time of countless tears of joy. There have been too many beautiful moments to count or even begin to share in this blog. But I try.”

    He added, “When a person has been through as much pain and struggle as Joey’s been through, you just want it to be over. You want them to not have to hurt anymore, more that you want them to stay with you. And so, it makes the hard job of saying goodbye just a little easier.”

  • Maren Sanchez: Murderer Gets Plea Deal, 25 Years

    Maren Sanchez was murdered two years ago, many say because she turned a boy down for a prom date.

    At just 16, Maren Sanchez was stabbed to death in front of friends and classmates in a hallway of Jonathan Law High School in Milford, Connecticut.

    The boy who stabbed Maren Sanchez to death, Christopher Plaskon, now 18, accepted a plea deal on Monday which will assign him 25 years in prison.

    Judicial District State’s Attorney Kevin D. Lawlor said of the deal acceptance, “It’s almost on the anniversary of her death, and I hope they (the family) and the community can move on and heal.”

    While it seems like a slim sentence for cutting Maren Sanchez‘s life short in such a brutal fashion, Lawlor seems to think it’s enough.

    He said, “Both sides took a long time to assess the facts,” and “I have to make judgments based on what the law requires.”

    He added, “I believe he should be punished severely and he is being punished severely.”

    According to Lawlor, even Maren Sanchez’s mother, Donna Cimarelli-Sanchez, agrees with the sentence in order to “avoid further trauma” of a trial.

    However, no time served on the part of her murderer is going to bring back Maren Sanchez.

    After her murder, her cousin, Edward Kovac, spoke for the family, saying, “Maren should be celebrating at her prom this evening with her friends and classmates. Instead, we are mourning her death and we are trying to understand this senseless loss of life.”

    He said that Maren Sanchez was a “bright light full of hopes and dreams.”

    While Christopher Plaskon was handed a 25 year sentence, he could be eligible to have that time reduced to 60 percent, or 13 years.

    Miley Cyrus posted the pics to Instagram with the caption “Current Mood #fullerhouse”

    The pics show Jodie Sweetin straddling a shady-looking dude during her younger drug and alcohol abusing days.

    Miley Cyrus may have got a laugh or two from the photos, but Jodie Sweetin likely didn’t find them very funny.

    I mean, no one who is a former abuser wants to have those days shoved back in their face. Especially in the midst of a career comeback, which Jodie Sweetin is definitely experiencing.

    Jodie Sweetin hasn’t said anything about the post publicly yet, but sources have already tried to come to Miley’s defense.

    One source reportedly said, “Miley didn’t mean to cause any harm with her Jodie Sweetin post, she was just having a bit of fun. She sexualizes everything, and she wasn’t poking fun at Jodie’s drug use or anything like that. Miley’s actually been watching the new Fuller House, so that’s what made her think of it.”

    The source added, “She didn’t feel it was inappropriate. She actually felt that Jodie was showing off her sexier side in the pics being normally so wholesome in the show.”

    The source went on to added, “She would never poke fun at someone’s addiction problems or substance abuse.”

    However, despite the defense, Miley Cyrus has ticked off a lot of people.

    One comment said, “What happened to your antibully stance?”

    Another said, “You’re jealous of her light. Truly sad.”

    Yet another said, “Is Miley for real? You want to try to embarrass someone on mistakes they’ve made in their past? LOLOLOL pot, meet kettle.”

    Hayden Panettiere was kind enough to share some pics from a beach trip on Sunday with the world.

    One pic shows Hayden Panettiere looking healthy and happy as she stands in front of her towering fiance, Ukranian boxer Wladimir Klitschko.

    The other is of Klitschko and their one-year-old daughter, Kaya Evdokia.

    Hayden Panettiere seems to be doing much better after coming clean about her struggle and treatment for postpartum depression.

    Hayden Panettiere did say that coming clean about her struggle on Live with Kelly and Michael was like a weight being lifted off her shoulders.

    On the show, Hayden Panettiere said, in part, “It’s something a lot of women experience. When [you are told] about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child; I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. Some women do.”

    She added, “But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”

    Later, Hayden Panettiere admitted that she was shocked by the love and support that came her way after coming out with it.

    She said, “I was always so terrified that people weren’t going to accept me. I finally just went, I’m tired of living afraid. I’m tired of living in fear of what people are going to think, so, you know, I’m just going to put it all out there on the table and I’m not going to worry about the judgment.”

    She added, “The more open I was, the more acceptance I got from people,” she said. “I got so much support and so much love. I was floored. I feel much more exposed, yes, but in a great way.”

  • Will Smith: Were He And Jada Offended by Chris Rock’s Oscars Jokes?

    Will Smith and Jada Smith famously boycotted this year’s Oscars and in return they got burned by one of their good friends, and the host of Oscars 2016, Chris Rock.

    Well, it seems like Chris Rock took advantage of Jada and Will Smith not attending (not being their to defend themselves). Someone had to be the joke that lightened up the #OscarsSoWhite controversy.

    And lighten up the mood, it did.

    Chris Rock said of Jada Pinkett Smith, “What happened this year? People went nuts. Spike [Lee] got mad. Jada went mad. Will went mad. Everyone went mad!”

    He added, “Jada said she’s not coming. I was like, ‘Isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!”

    Ok that was a good one. Even better than Will Smith’s joke, because, well, it wasn’t really a great burn.

    He said of Will Smith, “Her man Will was not nominated for Concussion. I get it. You get mad. It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. You’re right. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West!”

    So, do you think Jada and Will Smith held the public humiliation against their friend? My guess is probably not.

    The three of them have been friends for a very long time. Also, If anyone can take one for the team, it’s that couple. Will Smith and his wife of almost two decades always seem like they couldn’t care less what others think or say about them.

    Also, it’s clear that neither one of them are hurting. Both of them are working hard and show no signs of slowing down.

    In fact, Will Smith was just confirmed for yet another major part in a another film directed by David Ayer called Bright. David Ayer also directed Will Smith in Suicide Squad recently.

    Bright, which will also star Joel Edgerton, is rumored to be “a contemporary cop thriller, but with fantastical elements.”

    Will Smith is also currently filming Collateral Beauty with the great Kate Winslet.

    Will Smith is just not hurting right now. At all.

    Laura Carmichael is moving on now that her Downton Abbey days are over.

    For Laura Carmichael, it was the stage that called next.

    Laura Carmichael will be starring in a play called The Maids. While the premise might seem similar, it is anything but.

    The play is about two maids, played by Zawe Ashton and Uzo Aduba, who fantasize about killing their mistress, played by Laura Carmichael. It is said to be a very thorough examination of sex and class.

    Laura Carmichael is not only excited about the play itself, but also the political message contained within.

    She said, “There are some extraordinary statistics about there being more live-in maids now in London than there have ever been before, so it’s not that you can watch it and think what an old-fashioned or archaic idea this is, it is definitely happening now.”

    Laura Carmichael has always been outspoken about social inequalities.

    For instance, when the Academy Awards racial fiasco happened last month, Laura Carmichael was quick to speak out.

    She said, “I think it was a really disappointing reflection. I think the Oscars is a sort of mad gang. The thing that surprises me is that I do think audiences really want to see a better reflection of the world that we live in and I think someone somewhere is frightened of changing what’s been the case for a long time.”

  • Zika Virus May Cause More Birth Defects Than Microcephaly, According To New Study

    Zika virus horror stories have already started pouring out of South America and the Caribbean.

    Many women who were pregnant when infected with the Zika virus began giving birth to babies with microcephaly, or smaller than usual heads. The smaller heads were an indication that brain development was stalled.

    The rash of microcephaly reports prompted studies to prove a link between the Zika virus and the babies born with smaller heads.

    However, in the case of one of these recent studies, there were many more birth defects that started showing up in patients with the Zika virus involved with the study.

    In the study, 88 otherwise healthy pregnant women who reported symptoms related to the Zika virus between September and February were tested. Of the 88 women, 72 were actively infected with the virus.

    Of those 72 infected women, 42 of them, and all of the non-infected ones, had fetal ultrasound exams. Of the 42 infected, abnormalities were found in 12. That comes out to 29 percent.

    Of the non-infected women who had ultrasounds, zero had abnormalities.

    Abnormalities found in the Zika virus-infected fetuses included problems with growth, like microcephaly and smaller limbs, problems with the placenta and lesions in the brain or spine.

    The Zika virus study co-author Dr. Karin Nielsen-Saines, a professor of clinical pediatrics at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, said of the findings, “Zika definitely causes the problems. We think microcephaly is only the tip of the iceberg.”

    Out of the 12 Zika virus-infected babies, two died in utero and six live births have occurred so far. Only one of the live babies has microcephaly.

    However, two of the infected babies were born too small for gestational age and one of those had lesions in the eyes, which could indicate vision problems and possible blindness.

    Two of the Zika virus-infected babies had normal ultrasounds and, so far, appear healthy. One infected baby was delivered by emergency C-section due to a severe lack of amniotic fluid. That baby seemed like it would have difficulties after birth, but soon stabilized and is now healthy.

    Dr. Christopher M. Zahn of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said of the Zika virus study, “Unfortunately, we still have many unanswered questions.”

    He added that the study does, however, provide “additional evidence suggesting an association between Zika virus and negative obstetrical outcomes, including birth defects and fetal demise.”

  • Charlie Sheen Sells Profit Rights From “Two And A Half Men” To Reduce Child Support

    Charlie Sheen revealed last month that he pays $55,000 each in child support to ex-wives Denise Richards and Brooke Mueller.

    Charlie Sheen has two girls with Richards, Sam and Lola, and twin boys with Mueller, Max and Bob.

    During his appearance on Dr. Oz, Charlie Sheen detailed some of his financial woes, including the burdensome child support. He also seemed to feel that the ladies were ungrateful.

    He said, “We came up with a number a long time ago and I had a great job and everybody was living large. And that’s not the case right now, but there’s still that expectation to still keep paying this kind of money.”

    He added, “At some point you just can’t justify it, especially when there’s no gratitude behind it. None. I would send somebody flowers every hour if I got that kind of dough tax free.”

    Well, it seems Charlie Sheen found a way to shave off some of those child support payments.

    Charlie Sheen sold his profit earning rights from Two and a Half Men for $26,750,000. Now his monthly income is much less significant.

    According to Charlie Sheen, he earned $613,000 per month when the child support agreements were made. Now, without the rights, he earns $87,384 each month and can’t keep up with the payments.

    Charlie Sheen has asked that his payments be reduced to fit the income loss. His hearing is set for April 13th.

  • Bill Clinton: Petition Calls For Arrest And Prosecution Of Bill For Polling Violation

    Bill Clinton is in some hot, well at least warm, water for violating a Massachusetts state voting law that prohibits campaigning for or against a candidate and passing out materials within 150 feet of a polling place.

    Bill Clinton and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh went inside a polling place in West Roxbury on Super Tuesday. They shook hands, took photos and even used a megaphone at one point to urge voters in the direction of Hillary.

    Now, Bernie Sanders supporters are angry with Bill Clinton.

    A petition quickly appeared online, which had over 100,000 signatures as of Friday, calling for Bill Clinton‘s arrest and prosecution for the violation.

    The petition read in part, “This is a call for the immediate arrest of President Bill Clinton for clear, knowing and egregious violation of the campaign laws to swing an election in a significant way.”

    It continued, “Choosing the critical battleground state of Massachusetts, Bill Clinton should immediately be subject to arrest and prosecution.”

    On Friday, the link to the petition leads (suspiciously, just sayin’) to an error message stating that the server is “misbehaving”.

    However, should the petition gain 100,000 more signatures, it may not be successful.

    For one thing, the petition is aimed at the wrong person. It is addressed to Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, but she doesn’t handle voting violations. Those are handled by the Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin’s office.

    Also, the fine is only $20. I think Bill Clinton can afford to get himself off the hook.

    But, for petitioners, it is likely the principal at hand that is of utmost importance.

    Bernie Sanders lost Massachusetts to Hillary Clinton and many of those voters could have been swayed by Bill Clinton’s celebrity presence.

    Chris Martin explained that Blue Ivy, and all of the other guest performers, had their voices on the album because those people are important to him.

    He told the Wall Street Journal, “Everyone who got asked to sing on our album has an important part in our lives. This is the Wall Street Journal, so I don’t want to get too hippie, but what I’m trying to learn in my life is the value of every human.”
